o7 for my boi Arthas. They did him dirty.
Genuinely hate how everything is centered around sylvanas this expansion to the point where it's not jaina or uther who get the final words to send off arthas. Especially the way she does send him off. Good job writing team, make sure to disrespect the one character you said you wouldn't before literally deleting him. Can't wait to read the copium-riddled comments later about how this is somehow a good way to end arthas' story.
I'm just kinda peeved that all Jaina got was one line in regards to Arthas. This man was the one she could never get over, speaking of her love for him even as recently as the last freaking patch. She'd spent years dealing with the regret of leaving him at Stratholme, losing the man she loved to darkness and corruption and feeling that it was her fault that he fell. And yet all she says is "Is this all that remains of him?". Really, Blizzard? Nothing else? No last "I love you"? Nope...gotta make this entire thing all about Sylvanas. And, don't get me wrong, I !@#$ing love Sylvanas. She's one of my favorite characters. But there were more people effected by Arthas than her. She wasn't the only one he hurt.I swear if it had been raining in that scene Jaina would've drowned...just staring at the sky like an open-mouthed fish...
lolI literally just posted something similar to this. And my friends on Discord have had to deal with me griping over the fact that, as much as I freaking love Sylvanas, not giving Jaina one last "I love you", "I'm sorry", or some kind of reaction was just dirty. FFS leaving Arthas at Stratholme was one of the visions the Drust kept showing Jaina to break her in the Kul Tiran storyline in BFA!
but Varian soul was destroyed by Guldan in the broken shore, the Fel destroy souls! :/
Indeed. The author of the article doesn't seem to understand lore that much. Once Arthas picked up Frostmourne, he was lost to Lich King. Yes, he did some questionable things before, like Stratholme, hiring mercenaries to burn ships of his troops, so they could not leave and then killing these mercenaries... he did those things to protect his kingdom. However, actions the author of this article is talking about here were already when Lich King had control over Arthas. During WotLK, Jaina herself acknowledged that Arthas was long gone and Lich King took over him. Sylvanas on the other hand was willing to some degree in her cooperation with the Jailor, she should have no right to judge him the way she did in the cutscene.Thank you so much for your reply, i really love the way you explained things and i 100% agree with you. Sylvanas has no right to judge Arthas for what he's done.
Athas' appearance in this just left a bad taste. It came entirely out of nowhere. It didn't serve the story at all, it didn't help anyones character development (There was no regret from Uther for throwing him in the Maw even?), it wasn't in ANY WAY needed, it didn't add anything to Arthas' arc. No one even entertained the idea that he'd been controlled in the same way Anduin and Sylvanas were. Not gonna lie, it felt more like a bitter petty afterthought by writers who've never been able to add anything as interesting with the story since. The Lich King is nothing and irrelevant now. Deal with it. All hail queen Sylvanas, the new Jailer.
I can't wait to wake up from this weird Old God-induced nightmare.
Got mixed feelings here. The cinematic was very good, but too short. Uther and Jaina should have be their moments too.Maybe this was because is a mid raid cinematic (shorter by design?), but nowadays following the Warcraft history is like watching (a very good) movie one scene every six months.
Varian was killed by Fel and utterly destroyed... according to the Chronicle (I think it was in the first one), there should be no Varian soul at all. So another retcon?
No, he wasnt under the control of the jailer as the lich king, he broke free somehow and the jailer considered him a failure. He might've been under his control before he became the Lich King, but as far as i know blizz said that he made his own choices.
10+ cinematic until Sylvanas started speaking
This is one of those stories where no matter how it turned out, a lot of people would not like it. Still, I like that the article pointed out the similar parts of previous cinematic and the music. A lot of fresh players would not have picked up on it. I can only presume now that the next 3 bosses are going to lay the foundation for the next expansion which everyone seems to be saying will be announced as soon as someone kills Zovaal
What a joke. Sylvanas who did horrible things "under Jailer's control" condemns and judges Arthas, who did horrible things under Jailer's control (as is known of now). Writers do not even try to think things through even for the second, they just write a first thing that comes to their mind and call it the script.
Varion huh?
Blizzard please leave Sylvanas in the SL. You think you redeemed her but you're the only one that thinks that. Having her burn the tree and plague the UC caused unrepairable damage to this character. Most people don't like her and are tired of her.
