Leveling Changes and Chromie Time 1-60 in Dragonflight

By RenataKane Updated: 2022/11/15

Gear Levels for Dragonflightyou can enter Dragonflight leveling as low as iLevel 150 and it works reasonably well.iLevel 180 is even comfortable. Players over iLevel 200 will likely find early questing in Dragonflight quite easy. Dropped and quest reward Uncommon-level gear starts at iLevel 226 in Dragonflight. Changes to Chromie Time in Dragonflight

Chromie Time spans levels 10-60 (was 10-50). "The Realms Of Death" (Shadowlands) will be available as an option. Threads of Fate can no longer be selected as a leveling option in Shadowlands.*

You will need to have have at least one character on your account that has reached level 60 to unlock Chromie Time (was level 50).

Option 1: Choose a new timeline in Chromie Time.

Option 2: Travel to the Battle for Azeroth zones and continue leveling there until 60, as these will be scaling already for new players.

Option 3: Continue leveling in Shadowlands as normal, with or without Threads of Fate. Threads of Fate in Shadowlands will no longer be an option after launch on November 28th.

Once again, Wowhead writers are publishing guides based on completely outdated information.

Post mob buffs, item level 150 will see you going squish to everything in Dragonflight. Normal mobs have 30k HP and hit like a truck. It takes forever for them to die and a single one will take you to half health depending on your class before you can kill it. 180 is not enough either.

Having tested this extensively with multiple alts and classes (not just rogues), in general, 230 is about where leveling starts to feel comfortable. But it depends heavily on your class!

Anything less than ilevel 200 will be a miserable experience if you're not in a group. Alts will go squish to anything and everything without pre-patch catchup gear.

Chromie Time Shadowlands doesnt work, because the Death Gate to Acherus requires level 48.

Discovered that in pre-patch if you are level 50+ and turn off XP it will kick you out of Chromie time and zones will only scale to their regular maximum level. During Shadowlands you could level lock to 48 or 49 and stay in Timewalking. (Currently level 59 alt, turned off XP to continue the expansion I was clearing and boom, no more timewalking).

I started a fresh level 1 night elf and went to the inn in Dolanaar and also to Darnassus, and did not receive any rested XP even after restarting the game. Even though it's been awhile since my last level 1 I'm pretty sure I got rested before. Maybe now you have to be some higher level?

After posting that I leveled up to 6 then went to Darnassus and I'm getting rested XP. Just taking a guess you have to be level 5 now.

So if I start a new Evoker on a brand new account (no other character or history other than a level 58 Evoker), when will I be able to use Chromie Time on that same Evoker? For example, I'd like to use Chromie Time to trigger and go "back" to Legion. However, I do not see Chromie offering the area selections.

My second question: forgetting Chromie Time, what level range will some place like Vashj'ir be if I were to manually go there on my Evoker? Will it be capped to level 30? 50? 60? etc.

Important note - you will get a message pop up at Level 59 offering to take you out of Chromie Time. You will also get a scroll in your inventory that takes you out of Chromie Time if you click on it. Chromie tells you that you are needed back in the present. Do not listen, she is trolling you. Unlike some previous xpacks where you could start the intro quest at 1 level below the previous max level...

You cannot start DF until Level 60.

Leaving Chromie Time at 59 will mean having to go back to Chromie to pick up Chromie Time again.

With 10.1.5 it no longer needs a lvl 60 character on your account to use Chromie Time. Just do the starting isle and after coming to Orgrimmar/Stormwind you can just head to Chromie and change your leveling area.
