Beast Mastery Hunter Rotation in

Optimize your cooldown window Make sure your Bestial Wrath is used on cooldown as often as possible and that you take full advantage of all the resources it gives you, such as Stampede!, Wailing Dead and Withering Fire.

Maximize your Kill Commands : You want to make sure that Kill Command never reaches two charges, that they're always buffed by Nature's Ally, and that you are able to cast as many of them as possible during your cooldown window.

Manage your pets: Make sure your pets are always attacking the correct target and that you are effectively moving them when necessary and swapping when you want them to, ideally using Dash.

Cast Barbed Shot if Bestial Wrath is about to come off cooldown in the next 3 seconds.

Cast Bestial Wrath.

The priority changes when Withering Fire fades and Bestial Wrath is still active. During this small period, you should aim to use Barbed Shot over Black Arrow.

Wailing Arrow can be used in a variety of spots in your cooldown window, as it is available for 15 seconds. Make sure you do not waste other resources when you use it, such as allowing Kill Command to reach 2 charges. Good RNG with Soul Drinker can delay it for quite a bit but you should make sure you always get it off.

You should think about where you are standing relative to the enemy as you go into your cooldown window. You should aim to be at a similar height as the enemy, and not too far away.

If the enemy is about to die, or move, it might be worth delaying your cooldown window.

Every Black Arrow you cast will fire a Bleak Powder cone behind its target, applying Black Arrows damage-over-time effect. This means you generally want to try and aim Black Arrows at enemies near the front of the pack, to ensure maximum cleave.

The most important aspect is that you use Bestial Wrath on cooldown, as often as you possibly can. It sounds simple but losing one use loses a lot of damage.

While there are a lot of talents that interact with Bestial Wrath, most of them are passive and not worth playing around.

Bloodshed will be applied to the target the pet is currently attacking. If your pet is not attacking anything, you will not get a bleed.

Nature's Ally will make your Kill Command more powerful, indirectly, since there is one additional pet casting it.

The initial hit of Bestial Wrath is fairly large and more importantly, affected by Beast Cleave. When combined with Nature's Ally, this makes every individual additional hit of Bestial Wrath trigger their own Beast Cleave.

For :
You will cause your next Kill Command to trigger a Stampede!

This will fire a line of animals 30 yards in front of you. These animals have no height and will not adjust for curves in the terrain. This means they miss very easily.

You will gain one Deathblow.

You will gain Withering Fire, making your Black Arrows more powerful for a short period.

Wailing Dead summons one Dark Hound.
This Hound, will, notably, trigger Pact of the Hollow, making Kill Command notably stronger.

The Dark Hound will do a lot of damage and also benefits from Dire Cleave. This can turn Bestial Wrath into an AoE burst cooldown at the cost of only one talent point.

For Trinkets:
Any trinket that increases your stats, including as Light Company Guidon, Void Execution Mandate, Algeth'ar Puzzle Box, Emberwing Feather and Freightrunner's Flask, should be used alongside Bestial Wrath.
Note that Algeth'ar Puzzle Box has a two second cast time. This means that you want to use it two seconds before the encounter starts, and two seconds before Bestial Wrath is available.

You should use your potion alongside your Bestial Wrath. Note that it needs to be active before the initial hit so that too gets boosted. Macro-ing it to Bestial Wrath works for this.

You should look to use your potions alongside your trinkets or racials, as long as it does not cost you a usage of your potion.

Racials

Any racial that increases your stats, such as Berserking, Ancestral Call, Fireblood and Blood Fury, should be used alongside Bestial Wrath.

You should look to use your racial alongside your trinkets or potion, as long as it does not cost you a usage of your racial.

Any other racial should not be used rotationally, you would rather use a Cobra Shot.

Beast Mastery Hunter Advanced TipsPerfecting your cooldown window

As you approach your cooldown window, you should start planning towards having two charges of Kill Command available. If you are , make sure you do not have any Deathblow active as Withering Fire will give one for you.

Make sure your pet is attacking your current priority target, so that Bloodshed lasts its full duration. If your pet is not attacking anything, you do not get a bleed.

If using Killer Cobra , you should look to prioritize Cobra Shot over Barbed Shot during Bestial Wrath.

The Dark Hound with Dire Cleave causes your cooldown to gain a powerful AoE burst component. Take advantage of this in raid when not running a full AoE setup, and line it up with important add spawns.

Note that the priority changes when Withering Fire fades and Bestial Wrath is still active. During this small period, you should aim to use Barbed Shot over Black Arrow.

Wailing Arrow is generally flexible in how you use it but you should generally avoid wasting resources while using it, such as Kill Command reaching two charges. You should, however, always use it before the effect runs out. You also have the option of taking advantage of silence effect in Mythic+.

Pet Management

For AoE, it's relatively important that your pet(s) are central in the pack to maximize the amount of targets hit by Beast Cleave and Wild Thrash. Pets will generally try to attack the back of the mob, so try to move them to target an enemy whose back is towards the middle of the pack.

The UI & Macros page has various tools to help control your pets better, including a solution to their broken autocast and various pet attack macros.

Pets like to get stuck a lot! Generally speaking, your best solution to this is either using your pets' "Follow" or "Passive" commands, or swapping between them. Make sure you have these bound to reasonable keys, as each problem may have a different solution. In a worst-case scenario, you will have to dismiss your pet and resummon it. On some encounters, your pet may die from improperly coded AoE, and on others, they may move out of range and despawn.

Your Kill Command and Barbed Shot will cause your pet charge towards the target. This is important to keep in mind when target-swapping, as you will want to make good use of these effectively to minimize your pets' downtime.

Your pet also has Dash, which you can manually use to move it around quickly. It is set to auto-cast by default, which often wastes it.

It's worth turning off Spirit Walk auto-cast, as it makes your pet start attacking the enemy slower.

Anyone else notice that we're not getting the 10% crit buff when we activate aspect of the wild? I see it up in my buffs at the top right corner of my ui, but I'm not actually seeing the extra 10% on my character screen. I do see the stacking crit bonus from other effects so.... I'm assuming we're not actually getting the extra crit.

Never use Barbed Shot when Bestial Wrath is available, or else you waste its cooldown reduction. This shouldn't be a problem in most cases since you almost never want to delay Bestial Wrath.

The cooldown is still reduced even when Bestial Wrath is active. Just checked on a target dummy.

I must be a horrible BM Hunter. There is just way too much in today’s WOW to keep track of. I try to play to this outline of recommended priorities, but it is just too much for me to keep track of during fights. Unfortunately for those whom are grouped with me, I have resorted to using a rotation as it just makes the game and my BM Hunter more enjoyable to play. As many of you will most likely recommend, I will be focusing 99% of my WOW efforts in the classic server once that server tab appears.

I do want to say thank you though as it is evident that you are truly passionate about Hunters. It really shows. The work you put into the Hunter guide is five star! I am probably a two/three star skilled player, but it is clear if you are talented enough, then this guide will put you on track to a competitive place in end game content. Nice job. Thank you.

I can't help but notice that the talent selections and rotations in this page for both single target and mutli-target currently include Chimera Shot and Murder of Crows, whereas the Talents page specifically excludes both of these talents. This page has been updated 4 months more recently than the talent page. Can we get an update to this page for those of us catching up a bit near the end of this expansion?

Hunters Mark doesn't add 5% extra damage. This is not accurate at all.. The only thing Hunter's Mark does, is letting the hunter track it and see it no matter what.

In the "Issue with basic pet attacks"...put those in a macro with the attack works but results in spams of "I need a target to attack" until the fight gets going. I guess the basic attack and the main attack all execute simultaneously. Is there a way to suppress that?

Note: As of Dragonflight full release, this guide says "Dragonflight" but hasn't been updated since the Shadowlands Covenant talents. Rotations here have been superceded by completely new talent trees and removal of Covenant talents in most non-SL content (abilities are no longer active outside of SL zones).

While BM rotation hasn't changed too much, there are differences in the rotation that Tarlo updated in his 'Why You Should Play Beast Mastery Hunter in Dragonflight (And Why You Shouldn't)" news guide. Once our Hunter friend Tarlo updates this guide I can happily remove this as outdated information. THanKS!

For the BM hunt in the schematic rotation, there are no kill orders, should they be placed at the end afeter the 3rd barber shot ?

I am trying out the ST build now and I am doing abysmal ST dmg on the raid boss dummy. Not sure what I could be doing wrong as I am doing the opener properly and spamming kill command while keeping bestial wrath on cd, 3 stacks of frenzy, and keeping a charge of barbed on cd. My gear is not great, but it I have haste and crit stacked with some mastery and almost no versa. I thought BM ST was supposed to be good.
