It might help to know where you left off.
For someone starting from 85 and interested primarily in the lore/storyline, I'd suggest playing through the majority of Jade Forest, hitting up Valley of the Four Winds, then into Kun Lai Summit (where you'll get the quests to open up the Vale of Eternal Blossoms) and that will lead into Townlong Steppes.
The 5.2 additions have a fair bit of lore in the non-daily quests that open up along the reputation progression.
5.3 added some lore heavy scenarios that you'll get a quest encouraging you to do.
As for the daily thing, 5.4 (which comes out Sept. 10th) will remove a lot of the reputation requirements for gear, and they took out the Golden Lotus rep gate a while ago, so it's not nearly as daunting as it used to be. They also added non-daily ways of gaining rep.

thanks for these replies!
now i know where to start from (i left the game shortly after opening the vale of eternal blossoms), and one of the things i dreaded was the rep grinds, (specially the tillers, oh how i hated these, made the game look more like a dating sim, but thankfully im over with these), and now i can focus more lore-wise as its my main interest.
once again, thanks!
I despise rep grinds, especially gated rep.
So needless to say I felt pretty much the same as you, whilst the other sheeple NEEDED to grind for shiny things, I played around, did the odd dungeon, gathered mats, generally had fun.
I haven't maxxed a rep in Pandaria on any toon other than accidentally with the lorewalkers, and just over the course of questing with the others.
I don't do dailies.
All my 90's are pretty well geared, all do LFR, and all but 2 have access to the last raid in LFR.
There is not reason at all to do dailies, no reason to grind rep, and you can very quickly be pseduo raiding in LFR.
(like within a day on maxxing out.)
If however you like the stories and lore, I'd say go for it, they are still crappy rep grinds, but at least there is some story content to be had.
