My hunter was my first toon and my introduction to WOW.. I took pointers from a friend of mine who has played a hunter for 3 yrs.. Specc'd BM and loved it.. My highest dps as BM was 2300 and some change with

After the patch I decided to give Surv spec a shot and see what everyone is talking about. Other than me switching to the

everything else was the same.. My DPS is now 3300 and I hit an all time high in naxx 10m with 3784..
I'm loving this spec, lets just see how blizz is going to react with everyone putting out amazing dps in this spec now..

From what I can tell a couple of weeks post patch is that A) yes SV is putting out the best dps in the hunter builds and B) That SV dps seems to be pretty much in line with the rest of the damge toons as far as overall average damage done for a typical 25 man naxx clearing event.
The first time we raided with 3.0.8 I had already switched to SV and saw that I REALLY outdid the non SV hunters. (Poor BM *sniff*) MM seems to be doing OK but is stilll below me by about 2-400 overall DPS and quite a bit of damage. The Marks hunter that runs with us has better gear than me but I consistently beat him on overall damage done and usually on a Boss fight.
Our number one damage toon on the two Naxx clears post patch has been a very well geared ret pally, I am running second and a Frost DK is getting right up there with us as his gear is getting better. Mind you we are NOT uber-geared. We have all the naxx content on farm ( 10 man and 25 man) but have NOT cleared 25 man malygos yet. We have done 25 man Sarth1D and tried a couple of times and failed at 2D. So that should tell some of you that we are MOSTLY in 25 man naxx gear but not much beyond that yet.
Anyhow my point is that on overall damage I (and I think most SV Hunters) am/are right up there with most of the dps classes and on boss fights SV seems to be right up there but NOT overpowering the other classes. SO I really do not see a reason for this supposed SV nerf that GC and other Blizzard peeps are hinting at.
For those of you whose guilds are farther along do these results seem to be fairly in line with what is happening in your runs? Or are you really topping things out atm?

Differences in specs have always been there and they aren't going away. Blizz is trying to increase the variety in the game to keep us playing, as trying something new will keep us from getting bored. BM is for leveling, MM for pvp and SV for raid, that is how things broke down in the past, they are just going back to it. true, BM has had the most raid dps recently, but SV has to have a reason to exist now that buffs are non-unique anymore.
In the end, dps is dps and the difference due to spec isn't so great that a raid leader should not invite you just for being a "improper" spec, that is exactly what Blizz is trying to prevent.
So, everyone, regardless of spec, go try the another one, you might like it(I personally went from SV to MM to BM and am loving the vanity pets and am glad that they are viable dps now). If raid dps is really that important to you, why not a mage or DK?

As I was signing into wow today I noticed something. 3.0.9.
I scrolled through and saw the light at the end of the tunnel...
Kindred spirits now grants 20% attack power at max rank while your pet is active.
Serpent's swiftness grants your pet 20% attack speed.
Possible trend?
Obviously blizzard realized what they did to the BM tree and wasn't really balanced.
Do you think that with this slight adjustment/buff, we will see more hunters respeccing back to BM trying to rekindle their love for their pets?
What say you!

Buttery. First pure dps classes should have the highest dps, and blizzard wants that, blizzard also wants equality. So a mage and a hunter should do virtually the same dps. They should both do more the a DK. Leveling is not a valid spec. Blizzard isn't going to create a talent tree that becomes obsolete at max level.
There are two specs for dps classes, pvp and pve. Survival and MM both are good PVP specs, with improved CC such as silence shot and scatter shot, improved traps, stat bonuses. Now BM has beastial wrath and intimidation. But really the only thing that made BM a good pvp spec before the patch was the double beastial wrath. Seeing as BM trails in pvp ability it should have a slight edge in the pve area. But it doesn't. If you think the spec difference isn't enough for a raid leader to not pick a SV over a BM then you obviously have little raiding exp or are in a guild that will take you no matter what cause you are friends.
Good points, my guild is pretty casual about dps since we can all output good numbers consistantly and also true about the specs. It's all part of the ebb and flow, the next content patch will even things out with dual spec. I also expect to see exotic pet improvements for that added raid dps for BM, (sucks about scorpid poison nerf, was awesome).
As for raiding, I've always looked at range dps as the last line of defense for the healers and not as chart toppers. Best of luck BM hunters.
