The achievement states "in the Battle for Stromgarde", which more than likely means you need to do the rares/events during the scenario once your team reaches 100% contribution, not just in the revamped Arathi whenever.

In order to obtain this achievement, you have to complete the 12 random events that will appear during your different passes on the Stromgarde warfront.

The event can take different forms, either an elite to kill, a NPC to protect, or a prisoner to release.
They are indicated on the map by a yellow star, as for rare elites.

The rewards are diverse, gain of iron, gain wood ... some elites, once defeated, can even come to help you on the battleground, to inflict heavy damage to enemies !

Depending on the duration of the battle, there may be between 1 and 2 random events per warfront.
You will have to return several times to complete all the criteria ;)

I've seen about 2 scenarios per battle, so it will take many battles to get this achievement.

For the Hostage Rescue portion of the achievement, Wistel Silversnitch will emote saying, "Some of our pals have been caught out there. Wanna give 'em a hand?" You need to make your way to the ogre cave near the Circle of Elements. Once inside head up the right-hand side of the cave to the main platform and rescue the hostages.

In addition, this is the same location as the event when Wistel also has the voiceline for, "Hey! Someone's nabbed a bunch of our goods! We gotta get 'em back, PRONTO. Preferably with interest." A chest will spawn at the same platform as the hostages and, when collected, will grant 100 iron resources.

If you ride a kodo (and, presumably, the Alliance equivalent) this does not grant credit. You need to dismount before the rare dies to get a tick.

Stolen Loot: located inside the Ogre Cave near Circle of Elements. Entrance is at 63, 43.

Hostages: can spawn in the same location as Stolen Loot, or sometimes elsewhere.

War Trike: you can find the battery nearby (found across the road in the bushes: https://i.imgur.com/BgddudV.jpg) to be able to mount it. However, there's no clear objective afterwards, so I assume it's not required for this achievement. Needs confirmation.

I think the Trike is the Alliance version of the Lost Caravan the and achievement is wrong

Seems Lost Caravan isn't possible for alliance, I went through the top 50 alliance achievement hunters, no one had it, and a large number of them had it as their final one needed.

Ok done about 25 runs now...

Still missing Fozruk, Branchlord, Ragebeak, plaguefeather and venomarus.

I see a lot of stolen loot, wartrike up but I dont think they are tied to this achivement.

Mostly I think the Goliath's spwans. Maybe some of the other once needs some speciel mechanic to pop up?

Rumbling Goliath spawns by the Circle of Inner Binding in Galson's Lode, just east of Stromgarde Keep.

Thundering Goliath spawns ontop of the hill between High Perch and the Circle of Elements.

Cresting Goliath spawns just north of Highlands Mill.

Plaguefeather spawns east of Drywhisker Mine.

Ragebeak spawns south-west of Newstead.

Fozruk spawns south-east of High Perch.

The Branchlord spawns just north of Highlands Mill.

Yogursa spawns between Newstead and Hatchet Ridge.

Venomarus spawns north of Hatchet Ridge.

Skullripper spawns south of the Circle of Elements.

Wistel Silversnitch says: Ooh, look at the size of THAT thing. Hey! Anyone wanna go kill it?

The Motherlode event (Lost Caravan) spawns at Drywhisker Mine, just east of Ar'gorok, and needs to be escorted back to the base.

Wistel Silversnith says: Looks like our miners hit the jackpot! You get it back to our base in one piece, and we'll all benefit greatly.

The Hostage Rescue event takes place south of the Circle of Elements, at the T-junction.

Wistel Silversnith says: Some of our pals got caught out there. Wanna give 'em a hand?

Typically, I'd see one or two events occuring during a battle, and only rarely none, so getting everything done is entirely up to RNG. If you've seen one or two spawns late in the warfront, you can just leave and requeue instantly, without getting locked out.

Sadly, another achievement that should be account-wide, so you could gear up alts while progressing on this. But alas, 'tis not.

The events are indicated by a star on the map and requires no specific mechanics to spawn. Good luck!

This achievement is getting annoying. I farmed probably a good 40+ the first week, to find out "Lost Caravan" was bugged and wasn't spawning for alliance.

Been farming this for 6 or so hours non-stop since it just opened to US Alliance again. Been seeing the same, events, over... and over... and over. Still do not have Lost Caravan, sick of seeing hostage/trike.

Hostage Rescue can spawn in different places on the map, not just near the cave or inside. Just completed an event at 70, 60 (north-east from the Galson's Lode)

So after about 40 to 50 runs doing this, I finally got it as an Alliance player after having The Branchlord. To help some rumours out from the comments:

- All 12 spawn without you having to do anything. I was majority of the time AFKing in a house in the middle. Just watch for Captain Roderick Brewston's speech. It can have different sentences, but if he says something, it's always a rare.
- You will nearly always have 1 rare spawn, unless you are in a group that's extremely overgeared. It's common you get 2 and I never bothered waiting for a 3rd to spawn. I would type /afk and requeue as there is no Deserter for leaving early.
- There is one rare spawn not part of the criteria which is the War Trike. Ignore it, it's both not required and impractical.
- Make sure you got something on the side to do if you decide to AFK, as you will be bored.
- The Motherlode event for Alliance spawns at the start of Garrison's Lode, our mine. The Branchlord spawns just a tad north of our Lumber Mill. The rest of the coords are the same for Horde and Alliance.

For the rest, be patient. You may be lucky and get it quicker than me or not so lucky and take more runs. It is RNG, there is nothing for you to influence it.

I've farmed this out as Alliance. Here are some things I've found out:

- A random event will spawn between 10-13 minutes after the start of the game. A second event can happen between the 20-25 minute marks. Sometimes the game is already won by then, and sometimes there is no second event for whatever reason. I have never seen three random events in a single game, even in a map that lasted for 35 minutes, but other people have reported it happening in the comments.

- This achievement is not account-wide. It must be done on a single character, and by the time you get all 12 rares down, you will no longer need warfronts for anything other than achievements. Trust me on this. The RNG is killer. You will see many duplicates. There are also random events that can happen that don't count for the achievement. On Alliance side at least, there are Witherbark troll invasions, Stolen Loot, and a Goblin Trike event that don't count.

- The most efficient way to farm this achievement is to join a fresh warfront and wait for the first random event to spawn 10-13 minutes into the game. If the one that spawns is one you need, go do it. Either way, once you've seen the first random event, type /afk to leave the game and then queue for a new warfront. You don't get a deserter debuff if you do it this way. At current gear levels, the game is often won before the second random event spawns, which leads to more of a time investment than simply leaving if you don't need any of the rewards.

- Note that you will be automatically kicked from the game for inactivity if you tab out and just do nothing while you wait. You need to at least move your character every 2-3 minutes. Other players in the raid can also vote to kick you for inactivity if they notice you AFK.

- When you get to the nine minute mark on the ingame timer, drop what you're doing and head to the spawn point of a random event that you still need. One of them, the hostage rescue, can only be done by a single player when it spawns. Other events feature bosses with low health pools that fall over if a geared player engages them. As you must tag the rares to get achievement credit, this is bad news if you are on the other side of the map when they spawn. There is one random event that you can get credit for despite not doing anything, and that is the Motherlode (AKA Lost Caravan). Once the event is complete, any player can click on the chest that spawns next to the Workshop in the Alliance base to receive achievement credit.

- None of the random events are based on current map progress. It is completely random which ones the RNG decides to give your instance, and I have not found any way to manipulate it.

- If you decide to complete entire warfronts while focusing on this achievement, note that completing random events that you don't need will not make further random events spawn any faster. It is entirely timer based. More than one random event can be up on the map at once if nobody clears the first one before the second one spawns.

Sometimes, when the Hostage Rescue event should have occurred (Wistel Silversnitch says: Some of our pals got caught out there. Wanna give 'em a hand?), there is no star on the map. It appears that even if the line is shouted, the event does not occur.

If you're looking for a particular rare event, the best here is:
- queue for the scenario
- launch a chronometer after you took your main basement
- wait for 10-15 min to see which rare is it (because of our stuff, we can't have anymore 2 rare events in the same scenario)
Pay attention, some rare events are on your map with a big yellow star BUT some are just a NPC quote in the chat (like griffons, hostages or stolen resources)!
A good thing to know is you can leave the instance whenever you want without having the deserter debuff.
Good luck for you, you'll need it!

(I'm at 50+ scenario and still one rare event left... meh)

While most notes are pretty solid, a few things have been missed here that need special mention:

1: Although rare ( pardon the pun ), it's possible that no rares will spawn at all. I've stayed in a match up to 22 minutes without a spawn of any kind. Group was sieging gates by that point.

2: It's possible ( but unlikely ) for a rare to spawn on the map without Captain Roderick Brewston actually saying his usual spiel at all. Thundering Goliath spawned without triggering any dialogue from the good captain.

Both of these cases have happened to me once each out of 50 attempts. So it's very rare, but it can happen. As others have said, keep an eye on your timer and on your map!

The rare spawns don't have enough HP. Even 1-2 players kill them pretty fast and you have no chance getting to them from the other side of the map. So dumb.

Is there sometimes a bug with Cresting Goliath? I helped kill one (granted I only just managed to get a couple hits on it) and then it joined our side and helped fight.
When the warfront was over I still didn't get the achievement credit.

At the time of making this post, I found average games to last about 20 minutes. Very rarely much longer than that. Because of that you basically never see more than 1 rare spawn. The most effective way to grind this achievement is definitely to wait for the first rare, and then leave and requeue for next battle.

Been trying for 12 hours straight yesterday and a couple of hours today to get a Cresting Goliath by entering waiting for first event, leaving and entering a new one plus a couple of times per week since the expansion launch. So totally probably around 100 times. Still no luck.

Now that people don't run this as much, if you leave after the event spawns and que back up, you have a pretty good chance of landing back in the instance that you just left... happened to me twice, even after waiting a minute.

If you try to /afk out or quit after rejoining the same instance, you will get deserter.

I just love (eye roll) doing this absolute waste of time on my horde toon. Nearly every event is the war trike and when it isn't war trike its the wind riders. Neither of which count towards the achievement.

At least you can sit around doing nothing during the battle and just make sure you don't get toggled /afk until it is over.

Between this and islands I'm not sure why I bother logging in. They are worse than Farmville.

To finish "FOZRUK" - after defeat him - you have to talk with him and choose one option.

There is only ONE chance per spawn to finish this.

Honestly one of the most annoying achievements to finish in recent memory - must have entered over 100+ warfronts after getting 11/12 progress on it, and still haven't seen Plaguefeather spawn

There is a way to earn this achievement with 100% guarantee and no RNG.

All you need is ~3 hours of time and enough likeminded people to form a premade and grind out this achievement.

I've done this strategy myself last sunday:

1. Form a premade for Heroic Arathi Warfront. I think it's scaled between 10-30 people, so any number in that range should work. We had 22 people.
2. Play the warfront as usual, but NEVER build the workshop or siege engines. This guarantees you won't accidentally win and complete the warfront.
3. The gameplan:

defend against Boss attack
build Armory
build Altar of Storms
upgrade Keep to level 2
max out weapon and armor upgrades

4. Once you've achieved this, feel free to capture all but the final base. Your NPC's will be strong enough they can take out most waves on their own now as well.
5. Wait, wait and wait.

On average, a new event will spawn around every 10-15 minutes (shortest we saw was 7 minutes). Some people might be semi-afk and tabbed out during the wait time, so make sure the leader alerts people when an event spawns through ready-check or something. Once everyone is ready you do the event and wait for the next one to appear.

The important thing here that makes this strategy possible is EVENTS CANNOT REPEAT, so eventually they will all happen as long as the warfront is going, guaranteeing everyone gets the achievement regardless of prior progress.

Because some events aren't needed for the achievement and depending on luck, this achievement can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours.
At the 3 hour mark though, every event will have happened.

IMPORTANT: warfronts use the BG afk-flag mechanic, meaning if you manually type '/afk' or are not doing anything in game for too long and get autoflagged afk, you are booted from the warfront. I think the afk timer is ~5 minutes, so make sure to at least move around a bit in game every few minutes.

TLDR

Make Heroic Arathi premade.
Keep warfront going by never building workshop.
Do events one by one.
Don't accidentally get flagged afk.

I did this today and thought I'd share my experience of the quickest way to complete the achievement: camping all rares during a single battle for Stromgarde in a raid dedicated for the achievement.

Before using this method, I tried finding the rares in random heroic and normal battles. However, after spending total of 3-4 hours of joining random battles, wishing for the battle to progress slower so that more rares would have time to spawn and having RNG with the rares being everything but what I needed, I realized I don't want to sacrifice more of my time to the RNG gods.

Waiting for all rares to spawn in a single same battle works because the same event can't happen twice. They all come in a random order, and a new event will spawn roughly every 9 to 15 minutes.

In addition to the 12 rares you need for the achievement, there are at least 4 events that are not part of the achievement: 2 different Hostage Rescue events, Gryphon/Wind rider event, and a Goblin Trike event (horde).

Our group had the following events with the following timers:

00:40:20 Stolen Loot

I made a group on group finder with the achievement name and stated it will take roughly 3 hours to complete the achievement. I asked people to make sure they had the time, and not leave when they finished their achievement. We built all buildings, did all upgrades, but did not build demolishers. We waited/afked at the middle and stopped the enemy waves as was needed. The raid leader did a ready check every time a rare needed for the achievement spawned, to wake those who were tabbed out with wow on background with sound on.

People needed to move their character every few minutes, if they didn't, they got zoned out and kicked of the raid because of afk. We were able to invite these people back, and they were able to zone back. You can keep inviting people to the raid after you have started the battle, you just can't list the group on group finder.

I was missing Fozruk as my last one, and judging from other comments I thought I had to be fast to talk to him to get the credit, but it turns out I got the credit on the "kill" without having to talk to him at all. So don't stress out and gl to anyone else going for it :)

Thundering Goliath doesn't exist...keep getting the same spawns. Wildlife (Yogursa/Skullripper/Venomarus), hostage rescue, lost caravan. Spammed like 20 normal Stormgarde's and have been doing heroic every lockout for the past year. What a crap achievement.

Edit: The first warfront after this message and he spawns as the second event. Omfg....finally it's over.

It appears that rares will continue to spawn as long as the enemy gate is still up, even after workshop and tanks are built. After the gate is destroyed, rares will not spawn. We were down to three possible ones left when the gate accidentally went down, waited twenty minutes, and no other rares spawned.

Likely the "fastest" way to farm this in 9.1.5 after the queue changes (you now only need a group of 5 for normal) is to try to create or find a premade and queue normal, with the goal of building the base to the correct level as described below. Then just wait for the rotation to kick in, which in my experience is roughly every ~10 minutes. Note that if you queue for normal, others can be added to your group. They can be votekicked if they don't get on board with the plan, as cruel as that may be. The mobs and activities are trivial, this is nothing but a time wasting exercise that at least has a guarantee at the end.

The warfront wont disband or you wont get kicked, if you are the last one in the warfront. So if your group is done with the AV and you still need one more rare, you can do it by yourself.

I did this today by myself

1. All you need is 4 friends or randoms to que in a group with you. they should leave once que pops. (unless everyone wants to go for the achievement. I did it solo). The warfronts require groups of 5. There is no penalty for leaving the warfront. so once everyone zones in the people who aren't doing the achievement can leave.

2. The random events spawn every 10-13 min. When I did this i didn't get the same random event.

3. Don't break the gates to the enemy base. Just capture all the points and do whatever. (I didn't build Demolishers)

4. Just wait and run around killing stuff.

5. You will get the achievement in a couple hours.

Hope that helps

(Side note: Heroic warfront requires 10 people. Normal warfront requires 5)
