Open the lockbox 62,31 inside of Amani Catacombs. Its to the east of Tranquillien in the cave looking thing! It would be smart to go ahead and do the quest "Investigation of Amani Catacombs" at the same time! good luck!

It's a random "drop" from any of the lockboxes inside the catacombs. Just keep opening them 'til you get it.

You don't have to do the prequest "A Discreet Inquiry" to get this, just pick it up in Tranquillien when you ding 16.

is it a random drop or not? i tried the one next to the Ranger Lilantha at 62,31. but my inventory was full and i got in combat when i opened it and it disappeared.

After you ding 20 in lockpicking next box is going to drop the ring. I was in the circular room just picking those boxes and as soon as I dinged 20 in LP next box had the ring. Hope that helps someone from wandering around picking boxes =)

Since 2.3 you no longer need to open random chests, just open the chest that glitters like any normal quest item (alltough, you might want to open all chests anyway, for lockpicking skill).

Got the ring at Lockpicking: 23. Once I hit skill level 23, *every* chest started glittering. Prior to that point, none of them did. This means that it either randomly assigns a required (hidden) skill level when you start the quest, or it randomly decides as you progress.

Note: The game considers this quest and Zando'zan to be the same quest. You will get a "You are already on that quest" message if you try to accept one while having the other.

If you're Horde, I'd suggest accepting this quest (IMO the rewards are better), heading to the pirate ship south of Ratchet to level your skill without interference from mobs, then return and finish the quest line.

this is for all rogues keep lockpicking even afer u get the band u will need ur lockpicking to 75 for ur poisons quest. when u get close to 75 the chest will be green for u but keep going u can get pretty high i got up in the 80's with just those chest.

Confirmed im leveling up another rogue and after the 20th skill up all of the burial chests begin to sparkle pick the lock on any of the sparkeling chests and you'll find the ring.

After i hit lvl 20 lockpicking, the ring was in lock box outside of the circle room. so it can spwn in any of the boxes.

I can confirm again that all of the boxes will begin to sparkle once your are lvl 20 lockpicking any of the chests can contain the ring

But how do you USE the bloody lockpicking set? I right clicked on it, left clicked, right/left clicked on the box, looked through my skills... There's nothing to actually USE it. This information would help a LOT guys.

has anyone tried doing this quest since 4.0 patch hit because I most of open easily 75 to 100 boxes and nothing so just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if someone is having the same problem.

Well then this is lame. this alt is level 16, and just got this quest. but lock picking cant be trained until level 20 now.

They've removed class quests from the game so this should'nt still be in, had a conversation with a GM earlier and they said they're working on mopping up the last few that incorrectly still show like this one

After patch 4.0.1 lauched, you will have to get to level 20 before doing this quest, as that is when you unlock the Lockpicking ability.

Very very confused. I don't know how the lock picking skill balances out now after the patch. I've opened over 250 ATLEAST. I've been at it for 2 hours. I finally went crazy. Lmao. What's wrong? I've been through thottbot, WoW head, everything. Help?

Don't bother with this quest, impossible since 4.01.

Spent 30 minutes opening boxes and from the looks of it from other comments, new lockpicking broke the objective.

They removed the quest item... I think most Class-quests are gone now, still Shamans got their's for some totems, and we got the "Test Ability/Spell" quest in the start

I've spent a ridiculous amount of time looting that cursed troll crypt just to find out this quest is outdated! ¬¬
Why the hell do they still have this quest in-game? :(

A rich, and I mean filthy rich, merchant came through here yesterday talking about some ring of "immense archeological importance" locked in one of the countless burial chests found in the Amani Catacombs. When he wasn't talking about the ring, he was talking about how much he'd pay for it.

Tell you what, I'll front the thieves' tools, and if you manage to bring the ring back, I'll pay you enough to buy ten rings of your own!
