Bloodvenom Essence had a drop rate of about 80% for me, Rotting Wood dropped like 10% from the small treants, but if you see the big treant walking through Irontree Woods you should try him - he dropped 3 Rotting Woods at once!

Kill the Irontrees at 47,26 for the rotting wood, and kill the Tainted Oozes at 42,45. GL!

I had like 90% drop rate on the Rotting Wood and 10% on the blood venoms :/

The Withered protector dropped 3 for me too, lvl 56 tree. Dont forget these are elementals so for a lock Banish works pretty well if you need it. The 56 mob had 53's with him which I banished until I was done.

So, at lvl 50 I took on one of the big trees (lvl 56) in hopes it would drop multiple wood (I had very bad luck with the drop from the other trees). Killed him, he dropped 1 =(
So if you're like me, doing this at lvl 50, don't waste time on the big guy, just go for the lvl 52/53 ones instead.

Ironwoods Stompers (52,21) dropped them more than the wanderers - I'd say about 80% drop rate.

Tainted Oozes at (42,50) have a terrible drop rate on Bloodvenom Essence. (ie 1 for every 10 kills or so.)

well i fought the 56 as a 51lock... took some time but not too hard. but he only dropped one... oh well it was a fun fight atleast. good to test ur balls every now n then hehe.

horrid drop rate on the bloodvenom essence. However the tainted oozes also drop oozing bags which can contain some nice items like aquamarine, Thorium Armor Plans, and some silver

i just killed the 56 a 2nd time... he dropped 3. which is great because I had 7 at that point :D just a matter of luck.

to kill the 56 as a 51 lock i pretty much just health funneled a vw and drain life on the 56 back and forth over and over. throwing in a soulfire here n there. took a while but it works. so long as he isnt attacking you directly its no problem.

Should just mention this:
The Irontree guys all show up as yellow at first...
once you start killing a few... maybe 2-3...they all turn red and will attack you if you aggro them.
Same with the tall lvl 55-56 guy.. hes not nice when he steps on yer butt ><

EDIT Add: so i was hunting for the essence...and while 42,45 is correct..i only found two there.. you have to walk into the lake..swim under and theres some..and go to the other side...coords 42,50 had a whole bunch... didnt take me long to find the ones i needed.

The level 56 Withered Ancient only dropped 1 Rotting Wood for me.

However, as a few others have pointed out, the Irontree Stompers seem to drop the Rotting Wood more frequently than the other treants.

There's a nice cluster of the Stompers in the NE part of the Irontree Woods, I recommend farming there.

STUPID LOW DROP RATE of Blood Venom essence. I got 1 in 18 kill so far. Really stupid

Spare yourself lifes and don't do it on level 50, it's good to do it on 52+!

Blood Venom - low drop rate but easyer to get due to only 4 needs
Rotting Wood - harder to drop but if you kill the big guy walking around (protector) you can get 2+

i found that the bloodvenom essence's drop at a much higher rate if u kill the ones in the water.. i killed about 15 outside the water and only got 1, and then went into the water and 3 in 4 kills..

Blood venom VERY low drop rate, had to kill around 25 to get 4, FYI

These have an insane drop rate from the Stompers and Wanderers. I just cleared the area of them and got 1 in the two hours I was doing it for. Very demoralising. :(

Got 4/4 on the bloodvenom from the oozes next to Jaedenar

I had a 100% drop rate from the Bloodvenom Essence from the mobs near the quest giver, and the logs were about 60%-70% droprate from the tree guys. Not bad.

If you are able, I recommend killing the Withered Protectors in the area. The two that I killed drop three Rotting Wood each time.

After numerous amounts of kills and looting..I finally found 4 of the Blood Venom Essence,I killed about 20..and found a percentage of less than 10%....To be honest its not really that great of a quest when it takes so long to complete...but...the tree guys had a percentage of 50-70% and if i remember a lvl 56 dropped about 3 logs...Anyways...Ciao~& GL!

The withered protector drops UP TO three wood at a time. I killed my first one and got three to drop, but when I killed it again (had to leave for item repairs) it only dropped one.

Did this at 55 since I was in the area and hadn't bothered earlier. Withered Protectors only dropped 1 each (killed 2) so there's no incentive to kill them over the others if you're too low.

Doing it now, I got the essences in about 10 kills tops in the lake and on the eastern edge of it, but the wood seems to be iffy, about one in five at the moment are dropping from the ironwood stompers. Four wood down, three voidwalkers and one death. =/

The withered protectors were dropping 3 for me at a time, which was nice when I ran into them, lol.

i killed small trees and little one they didn't dropped any rotting wood !
is this quest need any professions ?

Now that I have my felcloth, I can really begin making *my* pet.

It's going to need some eyes though. Perhaps you could rip some rotting wood from the irontree folk for me, so I can carve out some lovely eyes. They're up north in the Irontree Woods.

I'll also need some bloodvenom essence to give it that new demon smell. The tainted oozes carry the essence, and they hang out right here near Niby and me.
