This bag CAN be pickpocketed. Had to try about 8 Shamans or so before I got it.

I was Unfriendly with Timbermaw when I did the quest. I had to click "At War" in the Rep tab in order to pickpocket, but I didn't lose any rep for taking it.

I had a hard time p/p, I got to close and had to kill em, at 50,25 I had no luck, moved to 44.25 and got it the first try. Turned in at 28.50 and bam... automatic, just go with the flow.

At lvl 50 I ran/stealthed all the way past various Timbermaw mobs (Warriors, Pathfinders etc...) to 45, 21 where I found the Timbermaw Shaman.
Stealthed past all his friends and pickpocketed him, Grabbed the Sealed Azure Bag and Mount-ran back to hand it in.

Took me all of 5 minutes.

there was a rare behind the shaman so i killed it and the 2 denwatchers and the shaman at the "gate".
shouldnt have tho -200 timbermaw rep oops

Just about to do this as I got this quest at lvl 50. I have no rep whatsoever with Timbermaw, I looked in the rep sheet and the only 2 I am hated by are Syndicate and bloodsail, so I am guessing this will be a breeze, I will report back.

Update, 44,26 ther are 3 shamens all queued up to be pickpocketed, now considering you don't get this quest till 50 or that what it says, it wasnt available to me until 50, you should be able to sap then pickpocket up to 10 lvls higher than you, or I can, I have a combat spec rogue with swords and I had no problem at all.

Got this quest at lvl 50, and completed it at lvl 50. I have no rep with Timbermaw Hold - I just stealthed and pickpocketed. I am combat spec, but I have maxed out MoD and Camo, so that helped with sneaking past the mobs undetected, I'm sure.

At 44,26 like krisdl said above, and 48.4,28.2 are lots of Timbermaw Shamans. They are in Ursolan, which is slightly northeast of the Timbermaw Hold gate. I distracted, pickpocketed, and the Sealed Azure Bag dropped on the first try.

To turn this in, you can find Xylem's apprentice Sanath Lim-yo at 28, 50. He will teleport you to Nyrill, Xylem's other apprentice, who is above you on the mountain. After you port, follow the path leading from Nyrill into the mountain. You will find Xylem's tower at the end of the path. Xylem is at the top of the tower.

First shaman I pick pocket'd I recived the bag. WOO!

I then decided to make some money by pick pocketing for ages, made many many suprior healing pots and alot of money, adverage 2s 50c per Pick Pocket! yay!

You can pickpocket it? too late for me. i have killed over 50 of these things and still no bag and now these guys are at war with me. i guess i should have looked first.
First one i pick pocketed had the bag. what do i do to fix the rep?

I don't have the coords mod and i can't find the timbermaw shamens. can anyone tell what area they are on the map?

One thing to note is that this quest does not apply to a SPECIFIC shaman, but ANY shaman in general. If it's a "Timbermaw Shaman" it may have it. However, be forewarned that if someone has come through the area previously, and picked the shaman's pocket, and it has not been killed, it won't have anything (though it refills its pockets in about five minutes.)

Be also aware, that the other types of timbermaw (possibly) take the same spawn spots as the shamans do. So you'll most likely have to kill off a lot of them, so that more shamans can appear, otherwise you may end up with all of the spawns used up by the other timbermaw types and no shamans whatsoever.

I had to pickpocket about 30 Timbermaw Shamans to get the bag, so it is possible, just takes time. Good luck.

hmmmm............ well i didn't no this tilll i 1st saw this, i have approx 0 rep with them now because ive been killing them non-stoop, i have killed about 50 of them :S this is gonna be hard

this might be the newbiest question i have ever asked but how the fk do u get to the hand in dude??? hes up on the frikin mountain and i cant find the path to his place... =(

Almost directly east of the horde outpost of Valormok is an npc standing near a teleporter. Speak with the npc, and he'll teleport you up to the top of the cliffs. To get back down, speak with the npc next to you where you appeared. Just remember, your REALLY high up on the cliffs now. Safe fall won't save you. :)

so we have to be friendly or unfriendly in order to be able to get the bag ? im hostile with them atm and i cant find the bag and ive kill the shaman by the gate almost a million times sum1 plz help

You don't need any sort of reputation with these guys, just be sure to mark that you're "At War" with them in the rep. tab so this allows you to Pickpocket them. The Shamans in Ursolan seemed to work more frequently for this, so I would suggest trying them. Don't kill them if you can help it, unless you don't care about Timbermaw rep. (which most people don't post-BC). Still more profitable to pickpocket them. :) Hope this helps...

The mob you need to kill is Timbermaw Shamans. They are located primarily in the northwestern area of Azshara.

If you are unfriendly or higher: Open up your reputation screen. Scroll down to the Timbermaw. Select "At War".

BE CAREFUL: In almost all cases you don't want to kill these guys. These are the same guys you need unfriendly or better rep to pass into Winterspring. Also, reputation rewards from their quartermaster are pretty decent (especially the agility enchants which lower level twinks just adore).

Chances are you'll regret going on killing spree. An accidental kill may land you with 10 extra deadwood's to kill.

Make Your Life Easier (in Azshara, Period.): Head on over to southern Felwood first and complete the initial Timbermaw reptuation quests. Especially Timbermaw Ally from Grazle.

This will get you to Unfriendly Reputation with the Timbermaw. So then all you'll have to do in Azshara is ride/walk through camps looking for Shamans (instead of having to skirt around or slowly stealth through them). At Unfriendly EVEN with "AT WAR" checked in reputation they won't attack you.

Easy Money/Lockboxes: Another advantage of achieving unfriendly is easy money. Nothing spectacular, but with them unfriendly you can go unabated through their camps pick pocketing. Getting Sturdy Lockboxes and easily a couple of silver. If you're looking for money without the kills this is kind of nifty.

There are many ways to do this quest. This one seems the easiest. Fly to splintertree post in ashenvale if you don't have a flight path for azshara. Take the path heading northeast out of splinterpost till you reach the small bridge connecting ashenvale to azshara. Keep heading east down the path till you get to the ruins of elderoth. Do not enter the ruins, walk around them heading northeast. From there it's a simple conformation of furbolgs at 42,22 in Azshara.

I have pickpocketed the timbermaw shaman and about 50 other timbermaws and have not found the the sealed azure bag yet.

Follow these steps to easily finish this quest:

1. If you don't have a direct FP to Azshara, fly to Forest Song in Ashenvale and ride east over the bridge into Azshara. You will then see the green exclamation point directing you to the hippogryph master. You now have a new FP.

2. You first need to obtain to sealed azure bag. To do this, you must first find the location of the Timbermaw Shaman. The majority of them are not located at Timbermaw Hold. There is one shaman at the gates of Timbermaw Hold, you may get lucky with that one. You will most likely need to travel slightly NE to another Timbermaw camp called Ursolan.

3. Since this is a rogue quest, in order to complete this task, you must stealth and pick pocket the item.

4. Once you have the sealed bag, find the NPC that will port you to the top of the mountain. At the top of the mountain, follow the natural trail until you reach a tower. Once you are near the tower, the yellow question mark will appear.

I submitted screenshots as well, so hopefully they are attached. I circled the locatins for the NPC as well as the location of Ursolan. But if they have not appeared, the NPC is almost directly west of the Ruins of Eldarath, hugging the mountains.

Ursolan is directly north of the Ruins, but I don't know if you can get there by just galloping north of the Ruins. The way I got there was first finding the NPC, then heading north of him, hugging the mountains, until Timbermaw Hold appeared on my map. Goto the gates of Timbermaw Hold, and then another little building should appear on your map. If you put your mouse cursor over it, the name Ursolan should appear.

I had a neutral rep with Timbermaw already ... clicking at war allowed me to just walk up to the first Shaman I saw, pick the bag, and walk away.

With this quest, after you stealth and pick pocket a timbermaw shaman, you then look for one of Archmage Xylem's assistants at the base of the mountains. He is close to Bear (or Boar) Head with blue question mark over his head. I was able to get azure bag with first pick pocket!

1. See below for pickpocketing info...
2. Rather than run around for 2 hours looking for the person to port you up the mountain....(since no one would post the location)...the person you are looking for is Sanath Lim-yo and he is at location 28.1, 50.0.....he is the guy witht he blue question mark over his head....

Does this quest give rep after Revered? Would be a good way to skip some boxes when working towards "The Insane", if you still haven't done the quest.

I got it an the first try,I went in front of do to timbermaw hold and pickpocketed the one with the two bodygards and got it on my frist try.

I'm a lvl 56 Rogue who had good luck on this quest.As Cranee said I clicked at in the rep pane to be able to P/P, while looking at Timbermaw Shaman in front of the gate to Timbermaw Hold.I've got a 10 yd range on P/p so not even close I got the bag first shot.Now to turn it in.

Fortunately, if you already have good reputation with timbermaw, you can simply check the "At War" box, pickpocket the shaman and uncheck the box without losing any reputation.

You have to talk to a guy with a blue question mark to get teleported to the top of the mountain, his coordinates are 28-50

First things first. What I've lost is a small blue bag, the contents of which are a private matter.

Don't bother going after the thieves, because they are already dead. What we do know is the fools couldn't get the bag open. so they sold it to some timbermaw shaman in Azshara as a holy relic. Clever.

I need you to travel to Azshara and retrieve it from the shaman through subtlety... or force. Better luck with the first method, I'd wager. Once acquired, take it to Archmage Xylem.
