Yes don't let the level of this mob scare you. I was a level 53 warrior and got him quick. He is about as hard to kill as one of the level 50 to 51 tar guys just below the flight point. At level 53 I my plate armor was at 43%. He only hit me for 40 to 46 damage each time.

He is located at the Eastern Crystal Pylon. I got him down on my holy priest lvl 51. It took me 7 minutes to kill him, just wanding casting renew and sometimes a flash heal. There's plenty of space to spamfear.. yay!

This is a very easy quest!

When I saw it was a lvl 56 quest, I thought: Let's wait... but then I saw all the comments...

Did it as a lvl 51 mage, full frost specc... finnished it in about 20 secunds without taking dmg...

Water element - Ice Barrier - frostbolt - frostbolt - frostbolt + fire blast - cone of cold - frost nova - frostbolt + fire blast ... and then he was dead :)

I got a frost bite on my second frost bolt ...

The coords 79, 49 are correct. (79.9 x 49.9 to be exact) You will see a small black rock east of The Eastern Pylon
(view screenshot #2 for rock location)
First right click on the Torwa's Pouch that is provided.
You will receive 2 items: Preserved Threshadon Meat & Preserved Pheromone Mixture
Stand on top of the black rock in screenshot 2 and right click on the Meat (This will place it on the rock)
Then right click on the Mixture, this will cause Lar'korwi to spawn by The Eastern Pylon and charge at you.
This quest may say: Requires level 48 but he resisted most of my spells at level 48 so 1 or 2 more levels will be needed to solo.
(If your going to post what level you killed the mob, you should add some info about the quest to help others or don't post at all)

79,49 is the correct location. For those without coordinates, it's the graveyard you appear at after dying in south/SE Un'Goro.

Soloed as lvl 51 feral druid...
Shifted to Bear form immediately after summoning him and charged in.
Applied Faerie Fire, popped Enrage and waited for some rage.
After that I just simply Mauled and Swiped all I could.
At about 15% I decided it would be safer to Bash and heal; could probably have done it without, too.

It's really a piece of cake.

I was a level 52 demonology warlock when I did this one. Summoned him, had my felguard charge+hit+cleave, casted 3 DoTs, and healed the felguard. He was dead before Curse of Agony expired..

Solo'd as a 50 Lock. Kept him feared if my voidwalker lost aggro and DoT'd him to death.

If you know how to play your class, it shouldn't be much trouble at all.

solo'd as a lvl 52 rogue. stealthed as soon as placed the bait, waited for him to come, stun-locked for first part of fight to get him down to 50%, then popped evasion and slice and dice and took him down.

easy fight considering he was 4 lvls above me. had to use one health pot but thats it.

nice rewards too

Solo'd as a 51 feral druid, it felt like he was just another mob.

Before he came, turned into cat + prowled
Tried to stun him,, and apparently it missed
Continued with mangle + rake + mangle
Got to 5 combo points, ferocious bite
he died about a second after the fb

In the end, I lost a total of 1000 hp, still had almost 2k left.

Rogues can stealth before he attackes you so you can cheap shot or what ever you like to do.

If you aren't confident that you are going to be able to kill him in your first attempt accept the quest and open Torwa's Pouch then abandon the quest and pick it up again to receive another pouch (you won't be able to open it until you use the meat and pheromone form the other bag). This will let you have a second attempt without having to run all the way back to Torwa for the pouch.

Easily soloed as a Lvl 52 Demonology Warlock

As soon as Lar'korwi spawned I sent Felguard on him (Cleave and Anguish enabled).

Shot Curse of Agony, Corruption and Immolate onto him, then Shadow Bolt spammed until he died.

Only took 1/4 of my Felguard's hp off.

52 warlock solo stand upp on the big black rock and oper the pooch he gave you then right click on the things that's comes out of the pooch. the rock is at 79.49! stay right at the rock and do it xD

I just soloed this as a lvl 48 Feral Druid.

The best advice ican give is keep some healing potions ready (i didnt use any) and get ur self pumped for a good fight.

Co'ords are correct 79,49, did this as my Shaman totems out thought I'd play it safe. In he comes stops to size me up so I hit Gift of the Naru to give me a HoT then proceeded to kick him in. He ain't hard for a level 56 really... if you can take 3 level 50 mobs no problems or even with problems you can take this guy out.

Solo'd as 51 feral druid. Had a hard time hitting him at first as Dire Bear. My rage was so low i thought it might be bugged. He took me to 65% health before I shifted to cat and finally started hitting. You might want to start in cat form to get him down faster. If it takes a while then use ur combo points, shift out of cat form, health pot or Rejuv, Bear Form, Enrage, mangle.

Solo'ed as a 49 frost mage...advice, mana pots and ice barrier and ice armor on (slows him down and frostbites him). He resisted about 80% of my shots, only about 3k HP but that is more equal to 10k when considering resist. I didn't have to heal at all only because of ice barrier on at all times. I was slightly over 100 hp when all was said and done.

Don't relax when you get him low...he resisted 10 shots in a row when he was under 100.

Solo'd as a 51 Destro Warlock. Use void to tank and let him gain aggro then dot, fear, shadow bolt. He resisits quite a bit so keep a pot or two on hand just in case and a healthstone never hurts although I didn't need it.

Does anyone know if this quest is broken?
I was standing on top of the black rock, placed the meat and looked over to the pylo but no Lar'korwi. Even tried to abandon the quest n take it again but after 4 tries - still no Lar'korwi.

The meat disappeared after a while :s Am I doing something wrong? Or if someone fails to kill him does he just wander off to random place in Un'Goro?
Would be thankfull for a answer :s

Solo'd as a lvl 51 balance druid. Waited for Treants to cool down, kept DoT's on him at all times and spammed wraths from point blank. Didnt need to heal; was still 70% healthy...
Don't let this quest scare you at lower levels....

Level 52 MS Warrior, easy as pie. I didn't drop under 40% by the time he was dead so I probably didn't even have to use skills. :P As said in a few others, don't let this level 56 intimidate you!

just stealthed as he came, distract, garrote, popped everything i had (evasion, adrenaline rush, SnD, blade flurry) and got him down without going below 90%.

i solo'd as a 49 lock & it was reallllly fn hard. he keeps resisting all the spells. eventually after enough tries the spell will stick, but it really drags down your mana. it works if you alternate between your fear, health stone, health funnel to your void walker, 1st aid patches & mana potions. If you're a lock & want to do this quest, bring 1 friend along to help you do it. it will save you about a 8 min. battle

Solo'd as a 55 mage, know its kinda high but for lower lvl mages, frost nova him, blink away, then use (fire spec) pyroblast and then your arcane explosion and fire blast. For non-fire spec, recomend you do the same thing but instead use you frostbolt and thn your most damaging frost/arcane spells

As a 53 enh shaman the fight was fairly easy didnt drop down 80% had Shamanistic rage btw. A lvl 52-53 can finish this fight easy with no problems but his attacks are fast so casters beware.

Solod as a 49 BM hunter. Laid immolation trap and kited him around. Laid frost trap down when needed. Potted once and burned thru all my cooldowns. It was tough but very possible!!

Found your instructions helpful :) but screenshot 2 a bit unclear.

See screenshot 3 for better view of where the black rock is in relation to the pilon, I've marked it with a red cross.

You get quite a bit of time to catch your breath whilst Lar'korwi runs from the Eastern Pylon (shown at the far end of the screenshot) towards you.
I managed to kill him as a lvl 51 druid by applying scroll buffs prior to summoning him and using a superior healing potion towards the end. I used Innervate at the start to make sure my mana was regenerating whilst i spammed him with starfire / wrath / moonfire, turned to cat for a bit more dps, and then used Barkskin to prevent any interrupts whilst healing myself.. then back to cat.. and drink potion as needed.
10,550xp on hand-in :D

i soloed him as a 49 bm hunter. i had crappy gear all around lvl 40-44 gear lvl 36 axes. it was easy just make sure ur pet can keep agro and use fiegn death and disengage i used two mend pets just to be safe really easy quest. as long as your pet can hold agrro.

Soloed as 50 mage as well. Hit for about 130 per hit (crushing). Of course he also resisted most my spells, but he is so underpowered that it's about the same as killing a level 45 elite or so.

Very easy. Solo'd as level 52 fire spec'd mage. I just frost nova'd him before he could hit me then I cast, and got him to about 10% before the ice even broke. Simple kill. Good luck!

Level 52 Priest solo'd almost without taking a single point of damage. SW:Pain, Devouring Plague, Vampiric Touch, and a couple Mind Blasts did the trick. Nice quest.

Being a 51 enchancement shaman I thought I was in for a huge fight. Droped stoneskin, Magma and Mana spring totem. Used Shamanistic Rage and to my surprise he barely touched me at all. Easy quest with great xp and not bad mail reward. Definately worth it. Happy hunting!

I soloed this as a lvl 52 hunter. it was very easy. you have to go to the eastern pylon and once inside there is a little stone disk, put the meat on there and then use the *seasoning* with it. (Then if your a hunter i suggest placing down a fire trap to do extra damage right next to the disk). Lar'korwi (lvl 56 Raptor) will run from the eastern pylon (the entrance where you came in). The way i killed him was (as a hunter) i sent my pet on him then was firing my bow will my spells when he got close i melled him to the death. Good Luck =)))

I am a level 50 rogue , when i started i was stealth and missed att ambush :O ... when I started to run he was on 51% i used no pot so hes realy easy... so dont be scare of hes lvl. He hits me for 100 sometimes , so i I'll take him this time ;) so dont be scared.

SO EASY AS A 51 FERAL DRUID! He attacks hella fast--hits for 70-80, with 20% armor damage decrease. REALLY easy. He's a non-elite. :]

BTW:

The black rock is a super tiny rock that doesn't look like a huge thing at all.

very easy to do with a 55 druid. stand on rock, right click on meat. right click on potion, quickly shapeshift to cat form and go stealth. and we can pounce him for 4 seconds free hit.

Just soloed this as a lv51 sp. Keep your shield up and fear, be sure you've got some hitrating aswell. :)
He hit's fast so try to have a shield/ fear active all the time!

Solo'ed as 54 arms/fury warrior, dual-wield spec, with crappy gear, 3200 HP, 3500 armor. Most my plate is around lvl 40-45 quest gear, and weapons not too great either. Did it in battle-stance dw-ing sword and mace.

Put down the bait and pheromone, then hit enrage and battle shout. Health-regeneration put health back up to 99% before the dino reached me. First hit demoralizing shout, then slapped him with rend and hamstring, and then laid on the sunders to a full stack of 5, then finished him off with heroic strike. Only had to redo demoralizing near the end, but otherwise this mob was an easy kill. Ended up with 60% health, but since there's no adds or anything else around, that's not a big deal.

Solo'ed as a 52 rogue (5/12/26). The only problem was actually hitting him (even with 5/5 Precision) as he is 4 lvls higher than me. I stood on the black rock, used the meat then used the pheromone and stealthed. I kept him stunlocked with cheap shot & kidney shot for the full 10 seconds. I popped evasion after he came out of stunlock and just wore him down. Quite easy.

easyily soloed as a lvl 52 tauren balance druid simply put down meat in moonkin then summoned treants when he came up close. then i faerie fired and went to town with starfire and with the treants and the starfires he went down easy

An easy quest, soloed this as a lvl 51 Tauren Shaman (enhancement).
Good idea to lay down some totems, i used stoneskin, mana spring and grace of air.
Used a couple fire totems too. Didn't need to heal myself once.

Well, just soloed as a 51 feral druid, as poster a few down said, popped out once with barkskin to rejuve and regrowth, then went back into cat. Lol, druids. Note, can stealth right after application of scent, but right before he arrives.

Almost soloed as 49 lock. Problem is he keeps resisting, so I keep going through my mana and have to life tap. Brought him down to 15% then got chain resists- would have beat him with a potion or something.

Soloed as a 51 BM Nelf Hunter. Very easy. I let my pet do all the work, saved my mana for mend pet, but also had posion sting and a arcane shot every now and then. This fight took me less then one minute.
Hope this helps other hunters lower then myself.

very easy to do, just did it about five minutes ago as a lvl 48 feral druid.. might be lvl 56 but doesn't hit any harder than the others, had to heal a twice but still easy. plus a green droped. :D

Just completed it with my Feral Druid level 50 solo. It can be done but used 3 pots of Superior Mana Potion. Managed to keep my hp above 50 all through and when I got him down to 6% it seemed to take ages before he fell. Probably the hardest fight I have ever had with any alt. Not bad for 10,550 XP.

Soloed as a 50 NE Rogue.You can stealth after u place the items so u can garrote or CS the mob.After that use 5cp on Rupture and open evasion.When evasion fades fight it a little bit Blind and First aid when your health drops.This is enough.Have a potion with you just to be sure.

Easily soloed as a lvl 49 feral druid. Not particularly tough at all to be honest. I only had to heal once, i had him to 20% when he had me down to 25% so was close but til that point I did not heal once.

Very easy, even for such a low lvl as me, redicilously enough.

Fumble-fingered, no-armored 53 mage, no difficult task. As simple as most of the other critters around. Frostbolt to slow, fireball to damage, after that use fireblast, frostnova, arcane missles, ice block (to reset cool downs), rinse and repeat. Synamage tells you exactly how to get 'er done (4th post, green text ^^). Just turn around and look at the pylon, plenty of time to get your frostbolt off.

hi, hunter's Dont do the same error as me, dont let just your pet attack him because u will can't take his head and u will need to restart the quest. I just solo it with my hunter lvl 51 so it pretty easy just need to heal pet.

Anyone that decides to get to the stone by hugging the crater's edge: there Stone Guardians that walk back and forth along the edge and they are lvl 60 elites.

When you accept the quest The Bait for Lar'korwi from Torwa Pathfinder you are given Torwa's Pouch. This will go into your pack. Right click on Torwa's Pouch to open it. It will put items Preserved Pheromone Mixture and Preserved Threshadon Meat into your pack.

Go to Un'Goro Flat Rock (79.9,49.9). Stand on the Un'Goro Flat Rock and right click on Preserved Threshadon Meat that is in your pack. Then right click on Preserved Pheromone Mixture that is in your pack.

Lar'korwi will appear just near the Un'Goro Flat Rock at location 79,49.

As a level 49 frost mage, I could not solo this quest as Lar'korwi resisted every single one of my spells. I managed to run away using Blink, etc, but casters at least should be wary of this quest's level just because he will resist most of your spells until probably around 52 or 53. I will post back when I find the level when I can complete the quest.

Very easy, I soloed this with my level 51 paladin with no bubble and no heals. He didn't even take me down to half health. He did about 26-30 damage each time but I am all plate.

Soloed easily as a lvl 50 Balance druid.

Thanks to Stabs for that tip.

But just run up, use the meat then the pheromones, then cat form -> stealth and stand off to the side. When he comes up, shift moonkin, and use Force of Nature, and just start spamming insect swarm and moonfire until you get the DoTs on him. Then just start using wrath, starfire isn't as good for this fight since it has a long cast time, and a lot of your spells are resisted. I have herbalism, so I used lifeblood once at 50% (but he was already around...20% or so by then).

This guy was soloable with a 49 enhance shaman. I used Water Shield through the whole fight, refreshing as needed. Stormstriked, Lava Lashed and Earth Shocked whenever the cooldowns were up, and had to use a greater mana potion once. Whenever I got below 30ish percent health, I cast healing wave. He hit relatively low for someone 7 levels above.

Don't wait too long to click on the mixture, after placing the bait. It will go away and you have to go get a new pack of bait.

Solo'd with a 50 Feral Druid. Just carve him up in cat form and switch to bear, bash and pop healing touch if your health gets low. He doesnt seem to hit for much damage despite his level. Once you place the meat on the rock, it'll take a few seconds for him to arrive up the path you came in... Interestingly, this is where a GY is and Lar'Korwi actually aggroed a sick 50 human mage who was eating/drinking there on the way up the instead of me, good times...

Solo'd with a 51 protection spec Paladin, never even took me under 95% HP. Just rotate judgement of light, seal of light, holy shield, and consecrate when you think you can spare the mana.

i did this q chain on a 49 hunter, but my pet was 48 cus i recently dinged so as all hunters will know i was getting alot of aggro so i kept using slow down spells and its was over in a couple of secs, and i still had half of my hp left. btw this q chain got me 3.5 bars of xp.

I think I can safely say that any class can solo this mob. Just make sure you play it safe.

As a feral druid it was incredibly easy.

Soloed as a Lvl 49 feral druid. Used one healing potion and healed myself once, stayed in cat form in between and kept attacking him and bleeding him. If you're as low level as I was, having Nature's Grasp accessible is helpful so you can root him while you heal.

I really didn't have any problems doing this though besides finding that tiny rock ^_^

Just f.y.i. if your going north from the quest giver to the pass through the mountains then be sure to skip the first one you see because it only leads to Pterrodaxs and frenzied Pterrodaxs

Solo'd easily as lvl 50 Ret Pala in decent gear, some attacking were missing / parried but after about 40seconds he was down, no need for bubble or any cd's for that matter.

How I did this as a lvl. 51 enhancement shaman in mediocre gear:
- Water Shield.
- Lay bait.
- Plant totems: Windfury, Stoneskin, Healing Stream, Searing or Magma. I've got the buttons for them all in the same taskbar, so I had time to plant them before he got to the bait.
- Lightning Bolt while he was out of melee range.
- Stormstrike, Earth Shock and Lava Lash whenever they were off cooldown.
- Lesser Healing Wave when I needed it. Refresh Water Shield as soon as all three charges have gone.
- Pray that he didn't resist or dodge. Luckily he didn't.
A couple of minutes later, one dead raptor. Ta-daa.

Don't know if anyone is having the same problem as me..... attempted the quest 3 times. i would dismount, place the flesh on the rock, wait ON the rock and the raptor would NOT come. anyone have any tips? or is it just bugged....

Make sure when you put the piece of meat on the flat rock that you use the Preserved Pheromone Mixture after or he won't appear.

Just soloed as a 50 Shaman after respeccing for enhancement. Dropped Strength of Earth, Magma, Healing and Nature resistance totems then spawned meat. Kept hitting with Stormstrike and Lava Lash. Windfury on main hand and Flame on offhand. Use water shield as he will take a lot of mana as he resists a lot of Nature spells at this level. Easy enough though.

Well.. when i did this quest at my lvl 49 warrior in patch 3,3,0 he didnt show up at all.. first his body were there because someone else had killed him, i placed the meat.
then he didnt show up and i waited for like 5 min, i abandoned and got it again then went back but he didnt show up again -_- .. gawd
Anyone else having this ?

just lay down the items you got from the quest and he will spond he is a lvl 56 so if your 52 below get ready make sure you put it ON THE STONE. Its up the mountain.

Just solo'd as LVL 49 Pally with no heirloom gear. Not easy, but doable obviously. Had to pop lifeblood and Gift of Naaru. Used one mana potion, then switched to Seal of Wisdom. Two Holy lights and several Consecrations later I was hrowing Hammer of Wrath. It took four of them to finally drop this thing. I was like OMG why won't you die! It was fun, but the rewards suck for me.

Just solo'd this as a level 51 ele shammy. I thought I might have some trouble due to the level difference, but it was pretty easy. Next to none of my spells missed and I only had to heal once and came out of it with more than half of my mana.

As a 51 Balance druid, i popped treants, and they did most of the damage.
Good thing too, because i missed 5 or 6 spells. >.<

Soloed this as a level 49 Balance Druid in heirlooms.
It was a hard fight, considering his level, and the fact that about every 3 of 5 spells missed him.

Here's what I did, though.
- Refreshed my buffs
- Got a well fed buff with stam
- Topped off my mana
- summoned Lar'korwi
- Got lucky and caught him in my Entangling Roots
- Dropped my faerie fire, moonfire, and insect swarm
- Spammed Starfire like hell.
- When I got to about 65% health, I dropped rejuvenation and regrowth on my self
- At 45% mana, I used innervate
- Once my mana had hit 45% again, I used a potion
- Continued to starfire spam, refreshing debuffs/DoTs as needed

It was a close fight and I was almost OOM when it was done, but no deaths, no issues besides a string of misses.

I just soloed this with my level 48 MM Hunter and figured I would post since the new patch and changes have gone live. I was wary of the level, but the fight turned out to be brief and easy, lasting the length of a single rotation, leaving me without a scratch and my pet without fear of dropping dead.

I sent the pet off with a preemptive Mend, waited until it grabbed aggro, and proceeded to HM>PS>ArS>ArS>ArS>SS>SS>KS. There was a hiccough after the second Arcane Shot when my pet, a level 48 Gorilla, lost aggro, but a quick Feign Death was enough to bring things back in line. Kill Shot was the final nail in the coffin, living up to its name.

This quest is still available (and completable) in 4.03, but the location to complete it has changed. Just stand on the black rock at 70.1\40.9 - where you first got the mixture and in the middle of a skeleton carcass, i.e. where your map is indicating you to be - and right click the meat first, then the vial.

Just did this quest. Uhm I guess now it's completely different. The flat rock is at 70,41 and he'll come from the north, right away. For me, Larkorwi was lvl 52 but I'm seeing different things.

Also, after you kill him, the mobs surrounding him will attack but they are an easy kill.

Totally doable in 4.0.6. Please note, you have to stand ON (or directly beside) the rock (which is not named/labeled, it's just a flay gray rock in the circle of bones) for the items to work. 70, 40 are indeed the correct coords.
Lar'korwi is still level 52 and an easy solo.

Confirmed this quest is still active, but in a wildly different spot from the pre-Cat location. Coordinates 70,41 work just fine. New rock is much smaller than the old one. Level 52 and easy to kill for a level 51 warlock.

Soloed as a 53 Frost Mage. No problems. Mirror Image/Frostbolt combined with Cone of Frost and Frost Nova to ensure criticals took him down. Frost Barrier meant that he barely inflicted any damage on me.

Note that another poster mentioned he came from the north, but in my case he came from the west. So I wouldn't assume that he's consistent.

Be careful with AoE in this fight!

I noticed another poster mentioning that the mobs "with" Lar'Korwi will also attack, but that they are easy kills. I didn't see any mobs accompanying him, but there are several swarms of Juvenile Bloodvine Lashers milling around nearby. They are yellow mobs, but they will all attack if you happen to catch even one of them in an AoE. As the poster said, they're easy kills, but you don't need the distraction or the extra damage when you're dealing with the big lizard. So watch those areas of effect.

Still works, look for small table-like rock by the water in the middle of some strewn bones. Place meat first. 51 Druid, it was simple.

Mother forker, this quest drove me crazy because I was still looking for the stupid rock in the wrong place. Once I found the damn rock, it was pretty easy and quick ... got the quest with no problems, completed, and got reward with no problems.

Yet another incredibly confusing waste of time that Blizzard has become so good at saddling players with. Even after following the directions listed here which are quite good, my weapons suddenly stopped working, so I couldn't damage the creature. Just sat there watching him kill me realizing I was bored out of my mind and waiting for my sub to run out so I can stop playing and go to a game that's not confusing and boring.

The coordinates of the rock are at 70,40. You must lay the meat down on the rock then use the preserve on it.

As of this date, I found the rock (definitely not black at this point, shades of green) at . This is the approximate center of the rock.

/way Un'Goro Crater 70.1, 40.9 Un'Goro Flat Rock

It is about 1/2 a Gnome higher than the surrounding flat area and about 2 1/2 Gnomes long on the longest measurement in the horizontal plane.

No problems on obtaining or completing the quest other than poor precision on the stated coords and uncertainty as to which point in time rock location and/or description changed.

My suspicion is that many people were at the right spot as most of the coordinates given since Patch 4.0.3 are adequate to get one reasonably close. Perhaps many were (like I) looking for a black rock initially.

Thanks and congratulations to Pynda for getting the coords exactly right! In light of THAT, I choose to believe the rock was black at the time of Pynda's comment.

In the full disclosure department, I must admit that I had not specifically checked Pynda's coordinates before finding the rock from alternate comments.

This will be the most difficult part because there is some complexity to the plan. To the north of here, you will find a small trail into the mountains. It was here I saw Lar'korwi last. You will know you are in the right area because of all the bones from massive creatures that once wandered nearby. Take the meat you recovered and place it there. Then, rub this mixture I created on the meat. If both lures mingled together do not bring Lar'korwi to you, then I know nothing else that will.
