Its a dead giant turtle on the water. Jump from the dock and swim a couple yards. Just one mob lv 13 patrol the spot.

Location 36.50 confirmed, also it looks like a big dead “nessie” the infamous lockness monster!

location confirmed all i had to do was kill one of the murlocs and take the bones. It was no problem to do

The Sea Creature can be tracked with Find Herbs. Probably a Glitch.

Coords are correct. I only had to kill two Murlocks, very easy quest for level 13 hunter.

Fun fact: the stranded sea creature's corpse shows up on the minimap with Find Herbs.

If you are a warrior doing the warrior's quest The Shade of Elura, it is at the same location and slightly to the left of Elura, with the new "shiny" mechanics its hard to miss the turtle's skeleton.

Note to those using Carbonite (version is current as of 21 July 2010) that the coordinates it gives are INCORRECT. The carbonite coords put you on an empty beach near a beached turtle with murlocs around it. I was fooled into thinking this was the animal. It is not. The coords 36,50, as the other commenter has pointed out, is correct. For reference it's just a little walk north of the turtle. Good luck!

Is this quest bugged?
Trying to do loremaster, accept the quest, run to the bones... No cog wheel, no !, nothing.

Majestic sea creatures are known to launch themselves at the Darkshore coastline, beached there until they die. Lately, these beasts have been washing ashore in ever-increasing numbers. I've been sent here by the Temple of the Moon to investigate, but the presence of murlocs along the water has made my research difficult.

There is a giant creature washed ashore just south of Auberdine that is ringed by the foul Greymist murlocs. Could you go there and retrieve bones from the creature for our study?
