They can be found in the cave most western placed in The Cauldron. One can easily jump off the cliff side and land next to the cave.

* Him (Kovic) being 50 non elite and does firebolts and rain of fire.
* It (Clunk) a level 48 elite mech-strider.
Kovic drops the Satchel.

I was lvl 60 tier1 2 so can't comment on level of the battle. To me it was easy. But he did eat 3 shadowbolt and some dots.
The way out is filled with lvl 48'ish non elite slaves and golems. Not being packed tight.
Take the elevator one step down, go forth a bit. Take bridge at right hand and you're allmost free again.

Despite Clunk being a Mechanical creature, it's susceptable to Fear.

I was able to solo this as a 48 shadow priest. Good luck.

Dropped in like Sapien said and killed Kovic, but had to run back to my dead body and beg my blueberry to come back to kill Clunk. It wasn't hard - dot, dot, dot, fear, etc. I was a level 48 lock at the time and probably could have killed them both without dying if I'd been a bit smarter about it.

I did this pretty easily as a 50 frost mage. Keep Kovic sheeped and handle Clunk. Just be careful of the mechanical chicken bugging out and going on evade. If you're facing the cave, if you pull Clunk outside he'll path to the right and over a small rock ledge. If you're standing on the metal and not the rock sometimes he'll go on evade as he paths to the right. Happened twice to me, then I realized I was standing on the metal both times. Tried a 3rd time staying on the rock and it worked just fine.

easily soloable as warlock.

- fear crank
- kill kovic
- keep fearing crank and dot him until he is dead.

Very easy. Soloed as a 48 warlock. I did the same thing as above posters. Fear crank until Kovic is dead and then fear dot crank to death.

Soloed at 48 destro lock. Dot/fear Clunk and seduce on Master Kovic. Dont waste mana shadowbolting Clunk cause you'll need to kill Master Kovic after.

One more thing: if you are lock, use seduce to interrupt Kovic casting of RoF/Firebolt.
(you can use that trick with other casters as well...)

Easy to solo, level 50 affliction warlock. Just seduce the humanoid and fear kite the elite. Keep your deathcoil to help your succi when the humanoid breaks seduce. One thing to watch out for is that the mobs tend to run in places where you can't reach the bodies. I had the elite dead somewhere half way up the wall, good thing I didn't need to loot him to complete the quest.

Easy to solo as a mage as well, just sheep kovik and kill clunk alone, then sheep it again to regain mana and/or HP and kill him as well, did it as a 49 fire mage

As of patch 2.3, Master Kolvis is a lvl45. Clunk is a lvl44. Both are now non-elites. A group is obviously no longer required for this quest.

There is a lift at 39.2 53.9. You just take it and move west at its 2nd stop (it stops at 4 floors). They are just on the other side of that path, no aggressive mobs.

Kovic's Trading Satchel contained 16 pieces of Shadow Silk when I opened it.

If anyone else wasn't paying attention to the category of this quest when doing it like I did, it's a Tailoring quest, and it won't count towards Loremaster.

just solod this as a level 44... the mechano strider has around 1500 health i remember correctly

Doesn't appear to count towards loremaster, the previous quest didn't give men anything either.

It gets worse, <name>. They have set up a base of operations here in the Searing Gorge. Trade Master Kovic is heading up the operation and has close ties with the Dark Iron dwarves of the region.

We must strike hard and send a message to their leadership. Slay Trade Master Kovic and his minion Clunk. Bring back his trader's satchel when the job is done.
