To complete this quest you just have to run up to the altar. The hard part is there are level 50 elite trolls on that altar. Use whatever speed increase, or evasion tatic you have and rush up to the altar and hop down and run off. If you can't stealth you will probably die trying to run away afterward but at least you will have the quest completed.

I did this and survived np as a 46 shadow priest, just shielded in shadow, run up, jumped off to the left, and the pretty much deagro once you hit the ground. i had to throw a second shield on, but it's doable.

this quest was really easy with my lvl 47 rogue. just stealth up there, and use distract on the troll on either side of the alter, walk up on the later, and walk away.

Just FYI if you can stealth around to the left or right side of the altar and go behind it, it will complete your quest, and it can be done with no aggro (in stealth) no cogs to use, just walk to it.

There's a chest behind the alter if you can get to it, but I'm not going to try that chest until higher level!

This quest was actually pretty simple.. I completed it as a 44 rogue. Just stay to the side and then you can go behind everything and then to the middle until it says you've comepleted your quest and then you can jump down from either side. it's a pretty simple quest for rogues.. not sure about anything else..

I managed to easily complete it as a 44 shaman by just running up through the middle. If you go straight over the top after the stairway, you can jump over the back of the altar and go under the ledge and the mobs will reset.

I just did this as a level 47 Hunter. Learned the hard way, don't run in with Aspect of the Pack/Cheetah. I somehow managed to live, and was as simple as Bargle's explanation of running up and over the other side to complete the quest.

i solod this pretty easy as a lvl 44 hunter just make sure to clear out the guys on the stairs and then when u reach the top send your pet after the guy on the very back left and then immidatly the guy on the right run through all of them and run back down the stairs simple as pie

Did it as a lvl 46 Warrior.
Ran up there, inspected the altar and ran off with 52 HP left.
Unfortunatly, some wolf decided to join the fun.

Long dead walk indeed.

as a lvl 47 rogue I did this with ease, I stealthed up, went to the back side of the altar, sapped the lvl 47 troll there (imp sap 2/2 recommended, but not needed after next patch) and completed it and stealthed back down = quest complete, but somehow when stopping to write this a puppy found and killed me hehe, so note to self: run far away be4 giving tips :D

45 mage. put on mana shield and dampen magic run up on mount hop off the back side like bargle said and your straight

i just discovered after i ran off the back there is a chest. ( if you are facing the altar from the front it will be on the right side) there was a lvl 47 vilebranch witchdoctor guarding it which is easy to kill and then the chest is yours

This is pretty easy to complete. Just run up and over the top of the Altar and then shoot off to the back left. There's very little fall damage and you complete the quest with taking very little damage. Easy as pie on my 49 warrior.

yes, u get more xp but if ur a lvl 40-49 (46-47 mobs and 50 elites at top of altar) player u cant kill them, its easier to just run for it...as long as u can make it off the altar u can survive, just jump maybe 5 feet down and the mobs will reset, really easy..and no death risk.

it was fairly easy..just runned up with my mount and jumped down..i died when i was down:P but i ress and used my HS,i had make it...im a warlock lvl 40

As a warrior, shield wall also works very well. If you have piercing howl or intimidating shout for when you make your escape then it's all good.

Easy as Priest. Just kill the mobs on the stairs, shield yourself, run straight across the top of the altar and use Psychic Scream when they aggro, and run down on the other side of it, and away. You can't be killed if you do it right.

Easy as a rogue, all you have to do is stealth up to the very top untill u complete the quest then stealth back down.

note: u will probably have to sap one of the guys so they wont see u

I haven't seen anyone mention this, so I will. While you can indeed just run up to the top of the temple to complete this quest, if you later want to summon Gahz'rilla in ZF to complete that quest, you need to actually kill the level 50 elite Qiaga the Keeper. She drops the Sacred Mallet, which can be transformed into the Mallet of Zul'Farrak, which is used at the gong inside ZF to summon Gahz'rilla.

I highly recommend bringing a high level with you, just so you can get the mallet. It's frustrating to be in the middle of ZF and realize no one in your group can summon Gahz'rilla.

Easy as Priest. mount up the stairs,no need to kill the stair mobbs, use PW:S , run straight across the top of the altar and then use Psychic Scream when they aggro, and jump down on the left side....try to not pull the ground mobbs

If you happen to be a gnomish engineer, the Gnomish Cloaking Device makes this quest easy to solo. Just use it near the top of the stairs, run in until the quest is complete, then run back to the stairs. Nothing on the top will aggro on you while you're invisible.

actually, since 2.3, the guys at the top of the altar are no longer elite, just a little higher level, one is a 50

Ok well all i need to say is that the lvl 50 elite is not an elite anymore now that the new patch is out. So its still hard to live while your up there but its not as hard.

Actually, there are two named 50's up there, very close together, plus another mob that might be a minion for one of them. I couldn't attempt Quiga without pulling the other 50.

The altar itself is very easy for a druid as long as you are high enough not to aggro the mobs while stealthed. Just kitty stealth; you can walk right up and right back down again, no problem. Also, I got 6300 exp after the 2.3 patch.

I have a trick: use invisibility potion. That's the easiest way to do this for lo-lvl non-stealth classes :).

There is an even better way to do this. Clean the first few on the stair (they are around level 45) then take your mount, run up, run straight through the elites and jump down behind them. And no one will attack you anymore. If you didn't run straight through them, you can rest here and restore health to try it a second time. That way it worked for me in the third try, because I wasn't sure where I need to go (You need to go to the middle of the altar).

At a lvl 46 mage frost mage was very ez. Kill the first three then mount up the rest of the way then use Ice Barrier and jump off altar and VIOLA!

he he what i managed to do is because im a rogue who is a alchemist and a engineer and i was level 40 at the moment. I used my Gnomish cloaking device just before the top and sprinted in then back out again :p works great. When i stealth ran away at the bottom i used flash bombs for the wolfs sine they were red level for me and easily detected me :p.

Hehe, just wanted to give a thank to the Horde who killed me at the top of the Altar. I was a lvl 48 NE Hunter with a bear-pet making too much agro, and this Horde who suddenly showed up, easely killed me since I was low on health. I watched him kill all the trolls up there before I realeased my spirit; went back to the altar as a whisp, and ressed with no trolls around. Quest done! Yeah!! Hahahaha

I completed this as a 41 hunter just run as far towards the steps as you can. You will die. Come back and resurrect drink some healing potion and finish running to the top. Not the best way to do a quest but at 41 hunter the only way I know to solo this one.

so i am a 44 priest and im on my mount hauling up there. get knocked off my mount with 55 health left. then i bubble, barely make it to the top, die. have to run all the way back there, and rezzed surprisingly far down the pyramid, bubbled again and made it! haha i thought i was screwed when i first died. but all together, a successful mission!

it is really easy i did it with my 42 rouge i stealthed most of the way and vanished when i got to the top then i waited untill full health then used distract went to the top then ran off using sprint

Easy go to the top then on the back of the altar their is an overhang u can go under(they canot atack u there).

I'm a 43 hunter and i simply just killed the dudes on the stairway then sent my pet up the top and made him attack each lvl 50 and use pet mend, ran in and out then used aspect of the cheetah to get down fast with no problem, cept when my pet died. T.T

Had a most pleasant experience this morning trying to get to the top as a 47 Warrior. I'd killed all the other trolls save for the two level 50s and was faffing about, trying to find another way to reach the top via the sides instead of just running up and burning Shield Wall (me loves me cooldowns).

Long story short, I accidentally pulled the two 50s from the side, but jumped down and ran away. When I returned to the top they had disappeared; either they'd gotten stuck on evade mode somewhere along the line or a squad of personal Rogues watching over me had assassinated them and made off with their corpses before I returned. :)

If you're doing right, with level 48 hunter you can fight 2 l50 casters and one l46.
I must only send pet between casters to get all aggro from 3 mobs. I need only 1 health potion.
Use pet Bestial Wrath to kill them faster.

After it, you can loot mallet from them, important for ZF instance quest.

easy as a level 45 ret paladin turn on Blessing of Salvation and run up the steps turn on divine shield and jump up on the alter and then run away!

If you're a warlock, just bring out the Voidwalker. Clear the mobs on the stairs, then run up onto the altar. Once you're up there wait until your health goes down some then you can just Sacrifice the Voidwalker. Jump off the altar and run as fast as you can while avoiding as many mobs as you can. Once you get away from the altar just try to get the mobs off you with Howl of Terror, and use your healthstone/potions when your Sacrifice inevitably wears off. Once you get the mobs off you, start summoning your Felsteed. If you have you're hearthstone already I'd be better to hearth back to the peak than ride all of the way back through the many wolves, trolls, and owlbears that are all too common in the Hinderlands.

EDIT: If you're really good you could throw a Death Coil on one of the trolls before you jump off as well to heal before your Sacrifice wears off. ;]

I think the Altar of Zul is a Ghostbusters reference...Zul was the demigod they fought in the first Ghostbusters movie, who turned into the Sta-Puft marshmallow man.

The layout of the temple is similar to the rooftop area where Zul was first summoned.

Or, if I may be so bold as to make a suggestion... Grow a pair, and ACTUALLY FIGHT THEM. Jeeze, running is for sissies and Wimps. If you can't do the quest by fighting em, than simply do OTHER quests until you CAN. It's not rocket science. I'm a level 47 Warlock, Demo Spec, and took em all out in under 3 minutes. EASILY. And no, I'm not some pathetic 'twink'.

^^ I on this quest do only big circle on the Altar of Zul go to Bosses on this Altar (Qiaga the Keeper) and back to Gryphon Master Talonaxe - and quest Complete :)

45 Hunter with a 45 Gorilla.

I managed to complete the quest without any outstanding damage done to myself or my pet. I started by killing the mobs on the stairs and then I threw a Mend Pet on my gorilla and sent him to aggro Morta'gya, Thundestomp also managed to catch Qiaga and a Vilebranch Soothsayer. Ran up to the alter to complete the quest and took off down the stairs without Aspect of the Cheetah on. Recalled my pet as soon as I got halfway down the stairs (putting him on Passive just in case he decided to get angry at the guys throwing lightning bolts at him) and continued to run until all mobs deaggroed.

If you want your pet to live throughout the ordeal, make sure to keep Mend Pet up on him at all times. With Rank 5 (200 health/3 secs) I managed to keep him at about half health while taking a couple lightning and shadow bolts myself. Nothing too troublesome though. Also watch out for the two mobs near the altar (Soothsayers for me) they will aggro you once you meet the requirements for the quest. I just ignored them and kept on running.

Just completed as a lvl 48 warrior...lined my horse up with the altar and just galloped straight trying to avoid mobs ..straight up to the altar and jumped over the back( completing the task..lost a bit of health but heart stoned out on landing after i mined the Gold ore

I did it without sacrificing or even using my mount. I killed the npcs at the steps pulled the first lady infront of the two lv. 50s and then went to the side jumped the corner accross the fire. Killed the other guy by the alter then just simple walke up the the alter and got the quest complete.

Sharpbeak was not with the Witherbark trolls. Perhaps the Vilebranch trolls took him. Go to the Altar of Zul on the western edge of Vilebranch territory and search for the gryphon child.
