Highest drop rate seems to be off the Forestriders (14-16). http://wowhead.com/?npc=2322 ... They are located north of Auberdine and Bashal'Aran.

It's best to do this quest in addition to the other kill quests in the area, like for the Rabid Thistle Bears and Moonstalker Fangs. :D

Horrible drop rate and these things run when close to dying and run FAST. Save something that will stun them when they get close to running.

This drop rate is horrible. It took 2 hours for a friend and I, (both 13) to get 10 pieces of meat. So unless you want this recipe for cooking or just want to grind xp, you should skip it.

This is odd, i have 375 skill cooking, i dont have the recipe and still she doesnt give any quest.
Anyone knows if its really her?

Just did this as a 73 with cooking in the mid 200s. The drop rate for me was extremely good, but I have done this on other toons which reflect more of the poor drop rate described here. I was in the northern half of the zone and it took me about 15 kills (aka 3 minutes) to get the meat.

Confirmed it does not count for LoK, however it does count for the 3000 Quests a.k.a "The Seeker".

Confirmed as well that the NPC stated in info does start and end the quest as well as give the recipe. If you cannot see the quest from this woman then you have already completed the quest and misplaced the recipe.

However, if you really need it for the cooking achievements then you can get it. It's just a pain if you're alliance. Tari'qa a Horde NPC in the Barrens is confirmed as selling the Recipe: Strider Stew. Cross faction AH ftw...

If you're not a hunter, get your hands on Tracker Snacks to try to make the striders easier to find.

SOO much fast to go after the regular forest striders. I went from 1 for 20 on the fledglings to 5 on 9 for the big guys.

So, in 17 Forestrider kills, the drop rate equals out to around 1/3, or about 33%.
Note the percentage is a rough equation using simple reducing.

This quest did not count toward Loremaster of Kalimdor.

Dispite quest tracker saying so, you can get the quest item from other striders in the area. Also the tooltip will NOT display the mobs as counting toward the quest (even the ones in the area highlighted by the map / quest tracker.

No Strider Stew for you! As noted by wowhead above, this quest is no longer available. Alanndarian Nightsong was captured and killed by Rit'ko after the cataclysmic events.
