Quickly jump into the river and you won't have to chase her far. Very easy!

Its near 13:50 on the map of Azshara, if the Moonstone isnt on the Altar then you just have to wait for it to respawn.

Firstly, make sure your hearthstone is on cooldown, go to Shattrath and portal to Orgrimmar (if your horde), then fly to valormok in Aszhara, mount up and head west.

13,48 is the exact co-ordinates. As you approach this location from the east, you will see the moonstone on an alter.

You interact with the stone as if to take it, at the end of the channel the goblin will spawn and sap you (As museyes said above, have your pvp trinket equipped to instantly break this).

They jump instantly in the water (having ninja'd the stone off you) and start swimming south down the river. There are mines that will Frost nova you (shift in and out to continue) and other shoot you upwards (knocking you out of aquatic form).

Personally I got to 7,94 before catching up with her. More and more speed boosts become available further down the path, I got 3 or 4 in total.

As Duxa says, for the first part of the trek, hug the right hand side of the river, you'll avoid most of them.

To 'win' simply catch up (and overtake her) at which point she will give in and stop, asking you not to hurt her.

Simply speak to her to say 'hand it over' and she'll drop the moonstone in your bag!

In the case that you wouldn't catch up with her, she's using high quality goblin engineering frost grenades. And as we all know, those things tend to backfire...

Of course it's worth remembering that Ashara is very close to Moonglade. Why got to Shatt or stone elsewhere, when you have a free port to Moonglade that's available any time.

Quest was fairly easy, but I was slow to start. Even if you hit every second bomb, you eventually catch... even if that means you're almost near Durotar.
Other word of advice.... go from flight path north along the east side of the cliff. The item you pick up (and then have stolen from you by the NPC) is at the very end.

The frost nova buff you get, is in fact that, a buff. Just right click it off while swimming!

After she jumped into the river, I mounted up and ran south to the bridge Azshara - Ashenvale. Jumped down into the water when I saw her on the minimap with Track Humanoids in cat form. She gave up then.

Killed a rare spawn undead on the way too :)

Just so no1 makes a idiot choice like i did... dont try swimming all the way up the river to find the stone.. cause once ur in you cant get out until about the Horde warsong camp... and as noted above, if you use your pvp insigna thing.. u catch her in like 2 sec :) Enjoy

In order to "escape" the Frost Grenades, simply make a macro that contains

/cancelaura Rizzle's Frost Grenade

and click it whenever you get trapped. This will remove the effect without you having to switch forms.

Nobody has mentioned it yet: she actually swims under the surface of the river. Caught me off guard and she swam right under me on 2 attempts before I figured out I had to be under the water.

make sure you start this on toop of the hills. dont swim up or down the river prior to starting, dont fall in, nothing. stay on the hills until you are 100% posative you started. you have to sim all the way back down towards ogrimmar to get on top of the hills again. very very very annoying

Don't trinket out of the sap, it makes this really stupid and anticlimactic, i did trinket and i ended up catching her about 60 yards from the boat...

Don't trinket out, don't go running down the shore to the bridge, just jump in and chase her down. It's great fun!

It takes a little while but I'm glad I didn't come hear first and try any of these tricks, I had a ball chasing her down the river, dodging bombs and picking up speedy buffs.

And why would anyone be rating down comments saying "try to have fun"? I think you people just forget that the game is about fun, challenges and satisfaction when you beat them. What you will achieve by cheating game? Actually the whole race is already suprising easy in Swim Form (maybe it should be done in caster form?), yet still its better racing than getting around the stun and using mount.

I don't have a PvP trinket and didn't bother with the "Mount to the Bridge" tactic. I completed it on my first try. I only saw 2 speed boost and the first one occurred right before I was ice blocked. I caught her just before the water fall into Orgrimmar. Which is probably as far as she goes.

If you don't have a trinket you can use a Free Action Potion before you try and loot the stone.

Just did it, without trinketing anything, just shapeshifted to aquatic form to race her down, was rather fun (a lot less painful than the netherwing race for a start). If you go this way (that seems far more easy than running on you mount trying to catch her), just remember to shapeshift from and to aqua when you get frozen. You should catch her up before seeing the first speed boost.

One thing... the altar with the moonstone on it is on a little ledge that looks like it's accessible from another ledge which is on the same level. It isn't, I found out the hard way... slid into the river and had to swim all the way down to the Warsong Lumber Camp in Ashenvale in order to climb out again and try a second time. Aargh! So approach the altar from the ledge above.

Blizzard has to be the worst no mind jerks (and yes I am taming this ALOT) in all of the Video Game industry.

I have done alot of dumb quests in WoW, but this is by far the WORST and most STUPID quest.

I just completed this quest a few days ago. The trick is to swim on the right side of the river and shape shift in and out of aquatic when the cute bombs freeze you. This was definately a fun quest!!

^-^ I loved this quest. I chased her quite a ways down the river. Seemed like every time I was anywhere close, I either got frozen or I got blasted by a random mine so close to the middle that you couldn't avoid it... -_- I wasn't really in a rush to catch her anyways, it was fun. Enjoy it because unfortunately you can only do it once! I thought as I jumped I was gonna hit ground, thankfully, I didn't. Also, make sure you are dropping the freeze effect by going -> caster -> water form again. I got very far behind her even doing that, to the point where I lost sight of her. If you ARE NOT doing that, you'll definitely lose her.

The good news is you can let her shoot off down the river and after she stops yelling you can return to the moonstone and resummon her if you mess it up. This is good for those who just assumed it was a "collect the moonstone and you're done" quest and were quite surprised to have it nabbed by Rizzle. (The thought of having to go all the way back to Zangamarsh to pick up the quest again after abandoning was highly unappealing!)

I agree with others that it's a fun chase, a bit like a platform game... avoid the bombs, pick up the speed boosts and chase the enemy :)

This quest was extremely annoying from me because Questhelper showed the objective to be in the water, instead of the on the land further north. So I jumped in the water, swam North, realized I shouldn't be in the water and spent literally 15 minutes trying to get out. You have to go very far South to find the first place to get out.

So my advice is DO NOT jump into the water until the moonstone gets ganked. The quest starts on land further North on the Azshara side.

Also, a swim speed potion will really help and you'll catch him before having to chase him for miles.

Super easy quest! As mentioned above,I didn't even bother running the ridge in travel form. After clicking the altar, i jumped into the water in front of the boat, went aquatic form and swam. Every so often, I popped into kitty to track her and then back to aquatic. Easy to avoid underwater bombs. It's quite a chase but pretty simple all in all. Fun quest :-)

Using a free action potion works too. Just pop it right before you loot. I jumped in and caught her within 5 seconds.

lol ive always wondered. get a shamy friend to use water walking when u get into the water... not before or u will take fall damage! when ur shamy casts water walking use a swiftness pot the catch the person in no time flat!

PVP trinket didn't help me at all. I caught her near the Durotar border, after hitting bombs half a screen away from me, getting frozen about 6 times (shifted immediately), and hitting 3/3 boosts.

With the swimspeed glyph and the alliance PVP trinket, you basically trinket out of the stun, jump in the water, pass her within like 5 seconds, turn around and get the orb thing from her. EZ PZ.

having a Glyph of Aquatic Form makes the chase not much of one.

also, make sure to get the moonstone at it's altar on the cliffs above the river, before you go swimming. I wasted a good 30 minutes swimming around in the river, looking for that moonstone altar.

this quest is really lame and boring. with the glyph of aquatic form it makes it so you catch her before you even realize your chasing her. i got hit by a frost nova and she gave up. kinda lame. would have been cooler to do if i was lvl 70...

Yet another quest that makes us regret not having read it completly...

"azshara side of river"
"seek the moonstone near the boat"
"aproach the side by land from the azshara side

basicly enter azshara and follow the east bank of the river staying on the land, dont swim in the river, but follow it upstream on the cliffs.

once you reach the source you should see a small canoe down in the river, do not jump, the moonstone is really on those cliffs, kind of hidden near the edge of the cliff.

Fly to Azshara, follow the river North on the Azshara side. Near the waterfall, go to the edge of the river and you will see the moonstone. A Goblin will take the stone and jump into the river. Jump into the river and follow her. She lays down bomb type things, dodge them, they shoot you into the air and slow you down. Basically you chase her for quite some time then she gives up and gives you the moonstone.

This is a fun quest and the great thing is you cannot realistically fail even if it takes a bit of time! Forgot all about crazy anti-stun trinkets and potions and what not - this is the kind of stupidity that depresses game designers and developers and ultimately they start to wonder what is the point of putting effort into fun quest chains if people just want to tank and spank everything or collect their one millionth randomly generated collection quest object with appalling drop rates!

Let her sap/stun you, then jump in the water and chase her down. It's great fun and takes no time at all, especially if you already have the aquatic form glyph (you do don't you? - its the best minor glyph imo :)

Lol this quest is so easy i started the quest used Medalion of horde and jumped in cat form to wate rthen used aqua form and i allready won xD.Try useing glyph tat increses ur speen in water by 50% helps u pass her fast if u wnt get catch in the mine

Once you fall into the river, it's NOT easy to get out of. I actually zoned back to Moonglade and took the bird back to Azshara, it was that much of a pest to get out of the river.

Anyway, as stated earlier, very easy quest. Click the moonstone, ignore that fact that she jumps in, take your 8 second stun standing there, and then just mount up and ride your epic mount along the side of the river. Be careful not to fall in or get stuck on the mountains/trees, and just keep riding south along the east side of the river (ie the same side you started the quest by clicking on the moonstone). You can't track her while you're riding because you're not in cat form, so just ride along for about 20 seconds, and you'll be way ahead of her.

On an epic mount you will be easily 20 seconds ahead of her, so just ride for a bit and then jump into the river, being careful not to die because of falling damage. She will eventually appear and swim past you a bit and then beg you not to hurt her, at which point you can talk to her.

The purpose of this quest is to demonstrate your mastery of your Swimming form, just as the purpose of the entire quest chain is to use a different form for each opponent (bear, cat, caster). It's supposed to help you feel like you've become a master of all aspects of your chosen path and that you are finally worthy to learn the arts of the Druids of the Talon.

While there are plenty of tricks to get around these challenges, you are only selling yourself short if you use them. Try to get through these challenges, as intended without exploits, at level 70, and I guarantee that it will be a much more memorable experience.

With glyph of aquatic form I caught her maybe 10 seconds into the chase. She froze me in place and actually swam back to me. I was looking forward to a fun chase too. :(

This is a fun and flavourful quest, like the ones before it, that really encourages you to try out all of your forms. This part is quick and easy, and it's nice to see Azshara being used more.
All in all, this line makes me happy to be a druid.

*seething with frustration*

Just completed this quest, and out of my eight level 80s, this was easily the most annoying quest I've had to do. If you read all of the above comments, you'll have the information you need to be able to do it, but hopefully I can piece together the work from the above posters to help a fresh druid a little more.

Firstly steps 1 - 4 of Zeophex's comments were spot on, reproduced here:

(1) Teleport to Moonglade
(2) Fly to Talrendis Point, Azshara
(3) Ride North, along the East side of the river
(4) Click on the Moonstone and get stunned for 8sec

You have to ride for quite a way going North - you'll spot the boat in the water and then fairly soon after you'll see the orb. It's clearly visible - a large white sparkly sphere. You're working along the side of cliffs above the river, and be extra careful not to fall into the river, as getting out is massively annoying (think: about a ten minute round trip to get back to the orb).

When you click on the orb, a small green goblin girl appears who stuns you. It's actually the second of the two submitted screenshots. Important: select her as your target. You might want to consider grouping up with one of your friends, just so you can put a raid icon on her - but I was soloing this quest at the time.

Rizzle Sprysprocket is the NPC that appears, and indeed saps you for about 8 seconds. I attempted to shape-shift into cat but it said the ability was unusable at that time due to the stun. Others have mentioned different tricks to beat the stun, but I was toughing it out without resorting to grinding up the mats for a free-action potion or similar.

While you are sapped, Rizzle jumps down into the water, and starts moving quickly down the river. This is why you need to have her selected, as you can see more easily the goblin moving away from you. Once the sap has worn off, you can either try Zeophex's method (cat form, dash, track humanoids), or jump in the river.

Zeophex method
Zeophex suggests mounting up - which is what I tried first, not really knowing what I was looking for, and shot South down the banks, before shortly getting the emote saying that I had overtaken her and she gave up - but at that time I didn't know what I was looking for, and track humanoids only works in cat form. I carefully combed the entire river, several times - only to realise that Rizzle despawns after a short while, so you have to be quick.

In retrospect, I would say enable track humanoids before clicking the orb, then shifting into cat form after the sap wears off, then pop Dash and chase down the river bank before jumping in would've been far easier than what I did, but as always these things are only obvious in hindsight (hence this post).

Idiot jumping into the river method
I suppose this is what Blizzard always intended for us to do - after all, this long quest sequence was clearly designed to show the full spectrum of the different druid abilities, and this quest is all about the aquatic form. So, let's say you want to do it the Blizzard way, and have just flung yourself off the cliff after the rapidly receding goblin.

Firstly - you may quite reasonably think you are going to plummet and land on hard rock, triggering an instant fall-death, but the gradient of the cliff is such that you will scrape down and land safely in the water.

Secondly, you might be expecting this whole chase sequence to only take about 15 - 30 seconds. Wrong. You're looking at several minutes.

Immediately pop aquatic form, and start following her South down the river. A few notes:

(1) Everything takes place below the surface of the water, including Rizzle, who swims below the surface (thank you, PirateNipple. Oh, wait ... is that your real sign-in name?)
(2) By the time you hit the water, Rizzle is already so far ahead that only by having her selected (which you did while you were sapped, remember) will you be able to see a very small green name bar in the far murky distance under the water. You start miles behind her
(3) You have two main obstacles in the water - floating mines, and Rizzle's frost grenades
(4) Mines can be fairly easily avoided, they trigger approx 25 yards radius. Mostly they can be safely avoided, but the river narrows very closely after about 2 minutes so triggering some of the mines becomes inevitable. They throw you up into the air when they explode, which breaks aquatic form, but does no noticeable damage. As soon as you hit the water again, pop aquatic form again and keep swimming
(5) The real annoyance is - randomly from time to time, without any apparent trigger - Rizzle will freeze you on the spot like a mage's frost nova. The freeze lasts about 6 seconds which feels like an eternity. I do not believe these are triggered by the mines, I think it's just a random effect
(6) Other posters have made reference to the speed-up buffs. In case you don't PVP, like me (the only time I PVP is during bizarre world event achievements), what you are expecting to see are large, bright yellow / orange winged boot icons, suspended under the water. If you swim through these, you will get a very short speed increase boost for about ten seconds. However, do not expect to see any at all until you have been swimming for about a minute - but they do start to appear a little more commonly after a while
(7) Rizzle is carrying a weapon with a very strong red glow, which makes it easier to see her in the water when you are getting close
(8) Rizzle's frost grenade is probably scripted to back-fire after about 3 or 4 minutes into the chase, which slows her down, presumably to give you a chance to catch up

What made this quest so annoying is that on my third and final successful run, for the first four speed boosts I managed to acquire, it was immediately followed by me being frozen by Rizzle's frost grenade, so my speed up buff ticked away while I was stuck, frozen to the spot. I confess I indulged in some high quality swearing at this point.

Final notes

When you overtake Rizzle, she emotes, and stops moving. You move up to her and can interact with her like a "speak to an NPC". In the conversation dialogue box, there is an option asking her to hand over the stone. As a theory, and obviously not tested (are you mad, man?), I suspect that Rizzle despawns rather quickly. So move up to her promptly to ensure your quest can be completed.

In all likelihood, you might not get it right first time. If this is the case, and you are stuck in the river, the first viable place I found that allowed me to get out was actually deep in Ashenvale. Follow the river South until you reach the letter "C" in Warsong Lumber Camp on the in-game map. You can follow the large ramp leading South and up to the right, before looping back through the camp and riding all the way back into Azshara and following the river once again.

*laughing* I think Blizzard just might have been aware of how annoying they made this quest. When you complete it, this is the text: "You look like you've been through quite an ordeal. Was the moonstone really that hard to find?". Nice touch, Blizz.

After failing twice and trying to chase her down the river, i found the easiest way was to click on the moonstone, take the stun for the 8 seconds, mount up on fast mount then ride back to the south bridge and jump into the river. Changed to cat form and put on track humans, then I started to swim back up and meet her which was just a short way up the river. That was the easiest way to do it. Good luck.

I just did this and was easy. I flew into talrendis point as an aliance druid and got on mount and rode the mount on land all way north along the river but not entering the river till i saw a water fall. once saw the waterfall i looked around land side of Azshara of land and found moonstone. once i clicked on it i was stunned and the little guy jumped into the river in which you have to follow. once in river chasing him south, use your fish form to chase him and when you hit a frost stun cast cat form to break it and then go back to fish form to resume the chase. do this over and over till u catch him then click on him to get the moonstone

As a raid geared Level 80 Balance Druid (boomkin), I can verify the general stream of directions on this quest.

1. Ride along the TOP of the cliffs until you reach the moonstone, which is on the very edge of the cliff, sitting on a stone table/altar.

2. Trinket out of the stun if you can.

3. Get on a fast mount (100% speed) and haul your tail to the Bridge between Azshara and ashenvale

4. Go cat form, TURN ON TRACK HUMANOIDS.

5. Jump in the water and face down the river toward Azshara, go underwater for as long as you can (remember, getting a breath only takes a few moments to renew the whole bar), and wait for her to show up. As long as you track her, she will 'appear' a short distance away and you can swim up and talk to her.

6. Teleport to Moonglade, go over to Darnassus, grab any supplies you need, then hit the blasted lands portal in the temple, go into Outland and fly to the closest FP in Zang, then ride to the expedition.

7. Congratulate yourself for being a druid and therefore a superior quester.

Just did the quest, it helps to have Glyph of Aquatic Form (You swim at 100%) bombs avoidable and easy to shift out of root.

Just did this quest. Used a PVP trinket to break the stun and jumped into the water, swam ahead of the goblin for a while then around her, got snared a few times. She eventually stopped and gave up. I think this quest has been nerfed majorly. I do have the Aquatic form glyph which helped.

If you happen to be AFK when you saw the lore at the beginning of the quest, you will loose the event.

You'll see an emote of ""See? I've got the Southfury moonstone and there is not a thing you can do about it. So long!"

When that happens, just run back to the on that altar. You can restart the event again without abandoning the quest

I just wasted a whole lot of time. I jumped in the water to swim after her and didn't notice the yell that she gave up, so I kept going - and kept getting chilled. Then I saw the yell in chat and swam all the way back to where I jumped in, but couldn't find her, so I swam down the river until I hit Durotar. That's when the chill grenades stopped coming. I guess it's pretty easy to just swim on past the goblin and not find her while chasing her. Be warned!

Having the extra 50% in water speed glyph makes this even easier. Caught her in like 15 seconds.

If the essences are combined within a rare gemstone such as a Southfury moonstone, you'll be able to release them when you're prepared to challenge Anzu.

The only problem is that Southfury moonstones are only found on the Azshara side of the river, on the cliffs near the river's source.
