The Putrid Vine drops from Atal'alarion, you have to activate the smaller statues inside sunken temple before he spawns in the lowest part of the temple, the one with the large statue.

Killing Atal'alarion also spawns the statue which finishes http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=3447, so you may want to have both quests in your log.

Is this it? The Alliance version (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=8418) has 3 rewards - seems Horde got a bit shafted here :(

Alliance rewards are easy replaced before crossing the dark portal:
- Trinket is not very useful. You would choice Blackhand's breadth as soon as you can get it. All green trinkets you can get with JC are better than this.
- Sword is very easy to replace. You can get the AV polearm around the same level.
- The ring was the best choice before Jewelcrafting was here, now you can get better rings with JC. Better rings in first quests in outland as well.

Horde trinket is very hard to replace before 64~65, especially for prot pallys. Holy paladins will replace it faster I think. (there's a very good drop in Blood furnace)

The Scourgebane has a 30 minute cooldown and can be used as many times as you want.

Oh please...15 stamina and 150 AP against demons? This is FAR better than the rewards for alliance paladins.

A terrible sword.

A ring replaced easily at 60/outland.

A trinket worth 3% spell/melee crit at 60?

15 stam is a good amount for a trinket, and the bonus is not bad.

Aside from the stamina boost provided by the item the trinket is useless because of the 30 minute cooldown. Outland if infested with demons and Hellfire P's initial quests have you killing tons of demons (no way you're going to do that in less than 5 minutes).

These instructions are from a Horde's point of view concerning two other quests you can have in your log:

Kakesu (the above poster before me) is talking about the quest entitled Secret of the Circle which is in a quest chain.

The very beginning of the quest chain starts with Witch Doctor Uzer'i in Feralas. You must visit him or you will not get the latter quests. His quest, The Sunken Temple is simple, he just wants you to talk to Marvon Rivetseeker in Tanaris, who gives you The Stone Circle quest. That is where you go to Ratchet and fetch Marvon's Chest.

Marvon's Chest leads to the two Sunken Temple quests: Into the Depths and Secret of the Cirlce.

This is a lot of flying all over the place but no fighting to get to these. If you've quested in Feralas you may have already visited Witch Doctor Uzer'i. I thought I did so I went to Marvon Rivetseeker in Tanaris first but apparently I was wrong and I had to go to the Witch.

Hmm, we (Horde) seem to have gotten the shaft on our Pally class quest.

Not a bad trinket, I'd like more options though. :-/

I did this quest simply for the experience. The trinket isn't very useful in most situations, considering there's only a handful of undead/demon mobs.

Can someone tell me where the instance is so I can finish my quest? I have no Idea where it's at.

Just soloed this quest as lvl 50, yes, 50, protadin. It wasn't at all easy, and I think I got just as lucky there at the end as anything else.

Clearing all the trash to summon him was like any normal prot aoe experience, but let me tell you, Atal'alarion himself is not. Firstly, unlike what we seek, he doesn't swing fast, he swings slow and hits like a mack truck. Troll on roids indeed.

Secondly, he has two interrupts, one of which will kill you, that is, he knocks you high into the air and when you land you take massive dmg. You can eliminate that by pulling him with avenger's shield from the stone stairs, then backing up a ways and hitting him with judgement of light, be careful not to just go straight back into the tunnel, as he will reset.

And that's the main thing, now that you've eliminated his ability to kill you in that manner, it's all proper mana management, pot consumption, bubbling, and of course, lay on hands.

Try using Devotion Aura instead of Ret, and keep BoSanct up for the dmg reduction.

sigh, yet another sunken temple quest, like every other chain quest at lv50+

I'm not sure why blizzard push the all quests into this one dungeon.

Just completed this quest while working on Loremaster achievement.
It does NOT count towards Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms.

If you wish to turn these stones into a weapon to fight the Scourge, you must acquire something equally vile to fortify them.

An ancient evil lies hidden at the bottom of the Temple of Atal'Hakkar in the Swamp of Sorrows. Release the creature there and destroy him, taking only a small part of his body back to Mehlar Dawnblade. My guards will deliver the scourgestone fragments to Mehlar.
