Guild Leveling Effectively Removed in Warlords of Draenor
Blizzard will be changing how guild perks and leveling work in Warlords of Draenor.
All guilds will essentially be level 25, and some perks will be streamlined, such as flight path taxis moving faster instead of requiring
Cavalgue Como o Vento
. Due to some unintended poor behavior among players, the Cash Flow perk will be removed in Warlords of Draenor as well. Continue reading for the full post!

Ask the Devs #6: Guild Advancement
Blizzard has answered their sixth installment of Ask the Devs focusing on guild advancement in Cataclysm. The topics were fairly broad, but they give a great deal of insight into how Blizzard feels about its current guild system--from the risks of a perk-based system to what future guild levels will look like. Still, it wasn't the most exciting Q+A. It feels like there were a lot of missed opportunities to ask some harder hitting questions about the state of guilds in Cataclysm, particularly how many top PvE guilds have disbanded or suffered a decline since this system's implementation as well as future guild rewards.

Blizzard have just released some specific details about the upcoming
Guild Finder

Patch 4.1 Guild Challenges Detailed by Blizzard
Blizzard has just recently released extensive details about the new Guild Challenges that are coming with Patch 4.1. Unfortunately, they aren't as robust as many players had hoped, but there's always opportunity for an update down the line! These challenges (as
we mentioned before
) task players with completing dungeons, raids and rated battlegrounds in guild groups for a large guild experience and monetary reward (at the appropriate guild level / reputation level).
Patch 4.1 will go live with three guild challenges:
Guild Raid Challenge:
Kill any Cataclysm raid boss while in a guild group. Requires at least 8 (in 10-player) or 20 (in 25-player) guild members in raid. Can be completed 1 time per week, rewards 3000000 guild experience.
Guild Dungeon Challenge:
Complete any Cataclysm regular or heroic dungeon while in a guild group. Requires at least 3 guild members in party. Can be completed 7 times per week, rewards 300000 guild experience.
Guild Rated Battleground Challenge:
Win a Rated Battleground while in a guild group. Requires at least 8 guild members in raid. Can be completed 3

Guild Challenges Implemented on Patch 4.1 PTR
The
previously mentioned
guild challenges
have just started showing up on the PTR! You can rest assured that we'll have them added to our
PTR website
but for now you can take a look at the updated interface and get an idea of what kind of "challenges" we'll be facing! These challenges will be an awesome way to earn tons of guild experience and appear to have weekly caps -- For example, the Heroic dungeon challenge can be completed 7 times, most likely in a row with the changes to the
Daily Heroic system
! Sounds awesome to me!

Guild Transfer Option Coming Soon
Transferring servers as a guild has always been needlessly hard. Your guild bank usually has too much gold to bring over and your guild ranks are disrupted when reformed--and with the guild reputation system that's now in place, it's become an even bigger nightmare. It seems that Blizzard finally intends to do something about this, as today they've announced that there is going to be a guild relocation and renaming feature coming sometime in the future to World of Warcraft.
If nothing else, this should provide some more incentive to take use of free server transfers that are offered time to time. And hey, who hasn't dreamed of renaming their guild before?
We want to give everyone an early heads-up regarding our plan to implement a guild relocation service for World of Warcraft. The idea is for a guild leader to be able to transfer a guild to another realm. The guild structure remains intact, including the guild leader, guild bank, ranks, and guild name (depending on availability).
Guild members who decide to relocate with their guild may initiate their own paid character transfer. Upon a successful transfer they will automatically be par

Blizzard Posts on Upcoming 4.1 Features (Including Guild Challenges!)
It looks like Patch 4.1 will include a feature we weren't expecting -
guild challenges
! I'm sure many of you remember the
heated discussion regarding guild reputation
on the official forums a while back, where many players suggested adding guild quests as a method of earning reputation and experience. Looks like Blizzard agreed! We don't have any details yet on these quests or what they'll entail or reward, but you can be sure that as soon as the information is available we'll bring it to you!
Warriors and clothies will be happy to learn that ZA/ZG will also feature appropriately itemized pre-raid ranged slot weapons, something that many players were extremely disappointed over the Justice Points vendor lacking. In addition, as a little something for archaeologists - players will appropriately leveled archaeology will be able to unlock the new Edge of Madness bosses in Zul'Gurub! Players may recall that in Classic Zul'Gurub, this event required an alchemist to farm annoying materials (
Sangue dos Heróis
, yecch) to create the potion required to start the event. Now, this awesome random b

Looking for Guild Feature Coming in 4.1
Blizzard has finally found the time to work on development and testing of a new, in-game Looking for Guild feature, which will hopefully come with patch 4.1! This tool (presumably triggered via a command such as /lfg) will function similarly to the Dungeon Finder and Looking for Raid tool (yes, that still exists) and will allow players to set certain criteria to find the guild thats right for them. I'd assume that recruiting guilds will be able to configure their guild's requirements and specify which roles they are seeking. Not very many details are available on this feature just yet, but when they are we'll definitely keep you guys updated! In the meantime, check out some preliminary screenshots of the tool as it exists currently on the PTR!

Latest Cataclysm Hotfixes (Feb 15)
Just a few new hotfixes today - including a buff to raid boss kill guild reputation / experience gain! Awesome!
General
The amount of guild reputation and guild experience gained from killing a raid boss has been dramatically increased, as the previous rate felt too low compared to the difficulty of progressing through raid content. This change will require a realm restart to take effect, which will be next Tuesday's weekly scheduled maintenance at the latest.

Blizzard on Guild Reputation 2: Electric Boogaloo
Looks like the discussion is heating back up in the guild reputation thread
we reported on
a few days ago. Blizzard poster Bashiok has replied to a few more posts in
this thread
, offering more insight into why guild reputation works the way it does and why these restrictions are necessary to prevent abuse. While I definitely agree that proper restrictions should be in place to prevent abuse of the system, I also know that Blizzard is more than capable of implementing changes
without
allowing abuse.
Many of you guys had some excellent suggestions to improve the guild reputation system (that guild leader-specified daily quest thing was great!) but sadly there has been no mention of any changes to it in the near future. Oh well, at least I'm almost Revered with my own guild. :(

Blizzard on Guild Reputation: Is the cap acceptable?
There was a semi-heated discussion going on (which has since magically disappeared) on the official forums regarding the concept and mechanics behind guild reputation. As many of you already know, guild reputation can be earned by completing various tasks, such as completing a dungeon or boss kill in a guild group, or by turning in quests. Guild reputation is required for certain rewards earned via guild leveling. The current guild reputation cap is 3500 (adjusted to 3675 and 3850 via the
Queridinho
Guild Perks).
For many players, this simply isn't enough. Others are disappointed in the lack of options for which to actually gain the reputation - and I have to say I agree with them there. I've been the guild master of my own guild for well over a year now and despite being one of the most active players and participating in basically everything that we do, I have lower guild reputation to than my guildies thanks to a reputation bug that Blizzard refused to admit existed. I gain reputation for completing seemingly random quests and occasionally whenever we kill a boss, though I agree that I'd much rather see reputation awarded for doing things that actually b
