The Alliance and Horde transportations are littered with NPCs who all have their reasons to visit the Dragon Isles. It's easy to miss these conversations so we've compiled them below.
Alliance
The Alliance Expedition to the Dragon Isles is transported by the ship the Rugged Dragonscale. Members from all over the Alliance can be found on board, excited, hopeful, and - in at least one case - violently seasick.
Korston Willard resigned from being a Night Watchman in Duskwood for the sake of adventure and a bit of sun.
Korston Willard
For the better part of two decades, I've worked for the Night Watch in Duskwood. It was a hard job on the best days. On the worst ones... well, I've taken a lot of funeral leave in those twenty years.
I put in my resignation last week. It's good to feel the sun again.
Tizzi Twistcog is an Engineer... we think. It sounds like Engineering.
Tizzi Twistcog
Exciting News! I received funding from the workshop to finish my research in the Dragon Isles!
I'm working on electrothermal structures and their impact on arclight magnophoresis in environments with and without quasi-temporal samophlangic resonance.
Rudimentary principles certainly, but just think of the applications!
Selindra Nightdancer seems concerned that her companion, Dauvin Thornworth, is a little confused about dragons.
Dauvin Thornworth
Right, so, dragons are basically just big birds. That means they live in big trees.
You know what else lives in big trees? Bloody big squirrels.
I intend to find those squirrels. And when I do, I will indeed chase them mercilessly, mark my words!
Selindra Nightdancer
I am beginning to suspect that Dauvin has no idea what a dragon is.
But he is paying me to accompany him as a "big tree expert" and so I... suppose I will see where this goes.
Ogdan Stoneforge is not like other dwarves.
Clovis
Oh, uh, hello. Name's Clovis.
My job 'ere is holdin' the captain's rum, and runnin' downstairs tae get more of it when he runs dry.
Somehow pays more'n the Ashvane Company ever did though.
And Clovis has a
very
important job.
Ogdan Stoneforge
Ye know, a lotta dwarves won't set foot on a boat. We're dense and heavy, and they're afraid they'd sink straight tae the bottom if they went overboard.
Not me though. I like tae feel the sea breeze in me moustache.
Reluun and Tishad were roommates on the Genedar, a Naaru trans-dimensional ship that crash-landed in Draenor centuries ago. Apparently knowing someone that long can be draining.
Reluun
Light willing, Tishad will be eaten by a dragoon within a few days.
Only then will I know peace.
Tishad
Ah, just like old times.
Reluun and I were roommates on the Genedar. We have been best friends ever since.
Let us hope this voyage is a bit shorter than that one though.
Ji-Min Quickpaw is excited about Dragonriding, and (important) her cat Dumpling can be petted.
Ji-Min Quickpaw
Oh, think of how jealous the cloud serpent riders will be when I come back to Pandaria with a real dragon friend!
Nethandril Duskthorn certainly isn't suspicious at all.
Nethandril Duskthorn
The Dragon Isles... An ancient land unknown to mere mortals, shrouded in grand secrecy.
So much forgotten knowledge and obscure power now prime for the taking...
Can you taste it already, <race>? I can.
Zuraan is struggling...
Zuraan
Oh by the Light-- How do they stand the constant rocking?
I will never board a vessel without auto-balancing calibrator arrays again.
Finally, Guldros Onyxbrand and Clinkora Rustface are, rather understandably, concerned about the water surrounding the ship.
Guldros Onyxbrand
Oh! By the flames, keep the water offa me!
Me dad got extinguished once. We had ta kindle him twice a day fer a month before he could walk straight again!
These dragons better be worth it!
Clinkora Rustface
This is terrible! I thought we were taking an airship!
I never bought the advanced anti-moisture circuitry upgrades! I'm done for!
Horde
The Horde Expedition to the Dragon Isles is transported by the zeppelin the Defiant Dragonscale. Members from all over the Horde can be found taking the journey to the Dragon Isles, each with their own reason and commentary.
Arandil Featherdawn is not with the Dragonscale Expedition, but his companion, Talanath Goldcrest, assures us his disregard for regulations is nothing to worry about.
Arandil Featherdawn
No, I am most certainly not with the Dragonscale Expedition. Their "regulations" would only slow my progress.
My itinerary is far more ambitious, and my accomplishments will outweigh the greatest among them tenfold.
Talanath Goldcrest
Please, do not mind Arandil. He can hardly find his way from Augur's Row to the Royal Exchange without a detailed map.
It is my intention to keep him from wading too deeply into trouble.
Vernell Bartlett does not believe in wasted opportunity.
Vernell Bartlett
Oh, this bucket? It's for collecting whatever is dripping from that pipe up there.
I can't resist a good viscous liquid.
Neither does Rinka.
Rinka
<Rinka pulls a sin'dorei quill out of one of the crates, gives it a quick nibble, and stuffs it into her pack.
You'd think a group called "the Relinquary" would be better at locking up their stuff.
Trauga Bloodhelm seems excited about the action ahead, while Mathog Hideflayer seems preoccupied with the leatherworking potential in the Dragon Isles.
Trauga Bloodhelm
Finally! I have been waiting for some real action!
I'm gonna arm wrestle every dragon I find!
Mathog Hideflayer
<Mathog ignores your presence, glaring angrily at the dracthyr onboard. He murmurs something about "horns" and "good leather.">
Si'va is less than enthusiastic about dragons.
Si'va
I'm not gettin' me hopes up as high as the rest of de travelers.
If de jungles of Stranglethorn have taught me one thin', it's not ta trust anythin' wit scales.
While Dahanu Highwing couldn't be more enthusiastic about them.
Dahanu Highwing
<Dahanu breathes heavily, tightly gripping the string of his dragon kite.>
This is the best day of my life.
Ketuna Skyflame can only imagine the sort of power that can be found in the Dragon isles, while Shin Summerhill knows what it's like to be the inhabitant of a land that was previously hidden from the outside world.
Ketuna Skyflame
The winds across Azeroth are not the same. They are shaped by the land... formed by the inhabitants.
Image the power of the winds in this place, having billowed beneath the wings of dragons.
Shin Summerhill
Traveling to an unveiled land is exciting, but living in that land when it is unveiled is terrifying.
If anyone in the Dragon Isles has those fears, it is my hope that I can provide the understanding and support that I was not always given.
Krakz Cloudgrease is mostly just amused by how much the Defiant Dragonscale pales in comparison to Gallywix's party barge.
Krakz Cloudgrease
Lemme tell you, nightborne do NOT know how to run a gig.
Believe me--I used to be the captain of Gallywix's back-up party barge. Where's the appetizers? The confetti? The mostly-legal pyrotechnics that meet minimal safety standards in most jurisdictions?
Amateurs, I swear.
While finally, poor Zalanti is straight-up not having a good time.
Zalanti
Oh, great Pa'ku... I know I have not done ya de proper respect in de past, but please preserve me now!
<Zalanti notices you and pauses, clearing his throat.>
I--I am afraid of heights. Do not judge me.
