Reviewing How jeweled Signet of Melandrus Works - Ring Increasing Ability Damage

In a review of the ring's mechanics done by SimulationCraft developer Kojiyama, they noticed that the supposedly auto-attack ring from Court of Stars,

, is currently increasing damage from abilities and effects that scale with weapon damage.
Basically the short version is that it behaves now as if base weapon damage is being modified, not just AA damage. This means any of the calculations that use weapon DPS for attack power (most class abilities) benefit from it the same way as if you got a stronger weapon. (In technical terms, the ratio since this BfA revamp to weapon attacks becoming AP% attacks was 6 attack power per weapon DPS)
This will benefit the specs more with faster attacks, since the bonus is converted to WDPS for that formula based on weapon speed. e.g. for Feral Druids it adds "75 DPS" since they attack every 1s. For 2.6s specs it adds 28.8 DPS to the calculations. Etc. But pretty much should be a gain for any spec that benefits from the WDPS->Attack Power conversion. (Primarily melee. Unclear at this point if it works for Ranged Hunters. They'd need to test but I don't know.)
You can see the scaling of the ring in the example log below, done with weapons with different speeds to show the increase based on weapon speed.
It is unclear when this change happened, but the ring previously didn't have this effect when Legion Mythic+ first came out earlier in Shadowlands. This change can be substantial to some specs, with quick attackers like Rogues and Feral Druids gaining about 3 to 4% DPS from the ring bonus effect alone, or an increase of ~800 DPS considering a baseline 20k DPS.
This change in behavior might be unintentional, as the ring goes out of the way to specify that it only increases auto-attack damage. While Legion timewalking likely won't make a return for Season 4, Court of Stars is one of the dungeons announced to likely be part of Dragonflight Season 1 Mythic+ rotation, meaning this ring would be obtainable then.
