There's a friendly gnoll to be found in the Azure Span, who has been winning the hearts and minds of players testing on the Dragonflight Alpha.
Mon-Arca Gnoll
is, as the name directly implies, the first monarch of the gnolls - although not everyone is accepting of the new ruler and that's where you come in!
Mon-Ark is a wise and benevolent ruler, with knowledge of ancient gnoll secrets.

have commented on the short but entertaining questline, beginning with
Por decreto real
. In short, a large faction of gnolls within the Azure Span have turned to rot and decay magic, which is ruining the land and corrupting their people. Over the course of the questline, players will assist with battling the rot infested Brackenhide tribe, rescuing other "friendly" gnolls from captivity, and establishing the authority of the Mon-Ark's paper crown.
Mon-Ark is a wise and benevolent ruler, with knowledge of ancient gnoll secrets.
While ultimately this is just an optional questline and may not have major implications on future storylines, it helps establish the idea of friendly gnolls, who have a little more depth than most of their vicious brethren. In some ways, the questline is also reminiscent of
Rei Mrgl-Mrgl
from Wrath of the Lich King (and later Highmountain and Nazjatar), though with a key difference in that Mon-Ark is
actually
a gnoll - proving that the otherwise near universally hostile race of menacing villains still has the capability to think beyond their stomachs and can even choose to do good. This little bit of nuance goes a long way to adding depth to the world of Warcraft and it will be a lot of fun to see whether Mon-Ark or any other friendly gnolls show up in the future.
