The reason moonkin is seeing large success is due to the synergy of Ravenous Frenzy with Convoke the Spirits and Wild Mushrooms. If you check logs Moonkin spikes super hard at the very beginning of encounters around the time that motes spawn. What your opener looks like to get these massive spikes is you convoke the moment you press Ravenous to get 16 stacks inside of the buff. Then you proceed to do your rotation as normal. Then once the ravenous buff is starting to fade you drop all 3 mushrooms. They have an ignite style effect on the motes and they absolutely melt the motes. The motes are buggy and they even carry over ignited damage to the point where you have stupid stuff like
this happening. Additionally all fights at this point are super short and Ravenous being balanced around being a 3 minute CD makes your damage incredibly front loaded.
The Frost Death Knight excels in the Dragonflight Pre-Patch largely due to its ability to do good cleave. This is especially import now due to the prevalence of the Motes Fated Affix, which presents great opportunity to deal large amounts of AoE damage.
Inverno Impiedoso,
Sopro de Sindragosa and procs of
Geada all work really well to efficiently damage these adds. One important aspect here is the fact that they all work when having the boss as your primary target. As the motes die incredibly quickly, any AoE that requires you to target them will be very inefficient.
In addition to this good Motes damage, the Frost Death Knight also has really high upkeep on
Sopro de Sindragosa. We have a ton of resource-generating spells in the new talent trees, combined with legendaries and covenants that provide even more resources. It's not uncommon to see Frost Death Knights with their
Sopro de Sindragosa up for 80%+ of the encounter!
Havoc Demon Hunter has had relatively good success coming into the Pre-Patch in all types of content. A solid mix of factors have caused this between actual class power that we have gained in the new talent system and borrowed power from Shadowlands that will not be returning.
In Raid settings we still are greatly benefiting from the permanent uptime of our Venthyr covenant ability
Marca Pecaminosa as well as near or surpassing permanent uptime on
Metamorfose. Both of these are caused by the same talents and legendary; a mixture of
Ciclo de ódio for
Raio Ocular cooldown reduction,
Destino Estilhaçado for extended Metamorphosis uptime, and
Bênção do Clarão Sombrio giving an absurd amount of extra Eyebeam casts resulting in both
Demoníaco uptime and Sinful Brand duration increases. Looking at Dragonflight, we lose Sinful Brand which is a significant portion of our damage on Single Target as well as losing Darkglare Boon which will cut our Metamorphosis uptime in this build by a significant amount, however even with the heavy losses of the Shadowlands systems for Havoc it still appears it will be in a good spot.
We also have niche use cases in raid for another build that is propped up by Shadowlands systems; partially due to Chaos Motes fated affix and on any AoE fight such as Prototype Pantheon or Anduin. This is via running a Throw Glaive build through talents such as
Arremessos Furiosos,
Lâmina Acelerada, and
Cicatrizar Alma. While this build will still see play in Dragonflight it currently has massive benefit on AoE due to
Bombardeio Vil giving significantly more DPS to the build in situations where you can get stacks consistently. While the loss of Sinful Brand, Darkglare, and Fel Bombardment will be heavy hits to Havoc Demon Hunter it has the most value in the bottom gate of its talent tree and should gain most of this damage back during the levelling process in Dragonflight.
