Darkmoon Despoiler: A Guide to Farming Darkmoon Artifacts

The Darkmoon Faire is back in town and it's time to start collecting tickets again for all those new vanity items. While there are mini-games and profession quests to help you along, the bulk of your monthly tickets will come from turning in special Darkmoon artifacts, so it's time to get farming! As it appears players are unable to farm low-level instances for artifacts now, we've listed all the possible bosses that drop them.
You will need
Guia do Aventureiro de Negraluna
in your inventory to be eligible to loot these artifacts. It can be obtained by talking to
Selina Severo
at the Faire or

outside the portal.
As a maximum of 145 tickets can be acquired per month, and 80 of these tickets come from item turn-ins, this is definitely something you want to farm if you're after mounts, pets, or look-alike heirloom gear.
You can continue to loot duplicate artifacts if you already have one in your inventory. However, you cannot turn in duplicate artifacts in the same month.
Artifacts drop from specific areas--certain types of bosses (humanoids, reptiles, casters, etc), raids, or from enemies in PvP.
Several PvP artifacts appear to be bugged and cannot be redeemed at the Faire this month. This should only be a temporary issue.
The artifacts are BoE and can be mailed to alts or sold on the AH. If you don't like farming bosses or losing rolls, checking the AH is your best bet.
While these artifacts can be looted year-round regardless of the Faire being in session, it appears there has been a recent stealth-change in time for the January 2012 Faire: you can only loot artifacts from bosses appropriate to your character's level. This means you can't have your level 85 character repeatedly kill a level 10 boss for items anymore.

This item only drops from select Heroic Cataclysm bosses (generally the end boss). However, the drop rate is much lower than the other Darkmoon items, and the item cannot be needed on. Vortex Pinnacle may be the most efficient dungeon to farm as two bosses have a chance at dropping the item. Confirmed bosses:

These three items can be looted from enemy bodies in battlegrounds. Stopping to loot every body won't help your team win a battleground, and your looting casts can be interrupted, so try to be smart when looting. There's a fairly high drop rate--several of the same item can drop per battleground.
Note: As of the January 2012 Faire,

are bugged. Players cannot turn them in if they have done so in December 2011. It's odd that these two items should be bugged, so a resolution should be pending soon.
