It's no secret that one of the harder bosses in Lower Karazhan is

. The boss himself is challenging enough, but the real difficulty of the fight comes from the addition of his Dinner Guests. While most people are aware that you can keep the guests crowd controlled using
Armadilha Fantasma
s and other regular CCs, what many don't know about is the Shadowlands engineering item,

.
What is
P3G4-4LM4
?
Soul Trap is an engineering item that you can make at level 50 Shadowlands Engineering. The item places a trap on the floor, that when stepped into will banish a mob for one minute, making them immune to everything, but also preventing them from doing anything. The trap does have a chance to backfire, however, but this chance is diminished the higher your Shadowlands Engineering skill.
How to Use Soul Trap and Example
Due to the way the immunity from Soul Trap works, no effects can be applied to the dinner guest while it's trapped, whether they are friendly or hostile. This means that when Moroes reaches 60% health remaining and casts
Expurgo Horrendo
, which applies a crowd control immunity to the guest, it will be immuned. This means that you can use regular crowd control on them again when the trap breaks, or even use another cast of
Armadilha Fantasma
on them. It also means they can be stunned if they find their way onto the boss, which is particularly helpful for some of the abilities.
Bonus: Druids'
Ciclone
works the same way, although you will have to time it a lot better to push Moroes during the 6 second window.
In this clip, we use Cyclone to make the guest immune to the application of Ghastly Purge, and then have our healer walk on a Soul Trap to bait his leap into it. We did it in this order because we had DoTs and other things on him, making regular CCs not ideal. Since he has no buff, he gets stuck in the Soul Trap and effectively removed from the remainder of the fight.
Conclusion
The main important part of this trick is that it removes a large amount of health from the boss fight, depending on how many guests you do this to. I recommend doing it to 1 or 2, preferably the guests that are more annoying than deadly, so if a mistake is made you don't have to panic or potentially wipe. Those would most likely be
Barão Rafe Dreuger
and
Lorde Robin Daris
, but it comes down to group preference. You can, however, do this to as many guests as you have Soul Traps for, so up to all 4 if you have enough Engineers in your group! Keep in mind that Moroes can step on the traps and consume them without suffering the debuff himself, so be wary of accidentally consuming them.
