Player Housing Neighborhoods in World of Warcraft

Uma casa para vocêWhat are Neighborhoods in World of Warcraft?social

Neighborhoods are persistent instances; your neighbor will always be your neighbor (unless one of you moves).

Your House is its own instance within your Neighborhood instance.

Neighborhoods are located in faction oriented Neighborhood Zones: Razorwind Shores for Horde and Founder’s Point for Alliance.

Neighborhoods are divided socially into Public, Guild, or Private Neighborhoods.

Each Neighborhood has 55 similarly sized Plots, each of which can hold one House.

Neighborhoods are home to a variety of NPCs who facilitate the workings of the Neighborhood. These include a Steward, a General Contractor, a Dye Crafter, a Lumberjack, various vendors, and Smugglers.

Neighborhoods have a rotating group activity system called Endeavors.

Neighborhoods are Sanctuaries, so no PvP.

Choosing a Neighborhood in World of Warcraft? The Faction Question

You must be a Horde Character to buy a house in a Horde Neighborhood.

You must be an Alliance Character to buy a house in an Alliance Neighborhood.

Any member of your Warband can visit and modify any house that you have bought, regardless of faction.

You can invite other players to visit your house, regardless of their or your faction.

Log on to a character of the faction that you have selected for your first Neighborhood

Accept the Housing breadcrumb quest and step through the Neighborhood portal in the portal room in Stormwind or Orgrimmar
or
Open your Housing Dashboard and click Start Tutorial - this will teleport you to a Neighborhood

Find the Plot you want and buy it

If you are a member of a guild and the Guild Master has created a Guild Neighborhood, you will go straight to your Guild Neighborhood. Note that your character's faction must match your Guild's faction in order to buy a Plot.

If you are a member of a community that has created a Private Neighborhood by charter, you will go straight to that Neighborhood. Again, your character's faction must match your Community's faction in order to buy a Plot.

If you are not a member of a guild or charter community, or are in a guild that has not set up a Neighborhood, you will go straight to a Public Neighborhood of the faction that matches your character's faction.

So, it's kind of something similar to the Garrison.

Comentário de marathal

I guess the big question is who has control over a private neighborhood, and what happens when you kick someone out

Comentário de Feaar

I'm curious if we'll get any insight into if guilds can pick the neighborhood or if they're just permanently stuck with whichever faction the guild is part of (I say this as an Alliance player not looking forward to the depressing mud and dirt you Hordies call home).

Comentário de Kajochi

I think they should just allow crafting stations, it is kind of apart of your characters identity after all. They threw out all principles of player convenience when they started selling AH/Mailbox/Transmog/Repair mounts anyway.

Also a neighborhood specific crafting order system would be kinda nice too for furniture and stuff.

I was really hoping to have a private house. I didn't want to be a part of a neighborhood... be it "public" OR "private". I just wanted MY HOUSE surrounded by trees and beautiful landscape. I hate that you have to be a part of a neighborhood... that reminds me of forced HOA crap. I just want my own house.. no neighborhood.... I was so hyped for this to finally come to the game only to find out you are FORCED to have friends or at the very least be grouped with strangers... I don't have friends.. and I don't like people for the most part. I've been a solo player pretty much since vanilla. It's all I know. I've never been a very social person. I'm a hermit in real life and basically in game as well! I really wish Blizzard wouldn't force this neighborhood crap on us. Ahh well.. I guess there's always my Garrison.

As amazing as this all is, (and honestly Im loving all of it) I'm seeing that this is a wonderful opportunity to update the architecture of Horde and Alliance dwellings and buildings. I think both factions would love to see some better houses than what is looking like copy pasta from all the other previous content. Big red ugly spikey buildings for horde, and the typical European medieval architectures for the Alliance...

This is a massive new feature being added to the game, and it would be great to see some better options all around. While I understand the aesthetic of the choices...I feel like the age of the game is really still showing through these screenshots. I hope these buildings are not the final draft.

I'd like to know what the 'minimum group size' requirement for Guild Neighborhoods is based on.

Active members? Total members? Unique ACCOUNTS (instead of members)?

I've *really* been looking forward to finally making that Guild Compound for an active RP guild...but said guild doesn't have all that many PEOPLE in it, just a lot of CHARACTERS. Some insight into what determines whether or not a group can make a private neighborhood would be incredibly helpful.

...or at least an idea of what number constitutes "minimum size" so I know whether or not to give up on my hopes and dreams now. <.<

"Private Neighborhoods" Just what we needed, an HOA for housing in the game :/

Comentário de Mistmay

Does anyone know - for a guild that has less than 50 unique members can they create more layers?

Trying to figure out whats fair for our members with pre-orders meaning some players get in early. Can we make more layers so theres 2 copies of desired plot etc.

Not sure if we can do as many as we want, or if it only triggers once 50 slots are full. Or if its basedo n characters in guild, or unique members etc.

Comentário de Mentha

I couldn't figure out where on the maps the central hubs are. I understand that when the endeavors occur, that's where they happen, so it would be nice to know where those are so I don't end up with a plot too far away from it.

Comentário de Maricha

It says 50 plots awailable
- but I count 55 on the map

- what are the last 5 plots?

Comentário de ingerb

What do we do when we got more than 50 guildmembers
or more than 50 people that want to join our neigborhood?
I heard somewhere we could "buy" 54 plots extra" but i cant find that information
AND how does it work will those exra 54 plots belong to same town?
Where will those plots end up?

also if we would like to add 2 Guilds on the same neigborhood, Can we do that?

Anyone have info or know this?:)

thanks

so here is my question, I want to be in my guild neighborhood but also be in a public neighborhood.. is that possible..

or can we only be in one or the other .. because I have a excellent guild and want to be part of that community.

Comentário de Magintee

Upon looking at the new neighbourhood system i really hope they consider in future utilising the centre building in the town centre as a "inn" as its currently just a closed building at the moment or hopefully for guilds perhaps a "guild hall" or "guild inn" that can be customised in some way and be used instead of a filler building.

Good idea would be to enable us to use previous inns with updated quality from around the open world I.E Goldshire inn or the inn at Valiance keep Northrend where it has an open balcony etc or Redridge Inn which would feel more of a social aera of the neighbourhood town.

Comentário de MikeMJG

What we need is to have a portal to our garrisons in the neighborhood. That would be epic!

Then we can go back and forth between both areas. Garrisons are still fun at 80 and there are a lot of things to earn from the special holiday events and the invasions and bosses.

I hope these neighborhoods have fun npc stuff too and not just one random event a month and only other players. Should be world quests in neighborhood and room to have events

Comentário de Poisonenvy

This needs to be updated.

For a start, it keeps mentioning 50 plots, when there are 55 (plot numbers 0 to 54).

Also in relation to guild neighbourhoods:

"Similarly to guilds, Private Neighborhoods include a permission system allowing select members to control the Neighborhood Settings. This system allows the group's leadership to manage all aspects of the neighborhood, including membership, Endeavors, and more."

I don't know if the private/charter neighbourhoods get more functionality than guilds, but so far, with only two weeks before this goes live, guilds have virtually no control over the neighbourhoods. They can create and name them, and they can decide (when there's a choice) on the endeavour, but nothing else. The only way to control membership of the neighbourhood is to accept or remove someone from the guild. There are no other controls. So if someone is inactive but has a prime plot, there is no way of keeping them in the guild, but making that plot available for active members.

"Beyond how the groups are formed and managed, there is one important difference between Guild Neighborhoods and Charter Neighborhoods: Charter Neighborhoods are limited to the same size as Public Neighborhoods, 50 plots per neighborhood. Guilds are often larger than just 50 members, so Guild Neighborhoods will have access to additional attached instances so that every guild member can have a house in the Guild Neighborhood, regardless of the Guild’s size."

Again .. this is 55 plots, not 50. And it is worth noting that, again, so far, there is no guild control over additional attached instances and whether/when they "spin up", despite what Blizzard told us in their interview about housing. It's also worth noting that in testing, if your guild had more than one layer/instance, there is absolutely no interaction between the two. Those on one layer cannot see those on the other layer. Not even in the vendor/NPC/Hub areas.

So, I am having a hard time understanding, do we need to be Alliance toon Guild Master for the guild to have an Alliance neighbourhood? (The GM is a Horde player)

Comentário de ChaosMonkey

So overall, housing is better than I expected to be. However, there are some key missing features and some issues in my opinion.
1. We need to be able to clone/duplicate items. It takes a lot of time trying to get multiple pieces in the same location and configuration.
2. It would be great if we could type numbers in in advanced mode for the size, rotation angle, and coordinates of decor pieces.
3. We need to be able to save room loadouts in some shape or form. As our house budget will slowly increase due to another stupid renown track, if we have a vision in mind, then we might as well just wait until max renown to start doing it because having to constantly redo rooms will be annoying. You really like a room, but want to add a hallway before it? Better redo the entire room from scratch.
4. Guild leaders need way more power over their neighborhoods. There is no way to set controls based on rank.
5. There are way too many decor vendors spread out around all WoW continents. This would not be a big issue if we just needed to purchase an item once and could then use unlimited copies, but having to fly back and forth all over the place to buy more copies is very demotivating.
6. For private neighborhoods: there needs to be a central neighborhood area where the neighborhood leader can assign building permissions to the house (maybe just on a per room basis) and it can be designed communally. A sort of town hall/pub type of building. The housing neighborhoods are huge with not that many plots, so it feels pretty annoying to go around and visit other peoples homes. Having some plots for hermits is fine, but given that this is an MMORPG, I think we should have the average plot density be ~3-5 times higher.
7. The Alliance zone in general needs some love. It feels extremely samey and the only area that really has a different feel there, feels pretty close to a Horde zone to me. I was expecting a lot of Ardenweald and Draenei vibes, but nearly the entire zone just feels like it was designed for Humans and Forsaken/witches.

Comentário de Nell86

if me and my friends group up can we somehow get put into the same public neighborhood? we want to be in the same area but don't know if we want to do the private one.

Comentário de Haidahl

Maybe some new professions? Furniture Maker, Interior Design Specialist, Horticulturist, etc.

Comentário de Plufproop

It would be awesome to have separate houses available for each and every one of our characters, rather than one for our Alliance alts and another for our Hordies.

Not sure my Tauren paladin and Troll warlock would necessarily want to live in the same house, nor my Gnome mage with my Worgen rogue!

It will be interesting to see how this develops. Not actually jumped in and tried it yet...

Comentário de Plufproop

Let's have a central tavern to meet our neighbours and drink beer, and some live bands can play there, like the Tauren Chieftains, and bards - when we get them. ;-)

Comentário de mpcomp

What will happen if almost all players in neighbourhood are not active for long time? I’ll need to switch to different neighbourhood to be with active players or game will somehow move active players together?
Because I’m sure that after some time many neighbourhoods will become “ghost neighbourhoods”

Comentário de DWSto

OK...So I'm new to this and somewhat dumb, but when I go to the housing, I end up in a neighborhood that's full. The House finder shows me a neighborhood with plots available, but how do I get to that neighborhood?

Comentário de Undertaker807

I don't know if this is "working as intended", but my wife and I discovered that we can only enter each other's houses if the toon that "owns" the house per the permissions page is online. If I'm not on my main, she can't enter my house, even though I have full access permissions on and she's all 3 categories (friend, grouped, and guildie). Anyone else notice this, have this issue, or does this sound out of whack to you? Thank you.

Comentário de panamadevil8522

So, what about those of us who have guilds that are just our alts and no one else? It looks like we cannot buy a Guild Neighborhood because there has to be at least 10 active accounts... :( I was hoping to do this so I could create a few more houses for my alts. Sad me.

Comentário de Dairien

I'm assuming, like every other aspect of the game, neighborhoods will die out and you'll be alone in yours unless you're in a very active guild? Its 1/21/26 (21/1/26 across the pond) and no one else has ever been online in my neighborhood.

Comentário de il0vewowhead

There needs to be some sort of way to search for neighborhoods that have your particular plot available. Also, they need to develop some sort of public "Active Neighborhood" designation of which you can only move to if your Neighborhood Favor score (discussed above) is a certain level. This would at least let the people that are actively taking part in housing to group together. The way it is now, I feel like I live in a deserted town.

Comentário de Dairien

The one place that Blizzards stupid phasing would have made sense...neighborhoods...and they didn't do it. I've yet to see a single person online in my neighborhood and its day 3.
