Btw, frost isn't the best for raiding, so save that 1,000 gold and dual spec. The "typical" builds you were looking at are raid specs. You really can't go wrong with an all frost builds for anything but raiding.

(...)Especially if you are running dungeons where the tank holds aggro. Your AoE DPS will go through the roof.
Plus, (...)
mobs will get frozen and then gank melee. You will be able to do more damage with them dead.
In addition, the more the healer is busy ressing, the more time you get to drink.

so you mean that it's better having a "raid build" (frost/arcane, frost/fire, fire/arcane), and another build for "soloing" (full frost, for example?), or those raid builds work properly on questing solo?
Depends on your gear and situation. Once you acquire fairly decent stuff, then yes, you can solo well in the raid builds, or pretty much anything you can come up with. When leveling, or just hitting 80, it's a bit tougher. For my situation, I have a raid build (Arcane) and a pvp build (Frost) that I actually solo with, as it makes me less squishy when I am by myself.
I also like to constantly tinker, so I change builds at least 2-3 times a week, just so I can test certain talents or builds. It isn't required to have dual specs, but it sure is fun.

I'm a lvl69 frost mage, and this is the spec I currently have (i'm filling arcane talents now):
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#of0VMhMcZZAI0IobuhfdMbsx
After a lot of reading in this forums, I have a few questions:
- when aoe (blizzard), i'm thinking that improved blizzard would help a lot, so I'm thinking about deleting the 3 points I currently have in winter's chill and using in improved blizzard. what do you think?
- just curious: what do you think about that build (i like pvp, but i'm mainly focused on pve)?
- I know frost is not the best spec for raiding. Actually, I love being frost, but I'm aware i'll need to switch frostfire/arcane when I hit 80 in order to dps.
thanks for your help a lot.
It is also hndy for some Naxx fights, like Gluth, where the zombies all head to himn after a decimate. Improved Blizzard helps slow down their advance, giving the group more time to AoE them down. Sadly, our guild mages have selected Arcane, and don't have any points in IB. Once I get mine specced FFB, I plan on at least 1 point in it.
