I'm assuming you saw the
article
on WoW.com and decided to start a thread over here? Meh, I'll respond to some of your suggestions anyways.
Yes, it could easily be done. Blizzard has already shown they have the tools to do it with the Argent Tournament, and it would be interesting to see what other kinds of trees they came up with instead of the only one we saw during one quest.
I kind of doubt that wood workers would get to make polearms due to the fact that blacksmithing has already claimed that weapon type (

), but they could definitely make staves, crossbows, and bows. Arrows, not likely, considering the fact that Blizzard is likely to get rid of consumable ammo with or before the next expansion. Boats or zeppelins, also not likely, due to the fact that they are already in-game and would be difficult to expand upon.
As far as making actually houses and guildhalls, I would be very surprised if Blizzard let us actually craft the outside of them because if housing
is
implemented, it would almost certainly be instanced for each person. Furniture, sure. Furniture makers would have a great market for people who wanted to put beds, chairs, bookshelves, etc. in their house, and if Blizzard
is
implementing woodworking in th next expansion, I'm sure they have many more and much better ideas than anyone's come up with so far. :)

I guarantee that if Blizzard makes a woodcutting profession, I will take it. I will go around the mighty forests of Elwynn and Ashenvale, cutting down all manner of ancient trees, and I will sing the
Lumberjack Song
the
entire time
.

I could see them using an axe in place of a
Mining Pick
or
Skinning Knife
.

Not entirely related, but I think instanced guild halls could really cut down on lag in major cities. I'd say they would be accessible through any major city and would have portals to all of them.
Also, they would have (or could be upgraded to have) banks, vendors, and AH's inside them. Possibly class trainers, training dummies...
Less lag, PLUS random nubs can't come open trade with you unannounced.
City of Heroes/ Villains has this - Supergroup Bases. Has worked well enough for years. We'll see it one day I'm sure.
