are you suggesting people use a spec you suggest? if so then you shouldn't.
suggested specs go through an awful lot of testing and peer review before they should ever be listed as a spec that is worth looking at.

if you're not suggesting people try it then, again, what is it you intend to achieve here? i could post lots of specs that people should never use. there is no point in doing so however.

before making a thread in future please ask yourself why you're posting, what are you trying to achieve by posting and why would others find it interesting.

A: Of course the stickies don't contain the answer to every possible question and query. If you've read through this thread and the stickies then it's time to ask the forum for more help. There are an awful lot of very experienced and intelligent players on this board that will happily help you with your problem.

to help us help you here are some tips for posting your question:

Be specific - Vague questions will never get concise answers
Give as much supporting information as possible - If you're asking about a build, then link it. If you're asking about your gear, link your armoury. World of Logs/WowWebStats/WowMeter links are VERY useful.
Use the best English you can - Of course, English isn't the first language of everyone on the board but to be able to help you we need to understand you. 'Leet' and IM language will generally get a bad reaction.
Keep it short - Walls of text will only receive the response "TL;DR". If you want to post a longer explanation always give a brief list of points first so that people can help you without reading your life story.
Do NOT make "rate my build" threads - if you didn't see your build in the stickies it's not because nobody thought of it. It's because, for one reason or another, it's a poor build.
For PvE, if you think that your build is great and can't see why no one uses it then download simulationcraft (Acabar made a guide on how to use it) and run simulations of your build and the closest cookie-cutter. If your build comes within 10% of the current top builds then make your post about it very thorough and include your simcraft action list and results.

since we have no moderation powers we're clearly in no way wowhead police. all we have is our opinions which we're as free to express as codyb and even you.

my opinion is that this is a pointless thread in an otherwise informative and interesting forum.
i also worry that people might skim over a thread like this and think "hey this guy uses this spec so it must be good, i'll give it a go" or worse "wowhead never gives bad advice so if this spec is linked right there then it must be a good one".

further to that point, if you spent any time reading a forum like this where other posters don't actively encourage good content and discourage bad content (thottbot anyone?) then you might understand how important it is that posters get involved in the type of threads that are made.

you don't have to care about the content represented on this forum but it's not a bad thing that some people do.

I do care about the content presented on wowhead, and it is truly a great website. But discouraging what you consider "bad" content does not add to overall quality as straightforwardly as you believe. The OP writes that it seems like fun spec for him and in no way implies that it is a great or tested one. If the people that read this don't realize that and just skim over thinking it's probably a great spec, then the fault is obviously their own. I apologize however if what I wrote seemed slightly rude.

it's not something the OP actually tried so we don't know if it does provide more "fun" than common specs and in PvP it's difficult to find the fun in any spec that doesn't provide the opportunity to actually win at some point.
furthermore "fun" is such an objective idea - if someone found losing as quickly as possible fun would that mean there was merit in a 0/0/0 pvp spec?

as i said, i could post a hundred specs that people probably shouldn't use and i could probably find some better reasons than improved corruption and meta why they might be fun. if i posted all one hundred of them over the next 2 hours i don't think i would be well received.

personally i'm just trying to encourage people to make these thread when they have something of particular interest that they want to discuss. i want people to look at common (cookie cutter if you like) specs and look at their own and consider what they're gaining and what they losing. for PvE specs i want them to do some testing in game or via simcraft and for PvP i want them to try the spec out and see how it fairs against different classes or teams.

more correctly in fact, i want them to want to do those things themselves. to prove a concpet for themselves before sharing it.

a thread like this one has absolutely zero thought or consideration. the OP clearly spent 5 minutes with a talent calculator and, since mummy tells him he's a special snowflake, he thought the world deserved to see his wonderful creation. well that's fine but a poster like that would be incredibly naive to expect praise for those actions.

Asakawa, you want purpose. The aim and purpose of the thread could be to indicate that there must not always be a strict point and purpose to a thread on wowhead. Wowhead is (to my understanding) aimed at the general public, and the class forums here ought to be the right place to be able to freely cast out a spur of the moment idea just to see what people think about it. Without being refuted on the grounds of pointlessness. And definitely without having first to go through rigorous testing or simcrafting. What happened to playfulness, and to what I imagine wow used to be once upon a time?

Sure, it was not a good post. I agree. OP did not really do any reasoning about the spec or even ask an outright question. But that doesn't mean it's pointless.

The worst part is there is always some 3rd party who gets hurt when you tell the OP that they have no clue. "Do you really need to be so harsh?" As a matter of fact I don't, but this is the 20th one of these and I stopped being nice after the 5th.

It's not a matter of getting hurt at all. I wouldn't at all mind you telling the OP he has no clue and show him why. I only mind when people question the right to exist of this kind of offbeat posts and constantly demand a purpose behind everything. It's a game, treat it like one. Experiment, have some fun, post some nonsense also, for good lord's sake.

I'm sure everyone is else is like me and nice in everything else (we are volunteering our time to help others) except rate my build posts and possibly on the roads when stuck behind slow drivers.lol
i've always been very clear that i'm most interested in good info getting to people who want it and bad info being clearly refuted. in the past i've been less interested in how people feel about that exchange of good and bad info than recently but that's always been my main motivation for being involved in this forum. i don't mind a couple of people reacting like TheVerago. that's just the way it goes i suppose.

the internet doesn't have a first amendment and i'm not typing this from the same country you're reading it in so how much whatever rights you might claim actually pertain to me is, at best, grey area.
you'll find the rights and rules that actually do apply here.
