im a fresh 80 mage and my entire rotation from 1-80 was Frostbolt, Frostbolt, Frostbolt lol...so now i need to know if there is a solid build for Heroic Dungeons...i know this will prob be either Arcane or Fire since Frost is mostly for pvp..
EDIT: was told by a friend that there is a good Arcane/Frost spec i think its 57/3/11...i know its 57 arcane, 11 frost, 3 fire

That would be
this
.
For a rotation, use Arcane Blast 4 times then Arcane Barrage - unless Missile Barrage procs, in which case use Arcane missiles.

For heroics however, you can just stay frost since it's mostly about AoE trash packs. Your rotation is still Frostbolt spam for single target and Blizzard spam for AoE. On bosses you can use Deep Freeze on Fingers of Frost procs.
Once you got some decent gear and want to prepare for raiding, you'll want to change to arcane though. Even with the announced frost buffs, arcane is still miles ahead.

To some extent it doesn't matter what you do in the beginning, your gear is going to handicap your damage output. There is a place for both frost and arcane specs in heroics. For most heroics I have found that a hybrid build based on pure Arcane Blast spamming for bosses and Blizzard/Flamestrike for trash (and sometimes bosses with adds) works well. I do not clear AB stacks and don't really worry about burning up all my mana on the boss fights.
However this build only works well for quick fights, so if I find myself in the Heroic Forge of Souls with a mediocre tank that has a hard time holding aggro and others with weak dps, I'll switch to my frost build. The frost build is much less dps, but it is solid and has a higher survivability (I was able to get away from the Devourer of Souls once when everyone else wiped). The frost build is often best when you are at the top of Recount on every fight by a wide margin. If you have a tank that is not attentive, lazy, or spec for dps, it means that you are going to pull aggro often. It's best to switch to a survivable build in this situatuation. As arcane, if you pull aggro, you can die in two or three hits and even Jesus would have a hard time healing you in time.

In all heroics I ran as frost I've only had one complaint about my spec, and that was quickly withdrawn after the first trash pull. And coming from a tank that had to be replaced because he couldn't tank FoS...
As frost you'll do very high damage on AoE packs and slow them down by 70%. On bosses your DPS will still be quite reasonable and on pulls-gone-bad you're likely the last DPS-er standing. A spec I like to use for heroics is
(18/0/53)
.
No brain freeze (that's only a DPS increase once you get
2-piece tier 10
or when
patch 3.3.3
allows it to proc Frostfire Balls) and maximum slows to keep the bad guys from reaching you or the 5.8k GS nuker standing next to you.
I skip
Glyph of Frostbolt
because I hate loosing its slow in random heroics, but if you want to max your DPS you'll have to replace Glyph of Ice Barrier with that one.
