there's a couple of things to discount right away:
don't alter your rotation for pyro.
conflag's damage isn't actually related to the
current
immo on the target. (ie. if you cast immo under a damage proc which then runs out before you cast conflag you don't get a boost to conflag from the proc)
so what are we really talking about?
a 10% damage proc which occurs from immo ticks.
there is only one of the 5 ticks of immo that could proc the buff (the first one) that will not naturally lead to immo being recast with the buff anyway. so of the procs that do occur we're talking about only 1 in 5 of those.
immo has higher DPET than your other spells but you're still constantly casting throughout the buff so there is still benefit being gained.
any gain is off-set by the loss of ticks.
essentially, my best guess would be that it could be an overall (though incredibly slight) dps gain to clip immo on that 1in5 occasion if you clip directly after the second to last tick.
i do not think it would be anything like the kind of gain you'd want it to be to start having to complicate the rotation to that degree.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that it's never a gain to clip any dot, ever.
And in this case it doesn't seem like it, but need some theorycrafting to confirm

you've basically got it but since a tick of immo is greater than 10% of a full immo (nuke+dot) it really is not worth doing what you're suggesting.
it's a nice buff that should not effect the spells you cast and when.

20/20 hindsight, but wouldn't it have been better to do the tests before creating the post?
But if he had done the tests first then he wouldnt have posted, and there might be others out there who were wondering.

i think it was a fair question to ask. testing and theorycraft have slightly different uses. if he'd gone and tested it and found it to lower his dps then there would still be the question of would it be worth it after some work perfecting the new rotation. if theorycraft showed it to provide a big increase then it would be something worth working at (like affliction rolling buffs on corruption).
but, yes, if it was going to end up in some testing either way it might have been nice to have done that up-front.
