Well, I personally wish they made a movie on one of the following:
The Last Guardian (or the Second War in general).
The Third War (from the PoV of either Thrall, Arthas, or Jaina and eventually expanding to other PoVs).
Story focused on Arthas and his ascension to being the Lich King and then to his defeat (?)
Story focused on Illidan up to his defeat in Outlands (?)
War of the Ancients.
A movie based on a game isn't going to be much different.
Heck, there's been precedence regarding that. Have you SEEN the Super Mario movie or Final Fantasy movies? (They are pretty bad)

Video Game Film adaptations have a fairly poor track record. Seeing as the Resident Evil films, Tomb Raider films, and the Prince of Persia film are considered the finest of Video Game Film adaptations is a sad note.
The movie is set one year before World of Warcraft
Sigh... While I'm uneasy of Robert Rodat and Legendary Pictures there are redeeming factors to this adaptation. Such as Chris Metzen, Sam Raimi, Charles Roven, a $200+ million budget.
I hope so. I have my fingers crossed.
And since it's 1 year before WoW....That means Third War is possible! =)

Original information we knew about the film:
1. Thrall will be in it some capacity.
2. Takes place in the four years between Third War/Frozen Throne and WoW.
3. Is a War movie.
4. Varian like clone.

The Doom movie is actually VERY good, but the fandom hates it.

Still can't believe people think the 'best' video game movie is Tomb Raider......
Honestly, Resident Evil 1 and 2, and the first Mortal Kombat movie are three of the better ones.

OMG!
That scene where she runs down the building?
That must have saved the ENTIRE movie for me! And then she pulls a Claire and runs from the helicopter shots.

most vid game movies suck because most of them were directed by uwe boll :)
the RE series and the PoP film are worth a wacth imo
legendary pictures has a mixed resume
they have made very good/good films like hangover series, inception, watchmen, sucker punch
but some really bad/bad ones like 300,jonah hex, ninja assasin, clash of the titans
sam raimi's highlights are 3 shallow tv series xena, spartacus and legend of the seeker
and made bad movies like armored, priest
i don't expect much from the movie
lets just hope for the best =)

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is a good movie based on a video game...Um, Advent Children is a sequel to FF7, as part of the FF7 Universe project, not a movie that is based on the original game.

And? It is still a movie based upon a game. It qualifies.

Difference is though, it's a completely new movie that keeps the story going, created by Squareenix itself, instead of by a major motion video game company; there is also Last Order out there, which is another half hour animated feature that happens before the start of the movie and during/after Crisis Core.

The movie was garbage.
Personal opinion of course; the Complete Version is a visual masterpiece.

I had the.. something.. of viewing the Halo movie a few months ago. To this day, all I can think about it is.. "what?"
Can we rely on this to be any different?
Can we expect scenes of crazy awesome violence, like in a good 25 man raid (like most WoW users seem to enjoy), and not the talk talk talk, smack, talk talk talk, special god mode, talk talk, glory shot, talk talk that my gut is telling me to expect?
*edits made to fix fragmented thoughts*
