I prithee not think ill of my making light of the situation, but we shant be seeing Apprentice Argoly around any longer. Archmage Ataeric has been rushing his students through training and sending me thick-skulled nincompoops who can scarcely conjure their own drink! If I'm to expect these buffoons to do the work of skilled magi, then woe that this boy couldn't handle a simple errand.

The grasses in Alterac are hearty and impart a strong, earthy flavor to hot tea. I sent the boy foraging around the outskirts of the floating city to find fresh grass. It slipped my mind that he never came back, as I was busied with correcting yet another bumbling apprentice who'd set fire to a 200-year-old tapestry.

It struck me that Argoly had grinned like a fool when I presented him with the task, but I shooed him away to his work. I finally had my answer this morning when I sent my attendant down to the surface to retrieve an important memo I'd lost to the breeze while gazing over the frozen wastes below us. She returned hurriedly to inform me that Argoly's remains were found in a broken slump on the tundra.

I'd no doubt of the boy's hand in his own demise when I found a folded pouch of Felweed tucked into his robes. It would seem that Argoly took my invitation to "go get some grass" quite literally, and busied himself with chewing it before setting to work on my task. The rest, I trust, you can gather on your own.

I find this interesting, because the Archmage refers to the "floating city" while also refering to Alterac. While under the arcane shield (purple bubble) in Alterac, the city was not floating yet. Also, Felweed grows in Outland, so it wouldn't be present in Alterac.

The story is amusing, but the least they could do is get their facts straight!

It can be explained pretty simple IF Archmage Ansirem Runeweaver went with Dalaran to Northrend wich is unlickely becose he not present there(Example of such "present" is Hemet Nesingwary in Nagrand and Scholozar Basin).

Esteemed Archmage mentioned the grasses in Alterac, that they are good for tea.
Asking Apprentice Argoly to get some grass meant to be get the grass for tea. Seem he didn't meant Alterac ones.

Well, Argoly did chewed felweeds and becose of it he fell off Dalaran. Crystalsong Forest can be counted as "tundra" imho.

I assumed he was busy and not thinking properly about what he was doing.
As he does make a reference to Alterac, remember that Dalaran was in Alterac for a LONG period of time, I don't think it outside of the realm of the imaginable for some denizens of the city to cling to old habits, and forget they are floating several hundred feet in the air.

My interpratation is, Archmage Ansirem Runeweaver forgot Dalaran was floating above Crystalsong, too preocupied with the telling off of the other apprentice and the thought of tea brewed from the grass of Alterac.
(This is understandable, with the studying involved with being an Archmage he would most likely spend a great deal of time indoors).
And Argoly, being the dumbass that he is, decided to chew some Felweed before setting off outside to pick some grass... plummeting to his death.
