One of the requirements for Broken Isles Safari and found in the Haglands of Highmountain. These share spawn points with Hog-Nosed Bat (critter). It took me a while to find a non-critter version and they, so far as I can tell, don't spawn as secondaries.

Got mine at 7AM server time, did not see any in the day time so it could be a night time spawn. There did not seems to be many up at once and the respawn appear to be quite slow.

I've been having really problems finding this one.. ive been in the cave where wowhead shows spawns and all I see is are the other bats. And non-battlepet versions of that one.. But not a single Hog-Nosed ones for about 2 hours now..

Ive been trying realm hopping and I do get switched to other servers Hog-Nosed nowhere to be found. And Ive done some laps around the outside area on the mountain too where the other comments referred to. :(

Save yourself frustration and get Realm Hop addon, I spent half an hour killing critter versions of this pet to force spawn battle version, running all over the place dodging and killing harpies.
Then realm hopped and found one common quality on second hop I made without even leaving spot I was in.
I was fool not to try it sooner.

Unable to find any non-critter version of these. Maybe they spawn at a different time?

The way I found to obtain this pet is DO NOT kill the non-combat versions. Instead kill every combat pet that is not a Hog-Nosed Bat. the non-combat Hog-Nosed will become combat versions, I only realized this after I killed a Chipmunk and directly to the left of the one I killed another Chipmunk obtained a combat paw.

Utilizing this I got multiple Hog-Nose to become combat versions.

The Haglands are located north of Skyhorn just before you reach the entrance to Rockcrawler Chasm for those who do not have coordinate addons =P

Hog-Nosed Bat are NOT located inside the cave; they are located in The Haglands ABOVE the cave. The path up the mountain is located just to the west of the northern cave entrance at (44.7, 33.6) or just to the northeast of the southern cave entrance at 51.9, 34.1. Be very careful; at one point the northern path gets very narrow, and if mounted you may go right off the cliff to your death. Once on top of the mountain there are very few spawns; try the following:

Just kill all critters in sight; especially the other battle pets.
Don't kill the critter versions of the Hog-Nosed Bat. As you kill other battle pets in the area they can become battle pets
try server hopping

Side note: 2 addons that can assist with hopping are Server Hop or Cross Realm Assist.

Have they decided to stop including maps for these kinds of npcs? This is the third battle pet I'm looking for that doesn't show a map. I find that odd.

Eventually got this but had to kill non-battle hog nosed to get a spawn.

Went to 49,36 by Lesam Skyhorn and killed the lev 1 hogs. Then run west upto High Crawliac and kill those.
Wait, repeat etc. Eventually 2 spawned instead of the level 1's.

Path starts at 52,34.

Bring a Terrible Turnip or similar pet. This is one of those annoying pets that can spam a self-healing move, which can bring it back out of capture range.

captured a gray at 53.22,35.54 just past Lasan Skyhorn(quest giver) no killing any other critters, just ran around a few minutes questing and he spawned.

I was flying around for a bit seeing if one would just spawn, no luck. Then I read that killing the other combat pets in the area helps them spawn faster so I killed all the ones I could find in the haglands and boom, 2 show up! So I would highly recommend killing any other combat pets in the area, save yourself some time!

I took the advice of the poster below me who recommended killing battle pets and critters that weren't the Hog-Nosed Bat. Within three minutes of killing all of them in the Haglands, a Hog-Nosed Bat spawned by Lasan.

To my own dismay, I accidentally killed it instead of crating it. I did another loop of killing critters and pets and waiting, and one of the Hog-Nosed Bat critters turned in to a battle pet.

Be patient! This only took me a total of ~8 minutes between flying, killing, and waiting.

I guess that everyone has different experiences here. So here is my 2 cents. I was making the rotation in the haglands as mentioned in all these other posts. I started trying the illogical strategy of killing all the battle pets that were not hog-nosed bats and leaving up the hog-nosed bats that were critters, hoping that these posts were right and that they would miraculously change. I gotta say that out of the 10 that I saw on my rounds, 2 of them did switch to battle pets, that was within about an hours time, and it DID NOT happen in front of my face, i believe more likely, someone else on the mountain kill them while fighting hags. Then I started doing the exact opposite, which in my head, made more sense. I started killing every hog-nosed bat that I saw that was not a battle pet, within an hour I had a rare version of the P/P and H/S. I saw 10x more spawn this way than the way that seemed illogical.
