New Pandaria Elemental in 5.1, taught by Pandaren Air Spirit.

He is similar to the Whispering Pandaren Spirit you battle in the quest Pandaren Spirit Tamer. At level one he has 155 HP, 11 Power, and 11 Speed.

You may be interested in killing this trainer with 2 pets so that you can level a third. This can be easily done with the following comp.

Start with your low level pet. Pull until he begins with the Moth (Flyer). His opening turn will be the hard-hitting ability with a high miss chance but a chance to put your pet to sleep.

Do one attack with your low pet and swap in Chrominius (even if your low level pet was pet was put to sleep; by hitting the end of the turn, he'll get experience even if he didn't get to attack). On the first turn, the enemy will hit you with Cocoon Strike, meaning you won't be able to hit it with your first attack. Use your first turn to Howl; the debuff will apply even though he's cocooned. Bite him twice and he should die. There's a small chance he'll put you to sleep before you can do the second Bite; if he does, you should still be able to win, just keep at it.

The enemy will bring the Dragon out. Unfortunately, Flying pets are very random in terms of their damage output, so there are a few possibilities as to what will happen next. Any of them should result in a win, it's just a matter as to how easy it is. Note that the enemy will spend the first turn putting out a dot, so you will always have time to do at least one attack.
1) If Chrominius is so low that it seems he's going to die from the enemy's first direct attack, Surge of Power immediately. It will gain the +50% damage buff dragon's get from bringing the moth low and knock off a good 1k of the enemy dragon's health.
2) If Chrominius has a ton of health, your goal should be to do Bites until you can get a Roar up, and then Surge of Power. One Bite + one double damage Surge of Power should instantly kill the dragon.
3) When in doubt as to whether or not you'll live longer, err on the side of caution of using a Surge of Power rather than not.

When Chrominius dies, almost any Dragon should be able to finish off the fight. All attacks from all enemy pets are Flying, so the Dragon will take reduced damage. If you did Chrominius correctly, the enemy's Dragon will be one, at worst two hits away from death; just use your best judgement to kill it then the final Elemental. The final Elemental heals, but since you're a Dragon the damage output will be low and you should be able to win easily. There are no easily-obtainable Dragon pets with Aquatic attacks, and thus, it doesn't matter what you use all that much to counter the Elemental (note you could use an Aquatic pet, but I've found the damage output from the enemy tends to kill non-Dragon pets too quickly to line up a hard-hitting combo).

My personal choice for this pet is a Dark Whelpling or a Soul of the Aspects . They're the only Dragons with a good, hard-hitting Humanoid ability. Since Dragons are weak to Humanoid attacks, this ensures that if Chrominius had bad luck, your new Dragon will still be able to come out and one-shot the enemy's Dragon with their hard-hitting Humanoid ability (call Darkness for the Whelpling, Surge of Light for the Soul of Aspects). This still assumes that you did Chrominius correctly and got a Surge of Power off before he died.

Many pets find niche uses, but as a whole this is not a particularly great pet. The issue is that with the exception of Arcane Storm, all of his abilities are Flying (no surprise). Flying is the counter to Aquatic, which means you'll be using it to counter Aquatic pets. Aquatic pets usually attack with a combination of either Aquatic or Beast attacks. If the attacks are Aquatic, as an elemental, this pet will be weak to those, so you're not really countering the enemy. While you are fine against Beast attacks, Beast attacks hit weak against Flying, so you'd be better off using a Flying pet with Flying attacks. That's why, as I said, overall this is not a particularly impressive pet; there may be some niche use for it, but it's probably rare.

I had a strategy posted prior to patch 5.2 to kill this trainer reliably with 2 pets. This strategy no longer works as you cannot Howl through Cocoon Strike. However, here's an adjustment to the strategy that allows it to work.

1) Start with your low level pet. Attack once, enemy hits you with Moth Dust. Swap in your first pet.

2) Your first pet should be http:Chrominius with Bite, Ancient Blessing, and Surge of Power. The first turn you come in, you should cast Ancient Blessing as Cocoon Strike will block it anyway. From that point on, start Biting the enemy to death. If you are put to sleep, the strategy may not work pending the RNG of his Moth Balls attack.

Here is one of the important parts of the strat. If you activate the Dragon +50% damage buff and the Critter is not yet dead, cast Ancient Blessing or Pass. You want the buff to be active when the next enemy comes out.

3) Enemy brings out his Dragon. Surge of Power with the +50% damage dragon buff, and it should knock him down to about 600 health. Enemy dragon will probably kill you here. If it doesn't, start Biting, but I'll assume your first Chrominius died.

4) Bring out a second Chrominius, but this time with Howl instead of Ancient Blessing. You should be able to kill the enemy dragon with 2 bites; the first bite activates your dragon +50% dragon buff, which will probably be required to 2-shot this dragon.

5) Enemy brings out Elemental. Use Howl, then Bite, then Surge of Power, and it should die.

So I come here to see comments about the battle pet which is what this page is for, but I only see comments on how to battle the NPC which this page is not about.

I confirmed that even if the only thing that your 1st pet is soak damage, it would get experience from these pet elemental battles.

most common strategy would to use a pet that has defense against elemental like critters, i used a tolai hare pup (a rabbit), lots of damage avoidance, and a moth, most moth share the same move set, so it's quite common and viable strategy against these elemental pet battles.

those two kind of pets are very common, and with a bit of patience and luck, you should have the rare ones, find the ones with high speeds, it will be very usefull.

dragons, especially nether fairie dragon is the best agains flyer moves.

solod this trainer with the emerald proto-whelp with Emerald Bite, Emerald Presence & Emerald Dream. The fact that all pets do less damage to dragonkins combined with the damage reduction from Emerald Presence makes them do little damage to this pet. Add the fact that this pet has a big heal, you can survive all the pets the trainer throws at you.

Forget the long text about how to defeat this Master, you can easly win these 3 pets using only Emerald Proto-Whelp (level 10,15 and 20 ability).

You can also use a level 1 pet (until the Dusty misses his first attack which has a 80% miss chance) to gain some huge experience.4894 (with Safari Hat), which levels your pet to 12 (even if you miss your attack).

Just nearly soloed this guy with a p/p Infinite Whelpling, open with early advantage, you will get the double damage because the moth hits first, then use heal when the moth uses cocoon strike, then spam sleeping gas until dead, next pet will come out, use early advantage again proccing double damage + dragonkin bonus, 1 more sleeping gas, then a heal, then another sleeping gas to finish off the second pet. when the air elemental comes out, your early advantage will be off cooldown and your dragonkin proc will be up. hit the ele with early advantage and it will drop to about 300 health, whelpling will die to the next hit so just queue up any pet with a decently large hit to finish him off, any mechanical with ion beam, any undead with ghostly bite, flying with alpha strike, I personally used my lvl 19 pandaren dragonlings lightning bolt to get the xp on him. using this strategy you can use both the plushie and a leveling pet and still win the fight.

also, the infinite whelpling is easy to find around the caverns of time in tanaris, there are plenty of them (in case anyone was wondering where to get this amazingly wonderful battlepet)
