Has anyone actually caught a rare-quality version of this pet yet?

Getting all the rares in Elwynn, Redridge, and (the rest of) Duskwood's rares took me maybe 20-30 minutes per zone total; I've been trying for this little guy for about two hours with no luck. Couple of dozen uncommons, but no precious rares...

Only found in Duskwood. They're pretty sparse, but they can appear as a secondary pet joining battle throughout the zone.

These guys can appear as a secondary pet to Dusk Spiderlings.

I don't know how sparse they are, but I found one as a primary in about 1 minute on the west end of the zone.

After collecting the spiders in the same area I did a couple of laps and couldn't find any as primary pets to battle and no luck with one as a secondary whilst battling random pets as I was going along I headed off to collect pets in a different area.

Returned at around 01:25 Server Time and looked around a little more and found one on my first lap at the 39.6, 24.6 pin point, he was paired ironically with a Black Rat.

He was only poor quality but it gets the tick on the Safari achievement :)

If you care about stats at Level 6 Poor Quality he has:

340 Health
51 Attack
54 Speed

and most abilities are effective against critters expect his level 15 ability of 'Counterstrike'

Had a very hard time finding one of these little guys. Battled everything in the zone since others have suggested that it is apparently easier to catch this little guy as a secondary pet. After about an hour I finally found a little family of thse Rat Snakes at the bottom of the mountain in Duskwood. The waypoint was around 54.3 58.7; however, the snakes that I found was around 30 yards of this area. Not sure if I was just extremely lucky in this area, but when I went back approxcimately 10 minutes later two more had spawned.

These pets aren't exceptionally rare, but nor are they exceptionally common. The problem is that in Duskwood there are a lot of pets in the zone, so even when taking an "average" share of the spawning pool, these pets are semi-uncommon. There's nothing special about this pet otherwise. If you want to find one, kill any other spawns you find. Note that they do not spawn in the same area as the Duskwood Spiderlings, which appear to spawn on their own spawn table, so killing the Spiderlings isn't going to help; steer clear of their spawn area period as you're just wasting your time. Generally, follow the edge of the mountains in this zone and the graveyard to the west of the zone, these are the high-density spawn areas where you'll tend to find these and spawns to kill.

Note that I don't recommend testing secondary spawns for these. Yes, they do show up as secondary spawns. But Duskwood has a LOT of possible secondary spawns, and you only get one secondary per pull, so the rate at which you find these as secondaries is very low. When hunting rares, you're better off just pulling Rat Snakes you find on the map and killing anything else.

It took me a little over 3 hours of hunting to get a rare one, they are not very common. If you are going to farm them, I recommend staying on the southern part of Duskwood, as that's where the primary spawns are. They share spawn spots with all the other pets in the zone, and have one additional pet with them.

They do definitely appear as secondary pets, as when I finally got mine it was secondary to a Mouse. I took note of each pet that had a Rat Snake as a secondary spawn:

Rat Snake (yes, two at a time)
Roach
Black Rat
Skunk
Dusk Spiderling
Widow Spiderling
Mouse
Chicken

Basically every pet in the zone can have one of these as it's secondary spawn. Best of luck to you all; this one turned out to be a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.

flew into Darkshire at 3:49 am WoW time, and instantly found 2 inside, and another 3 on the outskirts, so im guessing they might be affected with day of time if people thought they were really rare!
