Back in vanilla WoW, in Feralas, there was an island known as 'Isle Of Dread'. It was filled with a number of elite (raid-level) level 60 chimeras known as 'Chimaeroks'. The most powerful of these was Lord Lakmaeran, a raid boss. They were part of the old Ahn'Qiraj questline.

From the name, and the fact he shares appearance with the dead king, one can guess that Prince Lakma is Lord Lamaeran's son, or at least 'the next best thing'. Also, thus why his name is 'The Last Chimaerok': all the others drowned in the Cataclysm when The Isle Of Dread was flooded.

In addition to your basic battered scales and grooved fangs, this enemy drops Chimaerok Tenderloin (in large amounts; x10 and more), needed to make Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops. He drops nothing else.

While not marked as an elite, this enemy has over 4 million HP, and hits very, very hard. Don't go into this fight expecting an easy kill! As a well-geared level 85 hunter, he was still hitting my turtle pet for well over 10k per hit. In addition, he enrages at 50%, increasing his attack speed and damage. You *will* need a healer for this! And possibly another party member or two to help get enough DPS so he doesn't run said healer out of mana.

After killing him, I returned 5 hours later to find that he had respawned. So the bottom end of his timer can be set at 5 hours or less.

He is tameable (as stated by Beast Lore), though as he is level 87, hunters will be unable to tame this one until they are well into MoP levels.

Here is some other useful information:

He also drops large amounts of leather after being skinned. I got about around 10 of them but you need 530 skinning to skin him. (you can easily get that by chants and weapons with a +skinning on them)

Also to the above poster, yes you may need a healer but if you have a great tank with a lot of survival abilities you can easily do this with 2 people. (a tank and a dps) I did this with my hunter and a druid and we didn't have problems with needing heals at all.

Just solo'd him as a 380ilvl Blood DK, easy kill, didn't even get me below 93%

Edit: Interestingly enough, you can fly off the coast and explore the Isle of Dread even though it is underwater, for no fatigue cost, kinda cool.

So what makes this particular chimaerok so meaty...? Remember the days of slaughtering the entire chimaerok population on the Isle of Dread only to get a few? In any case, thank you Blizzard for putting this drop back in the game!

This guy is really easy to solo as a prot pally. Just save your cool downs for when he enrages and you will do fine (just keep seal of insight up and stun him every once in a while to heal). If you do this you can easly solo him, it will just take 10 or so minutes because he has 4.1m life. =p. And interrupt his lightning breath because it hits around 20k, that's what will kill you if anything.

Just a note. If he kills you at the south end of his range, you spawn at the graveyard in Silithus 1200 yards away. At the north end of his range you end up in Illiden in Ferelas. Either way, there is no foot path to get to his location, so it's Rez time.

Also, note, he does NOT drop the epic recipe, just the mats for it.

I killed him yesterday around 2:30pm EST, and Today around 1:00pm EST. His respawn rate seems to be short, unless I just got lucky.

Either way if you are trying to farm this guy for Chimaerok Tenderloin, check up on him daily. Good Luck

As a level 72 holy paladin I didn't survive very long and I wish I would have read these comments about no foot path to the prince. It would have saved me 20 minutes looking for one.

For all the people who is looking for fun with elites to kite them somewhere you want. This guy is kiteable for sure, managed to kite him to Orgrimmar today.
It was fascinating to see it doing Static Conduit on several people around of him, a lot of lightning effects, rofl.
Even thou, he has 4,1million health, which is kinda bad.
But, it is still worth to see people getting hit by the AoE lightning.

He respawn time is very short, killed him today around 9:30AM and he had respawned before Noon. Drops .

I'm glad they put the meat back in, but really did they need to make it a level 87 with 4.15 million HP to make level 60 food that not even twinks would uses cause we can use outland food at level 60. Just seems kinda over kill. least he doesn't drop the book I'd be wanting my bug mount then.

Could be possible for a (combat) rogue with imp recup and armor talents, maybe even kick glyph. Being able to stun him for full 9 seconds helps a lot.
One major drawback is that if you die, there doesn't seem to be a way to get back to your corpse on foot.

Easily soloable on a Blood DK. dropped 38 silver and 19 of those Chimirock steaks. Sent the meat to a guildie to cook with their newly acquired epic recipe.

Very easy to solo as a warlock. You do not even need consumables (i.e. scrolls of fortitude, flasks, food, drums of the forgotten kings).
All you have to do is glyph your voidwalker, have it tank and healthfunnel it.
For the voidwalker to get threat you will want to fully dot the prince up, demon soul and cast searing pain on it, for as long as demon soul lasts.
I recommend using your doomwalker when Prince Lakma is at 50% health, because he will enrage, dealing more damage to your voidwalker, so you would have less time to dps it.
I recommend demonology, because you get the talent "Fel Synergy". Other specs might work too.
The mob does hit quite hard, so I don't think you could simply drain tank it, gotta use your voidwalker. As long as you can do 10k healing per tick of healthfunnel you should be good.
I also recommend making a macro for doing these things at once: casting metamorphosis, casting demonic empowerment, casting demon soul, casting soulburn, and finally casting searing pain. Just spam that macro, for as long as demon soul lasts. Also, use any on use trinkets in that macro (if you have any), in my case it would be "/use Moonwell Chalice".
You pull aggro at 130%, so you don't even need to soulshatter, as long as you taunt with your voidwalker.

I don't think you can run back to where it spawns, so if you die you will have to take resurrection sickness. Soulstone yourself before pull, on the off chance you die.

Prince Lakma respawns often, I even managed to kill him 3 times in a day once (on the server US-Illidan, that's one of the most populated servers). So don't be afraid of going out there, and looking for it, chances are you will find it.

Easy solo as a prot warrior with Souldrinker. His lightning shield ability is dispellable via shield slam, his breath attack is interruptible (note: NOT reflectable) and he himself is stunnable. Never any danger of dying, did not use any cooldowns and finished the fight at 96% hp. Took roughly 6:15 to kill solo. 17 chimaerok tenderloins and a 4-stack of vendor greys.

Super easy to solo. Used my blood dk. Dropped a gray and then 20 Chimaerok Tenderloin which are supposedly no longer available in the game... hmm....

Just soloed this as an i396 enhancement shaman with 4-piece t13. Fully doable without spending points in resto, in fact the 2 points I spent in reverberation allowed me to interrupt each of his casts, which was probably what made it possible. Just keep purging his lightning shield which he only seems to refresh every 20 seconds or so. I saved heroism and spirit wolves for the last 50% but only managed to get him to 15% by the time they had finished, at which point I stuck earthliving weapon on and managed to survive... just.

He dropped 20 tenderloins for me and 2 savage leather. Worth fighting just for the nostalgia though. :)

Soloed it as a bm hunter, 391ilvl full PvP Gear. Get your worm, always keep healing. It will be a quite long fight (about 5 minutes). But if you do it right, your pet won't go under 100k hp. It hits about 13k to my worm, but my heal is 18k so np :) Jeez, people say it's quite hard etc etc, if they say hard to 13k hit, they can't really deal with 35k hit, (I do) :D It drops some meat, and some trash. Pretty fun to kill.

It was interesting to see a level 87 rare outside of pandaria. I'm curious to see if he has something on his loot table that's on the low drop%.. I'll continue to farm this one.

Easy tame at lvl 87. Managed to complete the tame before he was able to get off his lightning cast simply by starting the cast at max range.

It's a very interesting skin, with an almost leopard-esque spotting on the tail.

I solo'd this guy at 85 with a single turtle. Just kept rolling heals and used aspect of the wild to resist his lightening damage on turtle and he was good. Had to use turtle's last stand during enrage and turtle popped shield, but stayed alive. Fight was a long one, but worth it.

I was able to find him both in Silithus and Feralas area. Right as you pass the border between the two zones, he will be flying away from the zone you entered from. Thus being able to kill him twice in a row.

confirmed, soloed him as a 90 combat rogue, stunned his ass and had to use 2 Pandaria healing potion and a few lifeblood from herbalism and recuperate to stay alive, kick him when he use lightning breath or he'll drop you a bit. Dropped 15 of these that I'm looking to offload somehow since I don't have the recipe.

To those who are curious, as of 5.2, his HP value maybe /SORT/ of high, but he's a pushover now. as an assassination rogue, I easily soloed him with minimal damage that my leeching poison couldn't cover. I imagine casters might be a bit worse off, but he's easily burnable and shouldn't take down anyone in heroic dungeon/raid finder gear.

Its good to hear a Classic Boss has been brought back to Mop. I did't even know of this creature till i found him on Petopia.com. Now I hope Blizz brings back other Retired type quest boss's. Like The shark raid boss from the scepter quest. An upgrade Doctor Weavil to 90! Or at lest make the Alcaz Island a Scenario!

There is some strangeness happening on the border between Silithus and Feralas with this guy. As I cross the border, he'll either appear or disappear. Last time I was there, I was standing right on the border...and apparently so was he. Something was attacking me and I couldn't see or target it. He ended up killing my pet, which made it bug out so bad I couldn't res it, even after going to the stable master, putting it away, taking it back out, etc. So....I guess its the vengeful ghosts of the OTHER Chimaerok :P

7.3.5 I don't see this mob anymore. Removed? Yes I did the "show me Silithus from an earlier time" and the mob was not there, nor was the NPC for the Thunderfury quest.

As of the current patch, this rare still exists and still drops the meat. When killed, it despawned without letting me loot it, but a quick fly about respawned the corpse with the loot. Respawn time is unknown.

Tried to solo it while on Chromie Time. It had 394k hp, scaled for my lvl 50 Fury Warrior. I was sustaining rather well for most of the time but when it entered frenzy, I wasn't able to keep up. I died when it had 10% hp left. I am not sure if I want to try again, because I couldn't reach my corpse either so it's costly to die.

If people are looking for a challenge, I say try this on Chromie Time. (Not sure if each of them are same, it was Cataclysm timeline for me)

~And also I think there is a Lakma balls joke to be made with this guy but I am not good at setting up the joke.

This mob is a great example of world-building and something I wish we saw more of. The title implies he is the last of his species, which furthers the lore of the Chimaerok (as minor and near non-existent as it is), but we never explicitly told what caused it, it's implied it's either the island sinking, or the Chimaerok being mass slaughtered for their meat, but there is no word for sure. All of this done with a single mob with a title and some proper context, no long info dumps required, no cut-scenes needed, no in-game RP to explain anything, it's left up to player imagination.

Stumbled across this while I was flying around at level 70, was STUNNED to see that high level skull, thank goodness I didn't impulsively try to attack or tame it! Also I was super young when Vanilla came out so I had no idea about the lore of the Chimerok, very cool to learn about!
