We're all still waiting on servers to go live, but in the mean time, some postulating can be done concerning the adds that spawn in phase two.

Assuming the same health ratio for the boss as compared between Normal and Heroic difficulties...

17,850,000 / 100% = 5,250,000 / x%

17,850,000x = 525,000,000

x = 525,000,000 / 17,850,000

x = ~29.4117%

...perhaps it can be assumed that the adds will have approximately

2,000,000 * .294117 = 588,234 Hit Points

.

Or...

XT-002 hard mode divided by normal mode: 17850000 / 5250000 = 3.4

Therefore we can: hard mode adds divided 3.4: 2,000,000 / 3.4 = 588,235

Same result, less mathy.

By reading the description of his abilities this fight seems fairly strait forward, as long as everyone uses /range 10 or 20, and ensures nobody gets close to them it will be easy, though healing intensive during tantrum. as long as you have one healer that is not a paladin your set though, PoM/chain heal/wild growth ext. cant wait to seem some new content.

Noticed a bug - after our first wipe, one member went afk and didn't release his body. When the healer ran in to rez him, the entire raid entered combat, even though the boss didn't aggro. That meant - no mounting, and no using the teleporters. It's a really long run from the entrance to this boss.

Theres another bug i saw (at least in my raid group), When you go to pull the adds on either side of the room near the scrap heaps, the other side pulls.

That is a silly statement. Paladins can easily heal up 5 people in that amount of time.

Fixed as of 15th of April.

We have altered XT-002 Deconstructor's heart aggro radius down to 60 yards so players will no longer get stuck in combat when at the entrance to his room.

This is a list of a few things that isn't correct on wowhead about this boss at this date.

~~On 10 man this boss doesn't have 5.250.000 hp but 6.000.000.~~
Edit: As of patch 3.1 they have nerfed XT's normal hp with 1 million. He now has 5.000.000 hp

Pummellers have around 220k hp
Scrapbots 6,5k
Bombbots have also around 220k hp

On phase 2, XT aint inactive for the whole phase untill all of the adds are dead. He will only be inactive for 30 sec. Then he will start attacking again. Regardless of how many adds that are alive.

You don't activte the hard mode by simply clicking his heart on phase 2. You will have to kill it. It has 1.500.000 hp, but does take ~~50%~~ 100% more dmg.
Also note that any damage the heart takes, XT also gonna take when he sucks his heart back in.

So my guild are just trying this on 10-man, seems okay but reading the abilities it seems bugged.

"Change Phase: Boss - When all of the adds are dead, XT-002 will resume his attacks and become attackable again."

When all the adds are dead he changes phases? For us, after the first few spawn he comes back into action. Can anyone tell us if this is meant to happen or is it bugged?

EDIT: after reading that last post it seems that is fine, but later on we discovered the scrap bots evading which slightly hindered our attempts

Ok, so I read that there was a 10 min enrage timer on the guy.....well we did a time and its 6 min. idk if its bugged or something but its 6 min to us (Antonidas server). We did however get him to 500k health before he enraged. that was our best attempt in about 7+ tries.

Is that really the enrage timer or is it bugged and just going off at 6?

According to posts on tankspot, attacking the heart in the add phase does double damage to the boss.

edit: confirmed.

in the 20 seconds the heart was up, we were able to take it down to almost 2 million health, which did like 7 million damage to the boss.

the heart heals each time it comes up so you can repeat it again and again.

Okay so we did XT earlier today and this is how we did it and it went pretty clean and smooth.

We all ran up the stairs which is at the opposite side of where you enter.
Be as far back as you can up the stairs and when the tank engage the boss, the raid (except the tank that is) runs down to the bottom of the stairs, here is where you want to stand.
The tank shall stand at the edge of the stair so the boss is in the middle of the stair and the raid below the stairs and behind the boss

Okay so far, so good.
Now we have a resto shammy in the healing team so we want to bunch up for the chain heal during the Tympanic Tantrum, which is a raid wide damage abillite.
I suppose you want to bunch up togheter even if you dont have a resto shammy, since you dont want people to get hitted by Gravity bomb, which makes the affected target to blow up (kinda like Solarian in TK) so if you have the Gravity bomb, run straight towards the entrance of the room, but you'd still want to be in range to dps if you're a caster or in range to heal others of you're a healer.
The boss also does a Light Bomb debuff on a target which makes you do damage against everyone in a short range, so you'd want to run away if you got that debuff aswell, just remember to be in range of heals.

When you get the boss down enough to start the add phase, you'd want two ranges to kill the adds with AoE abillities, in our raid we had me (mage) and a warlock to take out the adds, but I suppose any range clas with an AoE would work just as fine.
You'd want to kill the Bomb robots by single target, since they have abit more hp then the rest of the robots.

Some Pummeler robots will spawn aswell, we had an OT tanking those behind the raid with the back against the raid to avoid cleave.
We totally ignored those robots and went straight to dps'ing the hearth.

Now you DONT want to kill the heart, cause if you do, you'll have an enraged boss and that will result in a whipe.
The trick is to get the heart down to 10-15% and then just leave it be, after a while the boss will become active and you can start to dps him again. After a while he'll go into the robot/hearth phase again and you'll do exactly as you did the first time.

Might be better ways to do this but this is how we did it and it went very very smooth.

Simple summary for those who don't need a lot of detail and want to figure some things out on their own.

Phase 1:
Lightbomb/gravity bomb: spread out 10 yards

Phase 2: Tank pummelers, range dps bombs, aoe scrapbots (they heal boss)

Back to phase 1: Pummel added to boss (big aoe heals are needed)

Back to phase 2: rinse and repeat

You have to dmg the heart while is exposed, the boss takes also dmg (Don't kill it thought since he will enter Hard mode). We had 2-3 tries on him till we saw it actually works.
Also don't bother killing XM-024 Pummellers just OT them near the boss so they get dmg from AE abilities and die at some point. The only problem is that the area near boss will be overcrowded so the melees have to watch carefully for the bomb debuff

If you're about to learn this encounter, i highly recommend reading this XT-002 Deconstructor Boss Strategy Guide before starting. It will makes many things easier!

Our guild did him last night following this guide in just 1.5 hours of trying.

Hehe, as Mintedjo says. We aswell thought killing the heart would trigger hard mode. So Officers were like, "Don't touch the heart". So we didn't :b

Just a little note, his Tympanic Tantrum ability can be vastly simplified by having a Paladin bubble and then activate Divine Sacrifice since this will allow DS to be active for its entire duration. You may not be able to do this every time (unless you have a lot of Paladins, of course), but it certainly helps.

ATTENTION ROGUES

1.Your main task will be to dps the boss from behind (unless your helping with adds)
2.Make sure your use your feint ability when he Tantrums (stomp) it will mitigate a ton of dmg and help your healers .
3. Keep at least 10 yards away from every one else (except when the heart is out)
4.If You see any scrap bots get near the boss your need to Fan of Knife them ASAP
5.Dont Die and Killing spree on the heart only
6.You can cloak out of any spell the boss puts on you.

The berserk timer for both 10-man and 25-man encounters is 6 minutes. There is no soft enrage.
Also, if a single scrapbot reaches him, he heals for 100k in 10-man. Not sure about 25-man.

6 min berserk kinda sucks. Considering effective 4.5 min while boss is available (6 min minus 3x30sec). Every dps should be capable of (25mln / (17 * 4.5 * 60) ) ~ 5.3 k dps. QQ

You can DPS the heart as well, and that damage is transferred onto him. The enrage timer on this boss is eminently reachable.

once killed this boss can be pulled apart by an engineer.
the loot inside consists of 2X 3 eternals. some cobalt bolts. and a titansteel bar.

i cannot confirm if this will always drop, this is the first time he has been pulled apart in our raid.

Pretty easy fight on 10man if you know what you're doing, just a tip, have all ranged grouped up near the center of the room and tank him where he stands.

Yes, it's possible to kill him without touching the heart... it's ridiculously hard, but possible. I know because that's what we did tonight, making the same mistake everyone else did. Got him just after he enraged :)

Also, in 10 man mode if you have a well-geared tank (a DK is best) he can tank the pummelers and the Deconstructor all at once which frees up another DPS slot... Probably not possible in 25 man. And the more ranged DPS the better during this fight, so there's less running around when he Bombing and Tantrumming...

Since there doesn’t seem to be a guide in good format up on these forums yet, I’ll do my best to explain it.

COMPOSITION:
Tanks: 3, possibly 2 at a bare minimum. One single target tank (we found druids and warriors to be best) on the boss itself taking huge hits but otherwise not doing much, and one aoe tank picking up growing numbers of Scrapbots.
Heals: We used 6, I can see 7 working, possibly 5 once everyone’s decked out in Ulduar gear. There is tons of raidwide damage on this fight as well as tons of tank damage, so all classes should find a niche.
DPS: Lots of it. If your DPS isn’t well geared enough (100% ilvl 213 and up) you will not beat the enrage timer.

This boss has two phases, both of which are pretty straightforward.
PHASE 1: He uses all three of the abilities wowhead lists. He doesn’t have priority targets, other than that he doesn’t cast them on the main tank.
- Light Bomb: The person with this debuff ticks for 3.5k damage every second on himself and anyone within 10 yards every second. If you have deadly boss mods, type /range. If nobody else is within that range and you have the light bomb, don’t move. You’ll need heals, but not too many unless you are also trying to survive a tantrum (in which case, good luck. If you live, you owe your healers about a million thanks)
- Gravity Bomb: The person with this debuff will, at the end of 9 seconds, pull everybody within 20 yards (wowhead is wrong on this, it’s more than 10 yards on heroic) to them and sustain ~18k damage. The most dangerous part of this spell is that you will either interrupt a healer, and that the 18k damage will hit during a tantrum, in which case you are most likely dead.
- Tympanic Tantrum: My guild found that at least 6 healers were required for this fight, and it helps to assign groups for the tantrum. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO KEEP EVERYONE TOPPED OFF DURING THIS ABILITY. Assign one healer to each group, so that each healer knows how much each person can take without dying to the tantrum (for a druid, usually a wild growth + nourish on each person was enough to keep them alive, barring light bomb). Your sixth healer will be a spot healer, hitting whoever looks in dire need of aid.

PHASE 2: He shuts down for 30 seconds and takes massively more damage (I don’t know the exact number, but it seemed like about x3 to me), a la Curator. There are three classes of adds that also spawn during this phase, all of which spawn after a spark jumps from the Deconstructor to one of the junk heaps at the edge of the arena:
- Boom Bots: Have 12k HP and explode on death, only a few (1-3) spawn at once. Your ranged DPS needs to take these out.
- Scrapbots: Have 25k HP and heal the Deconstructor if they make it to him, many (5-10) spawn at once. Don’t let them get to him.
- Pummelers: No special abilities, they have much more health than the other two and need to be tanked.

TIPS: Aside from what I mentioned dealing with his three abilities above, there is a set way to approach this boss. The only way to beat this boss before the enrage is to pump out as much DPS on his heart as possible (while not killing it – we’ll require more gear before we could even think about getting it to 0% without a bloodlust), while still preventing the boombots from wiping your melee and the scrapbots from healing him.

Our guild found that this was best accomplished by having the melee go all out for the duration of phase 2, while a select few ranged DPS takes care of the adds. Mages, warlocks and moonkins all have good AOE and do well against the groups of scrapbots, while any ranged class can take out a boom bot.

The damage will grow to noticeable levels at 50% and be annoying at 25%, but it is very possible to heal through it, and is worth the extra DPS you get on the boss.

Edit: Do not let your tank stand on the stairs. Standing close is fine, but on them can cause the adds (boombots and scrapbots) to show up as "out of range" and therefore unattackable, which will very likely wipe your raid either via melee dying or an enrage.

This is by no means a comprehensive guide. If there are corrections, suggestions, or additions to be made, by all means make them. Good luck in Ulduar!

We engaged him tonight again and his enrage timer on 25man was 6min. You gotta have good enough dps to shave 25% of his hp in 1min, then dps the heart for 30sec, rinse repeat. Very roughly, if you're able to burn 25% a min which brings you to 4min, that means the other 2min is divided between dps the heart and dealing with adds. You simply cant afford to lose anyone on this fight, at least until everyone is better geared. If all your dpsers can pull 3.5-4k dps average on boss fights, it should be totally doable.

We've been trying him on 10man and figured out a few things.

If you have any damage mitigation CDs, pop them for the tantrum. For example I pop barkskin every tantrum. Takes some stress off the healers. You still need 3 though.

Get your healers to join in DPSing the heart, they shouldn't have much healing to do then, and pop all your CDs. You shouldn't be in too much danger of killing it, but if it's getting low, break off and deal with the adds.

The Pummelers don't really do anything special, so once your add tank has picked them up, he can drag them to the boss and join in with DPSing the boss.

Boombots will also follow normal aggro table, but will explode when their health reaches 50%, damaging players and NPCs in proximity - I can confirm this. I was AOEing the heal bots and caught one of the boombots in it. It exploded and finished off all the bots nearby. I think this is perhaps what you're meant to be doing rather than burning all your mana on AOEs.

Edit: I just noticed an achievement for this guy which seems to confirm the above:
Nerf Scrapbots - Defeat 20 XS-013 Scrapbots within 12 seconds using XE-321 Boombots on Normal Difficulty.

Edit 2: While it sounds nice in theory, you don't get a boombot that often with the scrapbots. I did manage to root one and blow it up as the scrapbots were going by, but only do this if it's quicker than AOEing them. Any other boombots, let them get to the boss and blow up in his face for extra damage. Just make sure to give the melee fair warning to get out of range.

If you have engineers in the raid, make sure that they have http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=54736 Personal Electromagnetic Pulse Generator</a> on their belt. Does make a difference for add control in both 10 and 25 man.

When I was add-tanking, I brought them all over to me (or moved to them) and just AoE shocked them. Placing a "bunny bomb" on the floor before the EMP will result in some AoE damage as well.

As Ret, I serve as the last line of defense in the odd-ball case of any bots surviving the AoE or being lost in the confusion. Max melee range and shock them w/ no loss to DPS, since it does not affect me on my GCD.

While killing him on 10 man, I noticed that while we tanked him at the top of the stairs, when he went in the heart phase, I got constant "Cannot see target" messages while trying to attack the heart while I stood on the top of the platform. By moving down a step or two on the stairs, I could attack the heart just fine.

Thanks for this. We were tanking him at the bottom of the stairs and some of the melee mentioned having difficulty DPSing the heart. So just need to pull him away from the stairs a bit. Ideally tank him in the middle. We had to break off DPS on the heart to kill scrapbots from the nearest corners getting dangerously close.

On 10 man I skinned him for Cobalt Bar x 19, Eternal Earth x 4, Eternal Shadow x4, and Overcharged Capacitators x 5.

We downed this boss yesterday with 1 tank and 4 healers. We figured out that the OT wasn't necessary at all so he respecced to healing to help out against Tantrum and against the plummelers (more on this later). Our group composed of a DK as MT, 2 Holy, paladins, 1 REsto shaman, 1 Resto Druid, 1 Arcane Mage, 1 Surv Hunter (me), 1 UH DK, 1 assassination rogue and 1 Shadow Priest. Our strat was simple, we just dpsed the boss until his hearth dropped, we then proceeded to use all of our cds on it until it was around 15-20% hp then I Misderected the Plummelers to our MT who would just aoe tank everything while we disposed of the scrap bots and bomb bots.

We proceeded to do this until he did his 3rd phase 2 where our Shaman would BL us, both dks would use army of dead and we used our cds again to drop the hearth hp the most we could without killing it. By the end of this phase his hp should be around 8-10% where we just burned him down as fast as we could, while dealing with the closest scrap bots, we didn't kill any of the plummelers, our dk tanked all of them and the boss at the same time, they just died by both dk diseases and D&D, so the dps could only focus on the boss and scrap bots.

All in all, a very fun encounter and the satisfaction of killing it really pumped us up for the next bosses. He dropped http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45687 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45677

In terms of positioning, I found that you want your melee on the boss the whole time (ignore adds), and split your ranged DPS into two groups on the east/west side of the room. Tank him right in the middle (if you tank him anywhere else the benefit from being further from some scrap piles is countered by him being closer to others). Split up your heals as well so you have one/some at each group.

For 10man you definitely need 3 healers for this. If you have priests, be sure to have them in the same groups in your raid window as the group they're physically near in the room so their Prayer of Mending can hit them all.

If you have heroism/bloodlust, pop it on the first add phase at 75%. For a good 5-10 seconds the raid will be taking NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER and the adds move slowly enough that you can ignore them for a bit (including pummelers; if you don't attack them they won't aggro until they reach the boss) and have everyone, healers included, nuke the heart.

Pulling him is really easy. He pats back and forth across the room and has a small aggro radius; you can just walk up to where you want him, wait for him to cross in front of the stairs, and range pull him. Nothing fancy.

Downed him today as a resto shaman in 10 man, had been trying unsucessfuly in 25. A couple things to note. The 2 biggest concerns are light bomb, and tantrum. Light bomb doesnt necessarily have to be one if your members are aware that they have it and sufficiently spaced out, however this is a bit more difficult for melee. Quite a large source of damage depending on how many melee you have. T

he problem with spacing though is chain heal will not bounce 3 times (getting it to make just 1 jump makes me feel lucky) when healing ranged raid members, meaning you will either have to position yourself so that it will "conduct", or just pop a few LHW's or HW's after riptide/chain healing the melee. Without some sort of support from either a druid healer or CoH/PoH priest it can get pretty hairy trying to keep everyone up.

What will ROYALLY screw you over during this time is if someone is unfortunate enough to get a light bomb on him right before he goes into a tantrum; at best it means one person gets really close to dying and will most likely die without a pot or assistance, and at worst (which happened a few times) the person will be right in the middle of a few people due to killing adds/repositioning/running etc, and then people are taking 2500ish dps+10% of their health every second which is incredibly difficult to heal through without popping natures swiftness. Even then, it wont be enough to save everyone who it heals.

However we found that when dpsers killed him fast enough, they forced him to shut down before he would tantrum; we would pop hero and dps the heart down (got pretty close to killing it, even i dpsed it as not much raid damage during this phase) and then he would come back. About 10 seconds later he would shut down again (now at around 3 million health) and leave his heart open to dps. It worked quite well, as you have him to about 40-30% before he even uses tantrum, which means you are beating his enrage timer by quite a large margin.

As for the 25 man mode, our healing seemed to be fine as well as tanks. The problem was dps, its vital that everyone is pulling their own weight and not being carried.

The heart has been buffed to 10 million HP over the previous 7.5 million cited from old sources. It also only stays channeled for 30 seconds (aka, the heart is only targettable for 30 seconds). I am unable to verify the accuracy of the 30 second channeling length myself, and I've cited this number from wowwiki.

To highlight the enormity of even activating the hard mode a little simple maths goes a long way.

Assuming you have 17 DPS, they will have to be doing a combined total of 333,333 DPS (based on a 30 second channel) to kill the heart before it disappears back into the deconstructor. Split between 17 DPS, they will have to be pumping out around 19,600 DPS each. As the heart has a 100% more damage taken debuff, we can essentially cut this number in half to illustrate certain aspects and compare numbers to 'normal fights' (*cough* patchwerk *cough*). By doing this, we end up with 9800 DPS required per person to even initiate the Hard-Mode. Of course this is leaving out tank DPS, Healer DPS (you'll need it...) so I estimate the total value to be around the 9k+ mark for aspiring DPSers on current 'sit still and beat the crap out of it' bosses.

Tell you what, why don't I make it even easier by assuming you have 25 full DPS slots (hypothetically). Even at this level you are to sustain 6700~ DPS per person over a 30 second parse on patchwerk. Without Bloodlust. Just to put things in y'know, perspective.

Have the shamans setup camp in the center in front of the steps out of the deconstructors pat area along with the rest of the group. Have the spriest and Mage stand off to either side close to both scrapbot piles ready for add duty. We'll call them 'cleanup'.
As the tank pulls have the holy pally and disc priest step out to the sides a bit to be in range of everyone on their side and to reduce the need to move when affected by light or gravity bomb.if you are positioned right, there should be 5 people that don't need to move. The two on cleanup, the side healers and the MT.

Have everyone dps but save cooldowns. Blow heroism/bloodlust about 5 seconds or so before the heart drops down. Having a target heart macro would be useful. Have the OT pick up the pummelers and that is cleanup's signal to continue dps'ing the heart while they can but to look around for adds because they don't spawn consistently. Sometimes they will come in large numbers very soon, sometimes hardly at all. Have the ele shaman float to the side struggling the most. I recommend the shadow priest not use the mind flay glyph for the snare as well as equip the mind sear one. The adds are the key to the fight and allowing any to get through or blow up is not acceptable. If you did heroism right you should nearly be right back into phase 2 again. Repeat. Also note, if your on cleanup, you will likely need to call for help. The melee are the last wall of defense as cleanup tries to get as many as possible so melee should always be ready to peel off if a scrap not is getting close or to run if a bombbot got through.

XT hard mode was buffed in a recent patch.

The heart has about ~~3.5~~ 5 million effective hp (7 10 million, but it takes double damage) on heroic and it heals to full between every exposure.

If your dps is high enough to kill the heart by mistake, you probably have the dps to defeat him on hard mode anyway. :-)

Wanted to add a piece of information.

We went for the hard mode kill in 10 man. We decided to wait til the 25% heart drop to go for the heart kill so we would have less time with him getting the dmg buff.

We killed the heart with a bloodlust fairly easily. When that happened, the boss died and we did not get credit for the achievement.

Basically, if you are going for hard-mode you can't kill the heart on the last shift. Does anyone know if the boss heals to full when you kill the heart, or do you just have the remainder of the fight with him getting the damage boost?

If he does not get healed, I would suspect the ideal time to kill the heart would be on his 50% shift, so you have less time to deal with the buffed boss. If he heals after the heart dies, then 75% would be the time to kill the heart. 25% is out of the question if you are going for the achievement, although killing it at 25% does end the fight.

Incorrect. You want to damage the heart - you just don't want to destroy it. The heart suffers amplified damage from all attacks, and transfers all damage received over to XT once the heart phase ends. Damaging the heart is pretty much required to kill the 25 man version.

Protips for this fight:

-- All "immunity" mechanics can remove the bombs - ie. Cloak of Shadows, Divine Shield, Ice Block, etc.

-- AOE mitigation is a huge boon for Tantrums. Usually a well timed Feint from a Rogue will allow them to survive a Tantrum with minimal or even no heals.

-- Save DPS cooldowns and consumables for Heart Phases. Most of the damage done to XT will actually be done through the Heart, since it suffers amplified damage and then transfers the damage to XT.

-- XT has an extremely large hitbox. This can be taken advantage of in a number of ways, not all of which I'll elaborate on here. One thing I will mention is that this allows melee to stand far back from XT, letting them continue DPS'ing XT but also be in a position to quickly and easily turn their attention to any loose bots that are creeping too close to him.

He now has reduced hp on heroic, 22 499 000 instead of 25 000 000. I made a quick calculation for what kind of dps ppl will need overall for the fight to down him.

22 499 000 / 6 = 3 749 833,333 damage per minute.

3 749 833,333 / x (the ammount of dps:ers you got, we had 16 when we downed him) = 234 364,333 the ammount each dps will need to put out during that minute.

234 364,333 / 60 = 3906. The dps that each person will need to keep.

Or to keep it simple:

22499000 / 360 = 62497,222 is the raid dps you'll need to keep to down him.

Note: If you'd have this exact dps he'd enrage the same second as you'd deal the killing blow.

This aint hard considering that when the heart is out you deal double damage, we had a few people above 6k dps when we downed him.

EDIT: This excludes the tanks and healers that might dps during the heart phase, but still to be safe you should replace anyone with under 4k dps on this boss encounter.

In case of an "oh crap" moment and one of the tanks dies while tanking the pummellers, it IS possible to slow and kite them, though it is not recommended that this technique is used unless it is a last case scenario and you are on the last 5-10% of the boss. I, myself had the thrill of doing this on my Restoration Shaman when our Paladin Tank took Light Bomb, and Add damage during the Tantrum phase and I noticed a mass of metal coming at me. Gogo Earthbind Totem? We ended up killing him and I almost died laughing.

So this fight is going to be simple. On 10 man we downed him first try with the following group.
-Death Knight tank
-Prot pally OT
-Fury DPS war
-DK Dps
-Hunter DPS
-Fire mage for adds(frost works better)
-demonology lock-(another frost mage is best)
-Disc Priest for healing
-Resto sham for healing
-And another ret pally for dps.
When you walk into this room there will be 4 piles of junk, these piles will spawn adds spoken of later on in this post. one ranged dps should be assigned left or right side of the room so they will be able to manage 2 piles each. it is not hard. The boss fight is very very easy, first off since the nerf he has 5 million hp and the heart takes more damage. How you need to organize the raid. THis boss will put on various bombs during the fight, the ranged dps and healers should form a sort of walkway for anyone afflicted witht he bomb to run through without getting near fellow raid members. The part where most groups die is the tantrum, before he does this he will say NO NO NO NO NO NO. it isnt very hard to heal through with raid bars u can just click the lowest hp people and move to the ones with most hp. when my guild downed this boss, we brought him to the base of the stairs making the adds have a long way to walk to get to us. at 75% 50% and 25% the boss will drop his heart, all dps except those taking care of the adds should take down as much health as possible. though be sure not to kill it or hard mode will be started, (but anyone reading this prob doesnt have the dps to get to hard mode if they wanted to ) the heart has 1.8million hp and lets say u take down 1.5million health from it when the boss turns back on he will take 1.5million damage. if ur dps is good on the heart u will prob need to go through 1 or 2 tantrums. the ultimate weight of this simple fight falls to the shoulders of the add control and the healers. if the adds get to him u will most likely wipe. The bomb adds explode when near the boss and will destroy all your dps and tank. the scrapbots heal the boss when near him so this may prevent you from reaching the enrage timer if he gets too many. the scrapbots are very low hp and a blizzard will kill them so damn quick they prob wont make it 2 feet away from the pile they spawned. Good luck to those attempting this. (PS. i forgot the offtank will need to pikcup robots that will spawn from same piles ad thehealing adds called pummelers these just need to be tanked they dont hit for almost anything, and u can ignore the fact that they are there. simply have the OT pick them up.)

thats what was kicking my butt on 10 man, stupid scrap bots.

we were dpsing on the heart, and by the time we're done with that, there are scrapbots getting quite close to him and we are unable to stop them all. 100k per bot is a LOT to deal with.

need to stop dpsing the heart at about half its expose-timer; this should also help kill all scrap bots and get back in position instead of being caught at all 4 corners by the next tantrum...

I must say this guy really is a fun fight and he will flush out the retards in your raid that don't know when to move when they get the bomb debuff on them.

If you tank the boss at one of the side walls, between two scrap piles, those two nearest piles will not spawn any adds during Phase 2. All the adds will spawn from the far two corners, giving you valuable time for damaging the heart. Make sure your aoe members are at the back line, so they can turn around halfway through heart attack and aoe all the coming adds in unison.

The health points quoted on details for adds is incorrect. Correct details (from wowhead pages) is (normal - heroic):

XM-024 Pummeller - Health: 252,000 - 567,000
XS-013 Scrapbot - Health: 6,426 - 25,000
XE-321 Boombot - Health: 12,600 - 50,400

Where possible, focus on Boombots (only need to reduce to 50% hp to cause Boom! explosion (15,000 damage to anyone within 10 yards including Scrapbots. Effectively 25,200 damage required to explode) when close to Scrapbots is the most effective way to kill them.

You can root them until Scrapbots are close if required. If no Boombots close, then just AOE. Don't leave it too long for killing them as without Boombot explosion they take some decent AOE to get down and move all the time unless rooted (when damage will usually break the root)

Boombots can be left to reach XT-002 Deconstructor where they do damage him also, just warn melee when they are close. But best used against Scrapbots if possilbe.

Major changes to several bosses in 3.1.2, here are the Deconstructor changes.

* Tympanic Tantrum now deals 10% damage every second for 8 sec. (Down from 12 sec.)

* Searing Light now deals 2250 damage to all enemies within 8 yards. (Down from 2750 damage within 10 yards)

* Gravity Bomb (10) now deals 11700 to 12300 damage to enemies within 12 yards. (Down from 17100 to 18900 damage and up from 10 yards)

* Gravity Bomb (25) now deals 14625 to 15735 damage to enemies within 12 yards. (Down from 19000 to 21000 damage and up from 10 yards)

* Heartbreak now increases damage by 40% and health by 150%. (Up from 35% damage and 45% health)

we attempted hard mode on this boss in normal the other day. but were encountered with healing insufficiency after we engaged hard mode with a priest and a shaman. we cannot shatter the heart without 6 dps. but i feel we would be able to do this with one tank and the paladin switching to holy easily, as an offtank really isn't needed if we dogpile behind the boss, and the pummellers really do next to nothing on a well-geared tank.

It's interesting that you have to kill the heart to get into hard mode because the heart has a lot of health, (I know your damage on it is increased by 50% but it's still a lot.)

I actually think it's pretty fair that entering hard mode is...well....hard! ^^ because if you haven't got the dps to get the heart down you certainly haven't got the dps to down him with 40% more health before the enrage timer.
The heart concept is actually just a pre-test, to see if you can pass the actual test.

Now... not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but we killed Decon. on 10 man (after downing both Ignis and Razor, if that makes any difference). Both peices of loot were passed out, while I excitedly waited on the sidelines to engineer him. =) When I went to right click on him, i saw that there was no godly magical little mining symbol saying that I would be the one to take him apart!
I did put in a ticket to Blizzard, but was told:

Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfill your request at this time. Though our goal is to resolve every issue as requested, certain actions are beyond the scope of the Game Master Department. We regret any inconvenience you may have been caused.

So.. my suggestion would be to keep checking back whilst continuing your adventures in Ulduar, you know, just in case. (You know the only reason you're in there is for the Mechano-Hog ~ right?)

We tried an alternate positioning strategy that worked very well for us last night. Instead of tanking the boss near the stairs, position him either on the left or the right (we took the right) between the two piles on the side of your choosing. We found that with this positioning, no adds would spawn from those two nearby piles, instead all of them spawning from the piles on the other side of the room. This meant that our DPS could focus on the heart for the entire time it was out, with no risk of adds reaching the boss due to the increased distance they had to travel. In addition, because adds were only coming from two places, the ranged found it very trivial to get them all down.

We might see a hotfix for this soon, but it certainly worked well for us!

This boss is an absolute joke now. On 10 man, you can get all three heart phases in the space of about 10-15 seconds of each other, if not less.

Heroic isn't that much harder either. Ruined a good fight.

Killed XT on hard mode last night in 10 man. I'd like to say it was difficult but it was an absolute joke with a good group. The past couple weeks it has been just out of our reach so as you can imagine we made quick work of her.

The strat we used was pretty simple, tank n spank, had our DK (who was dps specc'd) tank the assault bots that originally came out, once she went into hard mode we actually took our time and killed off the assault bots, then killed her with 3 minutes to go on the enrage. Had a few close calls with light bombs ticking during Tantrums, but we also only brought 2 healers (Druid and myself on my Pally)

The key to Hard Mode is to handle the Life Sparks efficiently. They do some pretty serious area effect damage to people around them. They spawn when the Light Bomb fades off it's target wherever that person is.

Think of a captial T where the bottom point is the boss/tank/melee dps. The top left and right points are 2 ranged dps (we had 2 hunters which worked very well). When Hard Mode is activated and someone gets hit by Light Bomb they run to the top of the T intersection to drop off the Life Spark. The 2 ranged DPS then ping pong (FD and Distracting Shot worked well here) and kill the spark and it's area damage doesn't hit anyone. The Life Sparks have a threat table and are tauntable.

Something strange happened on one of our Deconstructor kills.

Right as he died... we were rewarded with two achievements signifying that he had died. However... as he died he also consumed a scrapbot popping back to life.

Just a rare tidbit that our group found that night.

Tip:
Tank him on one of the sides of the room (left / right from where you enter the room) between two of the trash piles where the robots spawn. NO ROBOTS at all will spawn from those two trash piles! He will cast his lightning bolts into those two near trash piles but no robots will spawn there. This means about 50% less robots in heart phase (50/50 chance that he throws his bolts into the near or the far trash piles).

This trivializes normal mode and helps focussing on the heart enough for hard mode because no robots get even near the boss during the first heart phase.

We down him easy in 10 and 25 man with the same sorta strat.

Tank XT on the left side (looking into the room) between the piles and close to the wall. This will force the adds to come from the right side piles. Makes it MUCH easier to deal with them. Otherwise, smash him in the face!

Also melee DPS can stand between his legs and smash the heart. This gets you back to smacking quicker when heart goes away.

It's confirmed in 10 man, we only had two people taking adds the whole time. also if the two guys taking out adds die you have plenty of time to finish the heart phase before the bots get close. Time for hard mode!

This boss is easy, even in hard mode, i would suggest if you want hard mode bring only 2 healers. in this case my guild uses myself ( a pally healer) and a tree, we also have 2 other druids in the group as well a boomkin and a feral druid dps. being a pally healer i almost never go OOM, but our tree does not hold back on healing. he uses every bit of mana he can to keep everyone alive. thats where the other druids come in... 3 innervates in 1 fight will considerably increase the trees healing. if he does not need the third one, the pally healer gets it. also, during tantrum. we have a ret pally specced into Divine Sacrifice (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=64205) pop his bubble and pop divine sacrafice. it mitigates half the damage from the temporal tantrum every time his cooldowns are up.

It was mentioned previously in the comments that upon activating hard mode, XT's health returns to 100% while the enrage timer does not reset from when you first engaged it. Best to activate hard mode during first heart exposure.

Some effects put on the heart during one heart phase can carry over to the next heart phase if you burn him down enough to have the heart pop again before the debuff's duration runs out.

For example, refresh a sunder armor on the heart just before it goes back in and if the heart pops again within 30 seconds the sunder stack will still be there.

Some effect stay and some don't, although I don't have a list of which do and don't. But Sunder Armor definitely does. This makes burning him down quite a bit faster. Really useful if you're going for the speed kill.

With regards to when his heart drops, does it have a 'back' side? can it dodge/parry? DPS always runs around to face him, but the heart can be hit from a mile away where you stand the entire time. J/W if its worth moving if I can target it from where I'm at since I get a lot of 'you must be facing your target' or 'too far away' on the heart and waste a LOT of time. Really annoying. Kologarns arm does the same crap.

im not good at math im guessing, can some one help me do this calculation, it says for hardmode u have to down the heart in 30 seconds, the heart has 7.2mill hp, and u have like say 6dps, so each dps has to do 1.2mill damage on the boss, in 30seconds. How much dps is that, is it counted time over damage or damage over time

I have a question about the normal 10-man version.

We are having problems in this fight because XT spawns 5-6 Pummellers during the heart phase (sometimes even more), and about 3-4 waves of scrapbots as well.

In all the videos I've found I just see about 2 Pummellers and not so many scrapbots waves, so we don't understand what's happenning.

We also tried to tank him in the left side (not in the stairs) but the problem gets worse, with the adds spawning before the heart phase (from the start of the fight) and again in high numbers.

Anyone had this problem and found any solution?

His bombs are removed by cloak. (this works for several other classes with similar abilities too)

If you're doing hardmode try to use cloak for Gravity Bombs. Use sprint to run over to a far corner, cloak to drop off the void zone in an out of the way area and sprint back to safety. Your healers won't even have to look at you!

surprised no one has posted this yet but if you have a blood DK you can put on him during his tantrum and it will actually heal the raid a good bit...

Also confirmed that if you tank him between 2 scrapiles on either side NO ADDS will spawn from those piles...really helps with dpsing the heart to do DOUBLE DAMAGE to XT...

also if you are woried about killing the heart by mistake dont be worried....you have to do a lot of damage in a very limited amount of time to kill the heart and activate hard mode...

usually you have to pull the healers and have the tank dps as hard as possible to kill the heart...

XT-002 uses the same animation model as the Fel Reavers from Burning Crusade. From the way the shoulders rotate to the way the fists get smashed into the ground, this is a lift of the Fel Reaver animations.

Just in case anyone was wondering where they've "seen XT-002 before," as a member of my raid did last night.

You can no longer keep XT in one corner to keep the adds from spawning on one side. This makes completing the hard mode a little harder in that you need to kill more trash.

The animation for gravity and light bomb debuffs has been changed, is it VERY obvious who has the debuff. Quite an intense glow now.

Heavily buffed for 3.2. Now spawns a TON more adds. Recommend killing boombots as much as possible, but it still gets pretty hectic.

Also, the old trick of tanking him on one side of the room to eliminate the adds from those piles does NOT work. Probably want to tank him in the middle of the room.

It is amazing how fast your raid realizes they screwed up by tanking him on a wall once the heart drops now, but I would like to expand on what was said above:

The adds now spawn in greater numbers. At one point I believe I saw at least 50 scrapbots, 10 bomb bots, and 6 pumellers in one heart phase (25 man). Using the bomb bots to destroy as many of the adds as possible is now almost a must.
I also noticed some new raid damage being done as I was melee dpsing behind XT during the first portion of the fight. This is aside from the light/gravity bombs and the tantrum. Seemed to me that he inflicted a shockwave blast to those within about 30 yards of his left hand.
If you plan on tanking him in the middle on the stairs, it is possible to get a tank into position on top of the stairs before actually pulling. To do so, mount up and when he gets to the left or right wall, go to the opposite side and ride up the stairs. Keep in mind though that if you normally have a hunter pulling XT with misdirect, there is a very good chance that it will fail because the tank is out of line of sight or is out of range. In this case we found it easier to just have the tank taunt the boss when he got back to the center.
In 25 man we had 2 healers join the tank at the top of the stairs. There is plenty of room to spread out 20 yards at the top of those stairs and still be within range of the MT. Although this is probably not the best position for the healers if you plan on doing hard mode due to the spawn of void zones and life sparks.

Last night we did the 10 man hard mode, and in all honesty the massive waves of scrapbots and boombots were really not an issue if you hit them properly. See, if you get a few bomb bots close together (like when they spawn), you can detonate one and they chain detonate, destroying EVERYTHING around them, including the 20+ scrapbots that spawned too and heavily damaging any pummelers near them. At first the waves look daunting but all it takes are one or two well placed explosions to take them all out :).

Also, another thing: If you're doing the hard mode don't worry if you don't get ALL of the scrapbots at the beginning; XT's at full health so there's no need to fret if you see the "XT eats a scrapbot!" raid warning.

OK, so a couple questions here. My guild did this fight for the 3rd time last night and the encounter was much more difficult from our first 3 times in there. We had a ton more adds spawning than our previous times through and adds were still spawning from the piles around the room after the boss re-entered phase 1. Is this supposed to be happening?

I noticed someone mentioning tanking the boss on top of one of the piles and he wouldn't spawn adds from that pile. Is that accurate?

He has 7.2 million HP on Heroic mode. If you have 6 DPS with you, you probably need to restructure your raid, unless they can each manage roughly 20,000 DPS (it's 40,000 DPS per person, but the heart takes double damage).

Fail.

You used the health for the 25-man encounter, but only account for 6 dps in the raid. Unless you're only bringing 10 people to the 25 man encounter (power to ya if you are, btw), those #'s don't help anyone.

On 10-Man, the heart has 1.8 million health. Assuming your raid has 6 dps, that's 300k damage per person, or 10k dps with the bonus, 5k dps normally. Much more reachable.

On 25 Man, the heart has 7.2 million health. Assuming your raid has 18 dps, that's 400k damage per person, or 13.3k dps with the bonus, 6.6k dps normally.

As of Cataclysm, XT's hard mode is quite difficult for a level 85 raid due to Tantrum reducing everyone by 80% health.

Healing everyone back to full after ever tantrum is very taxing on healers' mana and it's very difficult to keep up long enough to bring him down.

As of Cataclysm it is possible to two man XT-002 normal mode on 10 player.

Me and a guildy just completed the encounter as a Resto Shaman and a Fury Warrior.

Took us like 5 tries but we finally succeeded! We just did the fight normally until the first heart which we used everything on. We got the heart down to about 45% health which brought XT to about 52% health.

He almost immediately went into another heart mode which he emerged with 35% (no cooldowns this time)

After a grueling battle we brought him into another heart mode which he emerged with a mere 8% health. Moments later he went down!

Soloed as a 85 Blood DK .. extremely painfull combat .took me well over 20attemps to understand certain mechanics.

Tips :

Pref DPS gear over tank gear , in tank you'll be hardly able to catch an enrage timer
Priority during heart phase is: heart (till 80%hp) then switching to scraps (1-2packs with glyphed DaD) rest i cleaved with HS
Use UP with VB during Tympatic to get you back up

Important note: if you have nitro boost on your belt as an eng , malfunction resets the combat so use only as a measure of last resort to avoid scraps healing bot

Pretty tough solo for a Blood DK as of 4.2. I'm at 366 ilvl in an expertise and hit set capped against level 82s, and I just barely managed to squeak in a kill at 9 minutes, 50 seconds. That was with everything I had: strength flask, drums, Raise Dead, ERW, and DRW used on cooldown, and Army to start. Here's a few tips of my own.

For those unfamiliar with Ulduar, don't forget the trash packs to either side just as you come into the room.
With such a tight enrage timer for the soloer, putting a good chunk of damage into the heart and destroying the scrapbots is essential. Note that destroying the bomb will one-shot scrapbots nearby. You can use Death Grip to reposition the bomb accordingly.
If possible, save Lichborne or IBF for Tantrums. These will hit you hard.

Just solo'd HM a few minutes ago as a Blood DK and I have to say it's more of a DPS check than anything (by far). I did this with a 391 il, full dps gear except my 2 set t12. I ended the fight at 30k dps.

I was barely able to kill the heart in time, I had to pop army, raise dead, Dancing Rune Weapon, Empower Rune Weapon, and throw out a Crystal Yield in order to do enough damage. As soon as the heart was dead it was pretty easy. The boss doesn't do much different in heroic mode except hit harder and spawn sparks with around 50k hp which deal a small amount of damage. Void zones don't apply when you're soloing this.

Also, since no one has mentioned it, if you AMS right before tantrum hits it will only deal 2.5% of your hp or so per second instead of the usual 10%. With Charred Glyph you only take one or two 10% hp ticks.

Soloed this one in 381 dps gear, wasn't a problem at all, but tried earlier in 351 and got destroyed, lol, just a gearcheck.

About the comment that if you ams the trantum you don't get hit for the first seconds, I tried a few times and doesn't seem true, the damage is physical also; will check again next week, but really seems like you still get all damage.

At 381 gear it's just about healing through trantums, his melee hits are all absorbed\healed.

Used vampiric blood\icebound fortitude on trantums, and ignored adds completely: DRW, ERW and nuke heart, it will take so much damage that the little heal he gets is not important at all.

At 392 dps gear I was trying the hardmode yesterday, also used a 300 strength flask, got heart to 94k on best attempt... WTB gurthalak raid finder, which sure does more damage than my 397 pvp when tentacles spawn.

I decided to go on with the fight instead of wiping on purpose again, after using all cds and failing for 94k at destroying the heart and at least I got the speed kill achievement (195 sec boss dead), still had 15 sec or so.

Also 3-manned the 25-man version, was much more challenging than soloing 10; first I tried with my arms warrior, around 392 item level, with a holy paladin with around 387 and a survival hunter with 385 or so; got the boss to 69k when we wiped, out of over 22 millions total, still had 30 sec before enrage.

What's harder is, adds have way more hp and deal more damage, the trantum still hits the same like on 10, but the melee hits are double (talking about 24-27k vs 12k or so on my warrior, 25 man vs 10 man), so really intensive with only 1 healer.

The following day, after we tried again 3-man and still wiped, with a fire mage with around 391 item level in place of the hunter, I got tired and used my dk in dps gear, 389 item level; on 25 I cannot outheal the boss completely even on my dk unless I use tank gear, but much more selfheal than an arms warrior, so killed the boss with 20-25 sec left to enrage. Ignored adds completely, just taunted them, certainly can't lose seconds of dps time on the boss with a so tight enrage.

Solo'ed as a 396 enhance shaman. The key is surviving to the first heart phase. Pop SR, use all MW on heals, pop wolves (with 4pT13) to heal up when low.

Once you reach the heart phase you're in the clear. Burn the heart and she'll keep going back to the phase until dead. Ignore the adds. The heals they give is negligible and the big ones don't do significant damage.

At level 85, XT is a very simply fight. The only mechanic that needs to be watched out for is Tympanic Tantrum because it will reduce everyone to 20% of their full health no matter what level they are. However, this can be mitigated with defensive abilities such as Feint.

The boss will still expose his heart at 75%, 50%, and 25% health or the heart can be easily killed and trigger Hard Mode for Heartbreaker (10 player).

Boss is tanked by a Voidlord. Watch out for Tympanic Tantrum which deals damage equal to 10% of your maximum health every 1 sec for 8 sec. You can reduce the damage taken by poping up defensive cooldowns. Before every Tympanic Tantrum you must be healed to maximum HP. At 75% of maximum health, he will show his heart that you have to destroy. After the destruction of his heart Boss goes to a Hard Mode and heals himself to the full. Remember to kill the remaining adds. During Hard Mode watch out for Tympanic Tantrum, don't stand too close to Voidlord with Gravity Bomb debuff and kill Life Sparks. Good Luck and Have Fun!

Solo'd 10M Normal as a 90 Fury Warrior with a mixture of MoP Heroic and Contender's gear.

Strat was fairly simple, very similar to what we did on farming runs in Wrath:

--Burnt him down as fast as possible until the first heart phase - Recklessness and Bloodbath.
--Knocked the heart down to ~500k and then took care of adds (Some scrapbots got in every now and then).
--As soon as the heart was back up, he did his emote of "I'm so tired" and immediately dropped into the heart phase again.

Just simply repeated the the drop to ~500k on the heart and he died with no further conflict, or need of Die by the Sword.

Luckily, he dropped the item I wanted for Transmog in my first go.

Just soloed XT hardmode 10 man in starter (450 ilvl) gear as a BM hunter. Bring a spirit beast, kill the adds as they come, and use deterrence on tantrums. Took about 7 minutes.

25m Normal soloed by a Ret Pally, 487 ilvl. 4 piece tier + SW, used seal of insight most of the fight. Unbreakable spirit helped a lot as it allowed 2 LoH's and 2 bubbles to be used during tantrums. Came in about 1-2min under enrage timer.

I've been soloing HM 10m XT as a ret pally at iL468 for a couple weeks since 5.2 (having forgotten that the dang Aesir's Edge only drops off of HM10m, bah!). I actually find it a bit easier than normal mode. Yes, he has more health and does more damage, but not having to deal with the adds anymore allows you to focus on staying alive while whittling down the boss.

Armory, Talents, Glyphs: Templar's Verdict, Mass Exorcism, Divine Protection

Key points I've observed:
1. pop enough CD's to burn the first 25% of the boss before he Tantrums and pop the rest to make sure you kill his heart on the first shot.
2. use Seal of Insight for the remainder of the fight to keep your health up.
3. Make sure you're at least above 80% health before he Tantrums and use a couple FoL's during the Tantrum to survive.
4. As others I've read have said, try not to let the Life Sparks get out of hand. More than a couple of these up become a liability during a Tantrum.
5. Just keep cutting away at him.. using WoG as needed, weaving in TVs as you can, and taking advantage of Divine Protection (glyphed) during Tantrums.

The 25 man hardmode is soloable for a prot warrior with good dps gear and dps focused talents/glyphs (Dragon Roar + Avatar, with Heavy Repercussion and Hold the Line glyphs), was in ilvl 516 with a 522 weapon. Should propably be doable for any tank spec with good dps gear though, as long as you can outlive the Tantrum.

First pulled the 2 trash packs near the boss for extra vengeance, only killing the small gnome like robots as to get rid of their defense barriers, then pulled boss and dpsed him down to 75%.

For the heart phase you really want to have a "/target Heart" macro, otherwise it can be hard to pick out the heart from between all the mobs around you. After that it's just a matter of popping all CDs (also used a Mogu Power potion) and hope you crit enough to burn the heart down in time.

Don't relax when you got the heart down, you've got less than 10 minutes to chew through his 22 million health pool. Try to stack the trash mobs you pulled behind you to prevent too many of them from dying to cleave attacks. Killed XT with 106k dps at exactly 10 minute mark, so very close. But really just a matter of good dps gear.

As of 6.0.3 XT-002's ability "Searing light" seems to have missed the squish bat dealing about 3k damage per tick.

EDIT 11/8/14: Ok, looks like it's been squished to a more reasonable 59 damage per tick.

If you're doing the Lucid Nightmare line, make sure you get the scroll before you come here to kill XT, or the lever won't appear.

Tympanic Tantrum - Damages everybody for 10% of their maximum hit points every 1 second, for 8 seconds. This is a channeled spell, which also dazes the affected targets for 2 seconds.

Searing Light - Causes the target to inflict 3,000 (25 Players: 3,500) damage to the target and other players within 10 yards every 1 second, for 9 seconds.

Gravity Bomb - Causes the target to spawn a Gravity Bomb after 9 seconds, which damages the target for 12,000 (25 Players: 15,000) and pulls other players within 12 yards and inflicts them with 11,700 to 12,300 (25 Players: 14,625 to 15,375) Shadow damage.
