Be sure to run when he emotes "Urgreth begins to emanate a power dark energy!" - the shadow barrages do about 35k-40k every second. Using Titanic Surge when he starts channeling Dark Barrage is probably the best time to use it. Other than that, it's pretty straight forward - just remember to heal yourself whenever you dip below 50%.

The easiest way I found was when he does his"Urgreth begins to emanate a power dark energy!" spell was to run away, when he finishes casting it just run back in. After he was under 50% healed up and finished him off, pretty easy all in all.

okay so dont tell peope 'its easy if you know what you are doing'... Give them a strategy to do it.

I don't remember how I did it but came here looking for advice to give a friend whose doing it. And this is mostly unhelpful except for a couple things.

1. Run when he casts the shadow/dark energy thing... you get the warning "Urgreth begins to emanate a power dark energy!"

2. heal up when you get him to about 50%.

DO NOT USE THE MANA Regen. It makes you way to vulnerable. You need to get a fresh ride or make sure your mana is full before you start this one.

I'll update when friend finally gets him down.

Here is what I do. Just use the Colossal Strike... no Cataclysm if possible (only use if a bunch of scourge attack and you have 15,000 or more mana -- it takes 10,000 to use the heal!).

Run when you get warning, "Urgreth begins to emanate a power dark energy!"

About halfway through his cast, stop, heal, and then hit the mana regen... let that go until he gets near you (don't let him hit you with that running because it's 400% damage!).

That should set you up to do the whole process over and over again until he's dead.

I colossal strike kited him down the avalanche, cataclysmed any adds right before I left the zone, was booted out of the etimidian, continued kiting him as a druid, took him to Frenzyheart Hill, allowed him to get into melee with me, he hit me with one autoattack for 5k or so and began to Channel, I got out of his range, and he wiped out the entire village.

Serves those damned puppy-men for enslaving me...

This guy definitely have me baffled.

I used my big blast only once between his blasts.
Running away when the message appears is correct. Sometimes I would get away without getting hit at all.
As soon as I was out of his blast range, I would mana-up and then heal. And then repeat the process.

Definitely do not let him hit you while you are using the mana regen. Moving a little would stop that spell. Then I would heal.

One time I healed before using the mana regen. But the other times I didn't have enough to heal. So I did it after the mana regen.

I too had lots of trouble with Urgreth

Until that is I realised one thing : He can't hit you with his AOE if you're on the ledge below him.

I gave it a go : I would start off Colossal Strike to pull him. Then I would position him so that when I strafted left I would fall off the cliff.

I would keep spamming Colossal Strike and when he started doing his AOE shadow thingy I would leap off the cliff. While he wasted his time running down I would pop my evo and heal then run up to meet him. You don't want him to get too far away from you or take too long to run down as I've had him reset when he's too far from me

Wash , rinse repeat

It's actually very easy to kill him, no healing, and mana to spare at the end of the fight: Kite him with Colossal Strike around the ledge, back and forth, keeping just outside of his reach, and doing quick spin, hit, spin moves to keep moving in the direction you want.
There's more than enough room to spare even for the slowest-minded of players (read: me) to pull the spin succesfully, as his reach is far smaller than that of the Etymidian's Colossal Strike.

OK, with all the "ooh he was so easy I nailed him and you all suck" comments, I thought I'd post something actually useful about how to fight him:

Basically you will approach him from behind, thus the ledge he's leaning on would be straight ahead as you fight. just make sure you're one step away from it. When he starts casting dark energy just step forward (you might even jump forward) and over the ledge to the lower level.. Then as soon as you land (assuming you don't actually land on Bythius' head), cast Titanic Surge, no matter if there's minions pounding on you, just cast it. As he approaches watch the cast bar, if it's not done yet by the time he's in melee range interrupt it by casting Reconstruction then Cataclysm to get rid of pesky adds, and carry on fighting him. You'll probably have to do this again before he dies (but since theres no ledge now, just run out of range and click Titanic Surge and so forth)..

He is a buggy quest mob, very nasty.
Your Titan you control should be able to be used like a paladin, it has bubble,heal, mana regen, spell AOr & melee hit, but NO
As soon as you bubble to absorb the 2 x massive spells attacks Urgreth does he bugs out and goes back to full health and stops attacking you, making the bubble-heal use of your titan to be almost a complete waste of time, thanks bliz.

Well, I tried the whole "Colossal-Strike-Jump-off-ledge-when-he-starts-emanating" method, and I just kept losing aggro on him and then i'd have to start over.

so instead of jumping off the ledge, once i started beating on him, i kept running backwards, spamming 1. once i got near the end of either side of the ledge, i'd strafe and make a u-turn and keep pounding on him. eventually he'd start with the emanating thing, and i'd just keep backing up to a safe distance and then hit titanic surge.

once he stopped emanating, i cast reconstruction and just repeated the cycle.
and it worked! :)

just thought i should say 2 things 1 most epic quest ever and 2 i was having problems with this guy it was glitched so my evocate would not go away apon walking so i was trying to finish off a 10% health urgeth with a 5% titan weopeon so my entmyidan died and urg had 5% health left so being a 80 prot warrior i fought him hand to hand i put up shield block and starded using a sunder armor move that dose about 1k damage and i shield bashed him when he started channeling dark energy and then a ton of mobs respawned and i had to shockwave i beat him took out the etmidyan again and owned the last 7 scourge i needed

OMG...This was way easy, just keyboard walk around him and he's so dumb he just kept chasing me and not casting his AOE. Just keep backing away from him, spam your cleave attack, make sure you're attacking him normally (right click him to make sure) and maybe use your aoe once if things look close and he should go down easy.

Okay, here's what I finally had to do to kill him. Come at him from his right side and pull him backwards. Make sure all the ads nearby are dead and you've mana'ed up again before you pull. Then just attack him (1) until he starts to channel his AOE. Run through him until you think you're out of range, or he stops channeling. Do your lightning thing to kill any adds nearby, heal up, and mana until he comes close to you. I had a problem that if I mana'ed too long, I'd lose aggro - so make sure you're ready to hit him when he comes to you. You can stop the mana channeling just by moving.

Attack him (1) again until he starts channeling and again run right through him. You should end up about where you started then. If there are adds spawned, then just repeat the lightning thing, heal up, and then mana. You should be running back and forth between two spots about equal distance from where he spawns. Any further on either side and you'll get a lot more adds to deal with as they run down the mountain. If you think you're gonna die, just bubble and try again. Trips to and from the gy get pricey quickly.

Last tip- level really doesn't matter for this one.

Can this guy be kited cuz it would look badass to watch a giant storm giant in wintergarde keep 1shotting lvl 80s with his AOE.

Save your gold (lower your repair bill) if you die a lot, fight this one naked, the giant you ride takes the damage, not you.

Ok if you jump off the cliff be prepared to get hit at least once and he will just run down after you fairly fast so you will have to mana up pretty fast and heal. if you try to run from him once he starts casting his aoe then you will still get hit once or twice. that is all the help I can give. I have tried all the tactics described here and not a one has worked.

Solo'd as a lvl 80 Prot paladin. My strategy was to stand as far away from him as possible (where I could attack him but he wouldn't move closer to me), then just tank him down like a regular mob. When he starts his cast IMMEDIATELY run away. Should you get hit heal yourself while he is still casting then move back in. Repeat until he is down.
I was using Shadow Resistance Aura, Seal of Wisdom, and Judgement of Light. As long as you can avoid his aoe and heal yourself if you do get hit, you should be just fine.
He drops no loot.
