Currently, this guy hits really hard. With Brann as tank (lvl 61) it's hard to keep his health up with the damage from this dog. Hits me really hard as well.
Might be a tuning thing, and higher level Brann will help. Compared to the rest of the delve (at level 8) it seems like a steep difficulty curve.

Hits too hard! even delve level 7 bran gets 3 shot by the boss, also boss keeps spawning adds like every 30 seconds that keep leaping on you and doing considerable damage. I could see a tank spec being able to just head smash through this, every other class will be having a bad time here.

Yep, tank Brann is useless after they made him like paper. Healer Brann with Pinged Augment Chip and Overdrive Pylon I was able to kill this guy in tier 8. Brann is lvl 64 and I am ilvl 632 Shadow Priest.

just did this on t11 as devestation evoker with healing brann (overdrive pylon and mechosoar egg), basically just had to lust, pot, use def and self heal off cd, hit the boss as hard as possible and only move from the adds fear and to collect health pots from brann (and pray he throws them out in time). Overall the boss did 56million dmg to me over 1min 32 seconds, I have 7.5mill hp, so yeah it was tough :P think I will skip this delve on alts today.

Just completed T8 with 630 ilvl BM Hunter with Brann healing and died the on the first attempt due to adds and bad RNG on healing pots from Brann. Second attempt I positioned myself on the edge of the cliff where you jump up from the mushroom sent pet to attack to keep as much distance from myself and the boss and managed to avoid being tagged by the adds when they spawned for most of the fight. Still requires luck from healing pots. Also used the Noggenfogger Utlimate Deluxe trinket @ ilvl 645 which accounted for nearly 9M dmg. Hard fight compared to the rest of the delve which is trivial.

I killed this boss today with my monk 544 and I discovered something useful, as I was running away I jumped to the platform below to reset the fight BUT it didn't reset (the boss never reached the edge because Brann had slowed it I guess) while I was down there I haled up myself, I had like 5 seconds and then I used the mushroom to jump back to the boss.
The curios I used are:

Utility: Overdrive Pylon

T11 Delve with 650 mage, he drops Brann rather quickly and even pumping him I run out of defensives before he dies. He frequently does attack combos for 5M damage in 0.1s on me.

Tier 8 with a 630 Windwalker Monk and Brann healing, focused on adds and was able to complete it with little problem.

Yeah, I don't think they really thought through a boss summoning adds like every 30 seconds when the adds themselves have a ^&*! ton of HP.

Not sure who thought it'd be a good idea to make a boss that's incredibly spongey, summons unlimited adds that are also spongey, and then let the adds spam AoE fears.

0/10 design, send it back to the drawing board.

I just did this as a 639 ret pally. T11. Bram (LVL 58) as healer with the Mechasaur EZ-Build Kit and the Pacifist Rig. I wiped once and swapped to the Pacifist Rig to live through adds and AOE them down. It works, but I used Divine Protection whenever it was up, then bubble, LOH, and pots fast. Dodge the bleed, and it's not so bad. If one bleed hits you, you'll probably be ok. 2 bleeds, you're probably going down.

Screw everything about this dog...

I just did this fight as a T11 Shadow Priest, Ilvl 639, with Healer Brann, equipped with Combat Curio (Pocket Factory) and Utility Curio (Pacifist Rig).

I wiped on him 3 times, so I was down to my final life, and I found a very strange mechanic... You can Mind Control the Spawns... yes, the BEASTS can be Mind Controlled, and the hit hard. So the strat was to Mind Control one of the two adds, have that kill the OTHER add, all while I am running around like a idiot, speed boosting, running over pots, fading, everything.

This is dumb, and super overtuned, but I am super glad that I didn't waste 20-25 minutes clearing the Delve to just get blocked by this stupid dog.

I hope this helps some other priest who may be struggle-bussing against this puppy.

Completed T11 tonight as a 630 Diabolist Demonology Warlock, level 60 healer Brann
Used Mechasaur EZ-Build Kit (Rank 3/4) and Kaja'cola Carrier (Rank 1/4) - I got 4% Mastery from a campfire 6-pack and figured that would be better than 5% damage for 20 sec during a long fight.

Got it on my second try - but only AFTER going back to kill the Treasure Wraith. It dropped both Essence of Life and Shard of Porcelain Arrowhead which hard-carried my undergeared ass.

Anyway, my strat was to pull Maulspike to the ledge for a quick escape if needed, group up, and focus ads ASAP. Saved CDs and trinkets for ads (same as you would for Zekvir's eggs). Made sure to try my best to space out Brann's heals. Interrupted the self-buff if/when I could. I'm not sure what the ads' AoE do - I assume fear - but the pounce does minimal-to-no damage and whatever the AoE does, doesn't seem to affect Brann or pets. Brann went down once, but I still had 2 active floor pots so I ran over them to keep my Felguard up and revived Brann immediately.

Still, I don't recommend farming this version of Fungal Folly until later in the season, when we're better geared and/or the boss gets a slight nerf. T11 Waxface is still probably worse, but Maulspike is up there.

Took me many tries, but i finished it solo as an Arms warrior on Delve 8 with ilevel 621.

Things that worked:
* pop all CDs at start to take him down to 65%-80% at the start
* Focus on killing adds first until he's under 20%
* Running away when he summons adds, and then charging one of the adds and focusing one down
* speccing into shockwave and stormbolt to get that extra bit of control to stop a fear or lock an add down
* Adds tend to fear/pounce on different cycles so take advantage of that to separate them so you can control them
* Jumping off the edge and letting bran heal you up, he will despawn if you take too long to heal up
* save a heal pot for when he's under 30% so you can get back faster
* When he's under 20%, then use ledge and separation tactics to focus on and DPS down boss

I couldn't do it on my holy priest/brann tank combo with a different combination of curios. ilevel 628/brann 57

I went back with my boomkin/brann heals and did it on 2nd try. It was just drop trees on CD, Barkskin, shapeshift to bear for frenzied regeneration, mass entangle adds on CD, wild charge/run to healing pots, dot when anything is up. At this point I don't think my curios made any difference, it was just trying to survive the entire fight, and do damage when trees were up. ilevel 629/brann 57

This was pretty rough - I thought after getting wiped as shadow a few times I'd try healing. Was doing over 1 million hps and was making it, but then ran out of mana at like 2%.

I'm pretty sure a regular mage would be easier to heal as bran as a tank - I learned my lesson. I didn't manage to do it after using up all my lives I left.

Probably doable if I was a tad more skilled or just slightly more lucky.

15-20 min. spend clearing the Delve at tier 10 on a 633 Fire Mage.
30 min. spend wiping on this overtuned ^&*!. Ended up killing him by abusing the ledge mixed with fire's DOT damage.

Stupidly overtuned compared to the rest of the delve.
Also neither the adds nor the corpses of the adds despawn between attempts, so by attempt 5 the arena was covered in hyena corpses.... GG Blizz.

643 retpal/T11 delv.
Bran as a healer and the main thing is to take Pacifist Rig, I have it 3 grad. During the fight poked 2 times and the dogs are destroyed quite easily.
Didn't have to run away from the platform.

T11 As 648 Windwalker, it was hard (I know I'm not a great player).

When I was at my last life in the delve, I went back to kill the treasure wraith and get one more chest.

I still had to use all Defensives (including ring of peace to keep one set of adds away), and it still was hard for me. I think I was able to roll away from a couple of the rip and tears, but am not sure. Rip and Tear was 1/3 of my total damage taken for the fight.

Overall DPS was 1.5 M/s for me, 200K for Bran as heals.
Overall DPS taken was 650 K/s

Curios: Reverse Engineered Goblin Death bomb for the heal and CC, and Bioprinter. I only have green level Pacifist Rig. May have made it easier if I had higher level Pacifist rig and equipped it.

Yeah, !@#$ this guy. Waste of an hour of my life. What makes it worse is he is apparently immune to every CC in the world. Way overtuned, especially for solo.

Attempted this boss at T11 on my 645 Frost Mage with healer bran (Bio-Print & Foot Bombs). Failed miserably twice. Switched Brann to DPS (Mechasaur & Pacifist Rig) and made Maulspike my biotch in 30 seconds by tunneling him and ignoring the adds.

Hope this is helpful for any of my fellow mages ready to rip their hair out!

T11 - 654 Destro Lock (level 64 Brann). After first failed attempt due to internet dropping out (I think I was a gonner anyway), I came here to find answers for this gnarly woofy dog.

Switched healer Brann's talents to Mechasaur EZ-Build Kit Rank 4, and Pacifist Rig Rank 2. Threw everything I had at boss and pretty much ignored adds, throwing in the occasional Channel Demonfire and Rain of Fire, and he went down relatively quickly and without me taking too much damage.

Pretty much just stood my ground, let my smurf do all the tanking, just dodging the occasional nasty and grabbing Brann's pots as needed.

Today was my first time in this version of the folly. My first character I took was Affliction Warlock. Easy enough but the fight took way too long as even at 1.5 million DPS it was barely damaging it. The adds ended up not being too much of an issue as I keep a seed on the boss the entire time. My second character was arcane mage. I used my normal boss attack and hit all my CDs at the same time, all my trinkets and Time warp. Even at almost 3 million DPS burst I could not damage the boss enough to keep up with the adds. Used all my croud controls to freeze adds in place but just not enough. I tried jumping down but it just reset the boss.

It's a rough right but doable, just keep kiting and have brann heal. Back peddle the entire way without stopping unless you have to (sorry casters, don't have answer for you). Solo'd t11 on ilvl 621 veng dh.

I was starting to bang my head against this as a devastation evoker with tank Bran. I found that you can use the big rock to dance around and onto as a means to kite the boss when Bran is down. I got him down just after Bran died the second time (I was doing rock kiting when Bran was down the first time).

Maulspike is now a boss in the Sidestreet Sluice Swarming Vermin story, and he's as annoying as ever. Melee hits a mail user for 1½ million damage, and both adds do similar damage. G effing G Blizzard.

Okay, so I just beat this guy as a 676 protection paladin. That said, I would rather abandon this delve than go through that fight again.

While the AoE fears are annoying, they have one weakness: They are not instant-cast. You can see the range of the cast as a purple flickering circle around the add, so you can move away before the fear hits you. Basically, as long as I kept kiting, I could stay away from this spell about 90% of the time. I used a mixture of Judgment, Consecration, Avenger's Shield and Sacred Weapon to bring him down at range, and Word of Glory when I was low on health. There was no point in trying to burn down the adds. He would just summon more.

Also, stay away from the cliff. The adds can fear you off of it, possibly causing you to die from fall damage.

There are still some insane damage spikes even if you have a shield and plate armor, so keep an eye on where Brann drops his health potions, and make sure you can activate your damage mitigation abilities quickly. Don't pop them all at once. Spread them out. Not gonna lie, it was pretty dicey at times.

I don't know what advice to give other classes. The fight was relatively manageable for me because all the abilities I needed were instant-cast.

The fight is just a PITA, and Blizzard has surely gotten a lot of complaints about it, yet it's still present in the season 3 delves of TWW.

This seems *extremely* bugged for pet classes at the moment. The spawned dogs hit my Felguard for about 50% HP *each swing*, and there's 2 of them at a time. That's without the shout buff, by the way.

690 Demo Lock, breezing through other delves. This boss just completely obliterates my pet and there's not much I can really do about it.

I did it 3 times earlier today on tank specs and it was a total joke. They melee my pet for ~10x what my tanks were hit for.

Maulspike turned up in Side Street Sluice as the last boss, but this boss wiped me out in Fungal Folly on my every attempt. However, in Side Street Sluice somebody on here mentioned to target Maulspike's adds as they do loads of damage. They're easily killed off and that is the important thing, AOE them and they're gone giving you a chance to concentrate on Maulspike. This tactic worked for me, plus keep moving away from Maulspike's bite

I'm a ilvl 694 Destruction Warlock with a level 86 healer Brann using 4/4 Hatarang and 2/4 Temporal Decelerator Crystal.

In T11 Fungal Folly, it was a long fight, but pretty easy. I used the cliff and mushroom every time my Voidwalker dies to summon it back (you'll have blown your Fel Domination CD). I also always keep Havoc on Maulspike when fighting the adds so Maulspike keeps getting damaged.

I'm unable to figure out how to beat it in T11 Sidestreet Sluice. There's just not enough time for me to get my Voidwalker back before Maulspike kills me. Fear and Shadowfury doesn't work on it. It's super difficult to try and keep my Voidwalker healed when Maulspike does his thing that kills it instantly.

it might just be an ilvl thing than an overtune thing, seeing how T11 is designed for 697+ and there's quite a difference between just three ilvl. I'll try Maulspike again in 3 ilvls and report back.

The only way I could beat this thing was to change my spec to prot warrior. I died 4 times as an arms warrior to "Rip and Tear" and as a prot warrior (with the help of Ignore Pain), it was successful on my first try.

As a 675 Afflic Lock beat him in Fungal Folly 2nd try. Kept wither and agony up on adds used Vile Taint on CD and Seed of Corruption when adds were called , keeping DOT's on Maulspike , healing Voidwalker as much as possible, used Brann as heals (lvl92) healed up just before summoning void, he died about 4 times.

Every time this boss spawns in after spending so long getting to the end... I just don't even bother engaging him anymore. So disheartening.

Edit: So I decided to swap bran out form tank to healer... with hatarang and battered aegis. All but melted the dog.

Tried a few times on recently dinged lvl 80 ilvl 577 Holy Paladin. Managed to get him down to about half health most times before being defeated.

Came here and read the comments, and decided it would be impossible for this character until Midnight or The Last Titan are out.

If you see this version of Fungal Folly, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. You can waste a lot of time trying to do this. A lot.

My win: put Brann on healing and once the big puppies start chasing you run circles around the boulder, pick up Brann's potions whenever you can.

I'm a moonkin druid so I just did instant-cast spells as I ran in circles, and then dropped my treants every cooldown to get a short break and throw some other spells.

People whine but this boss has a certain philosophy that is common in raids and if you understand it it becomes eaiser. It's basically a DPS race because if you start using slow defensives then it usually makes you run out of them and you run out of ways to resurrect your tank. So basically you have to focus on maximum dps and use defensives only as a side; eg I had an arcane mage but it wasn't possible by only resurrecting brann; I had to maximize dps and then only when cooldowns were down I resurrected him once and then I only focused on dps and it was down without brann dying a 2nd time.
