If you're having trouble capturing this wild pet due to its self-destructing ability, "Explode," I recommend clicking the white flag button to surrender and forfeit the battle. As long as you haven't dealt any damage, it will return to the map, allowing you to start a new battle with a chance of it not having that ability. Usually, after the third surrender, it appears without "Explode," making it much easier to capture for your collection!

I finally come across one of these after hours of looking. Someone else came along, entered the battle before me, left the battle straight away and then killed it........

This can also show up as a backline pet. I found one after initiating battle with a Varmint MK II, and another from a cave crab. If it does have explode, you can also forfeit and re-initiate battle to change its abilities, even as a backline pet, as long as you haven't killed the main pet.

If this is a backline pet and has the Explode ability up, use abilities that do damage to all three pets and heals for your pets so by the time you have killed the other two and it comes in, it's already low enough hp to just capture.

I used my Terrible Turnip to heal with Inspiring Song and Sunlight to damage all pets, Weakening Blow when those were on CD or switch out to another pet for more heals. As long as the first two pets are uncommon or common, it's cake.

I didn't know it had this ability, first time battling in undermine. Going around capturing the pets and found this one on the backline in rare! It blew itself up first move. WTF? Haven't found a rare since. I do have a lot of upgrades stashed away, but this was annoying to lose.

If you are seeking for the Purple Version you will struggle a bit.

Tips:
1) Try to find a Bombshell crab as a backline pet.
2) When you find one, prepare your battle team and start engaging and retreating it to reset the colour. (May take a while)
3) Use a heal team so you can recover them from retreat damage.
4) If he has the bombling suicide ability, you will face a tricky fight. Added a video showing how.
5) Before engaging him, damage him the most with with aoe, and spend at least 1 cage shot with a non-wanted pet.
6) If you followed all steps, you will grab one in no more than 30 min.
