Storykeeper Jaru says: After seeing his peoples' new home, Maruuk was at peace. The infections in his wounds took him, his spirit guided to the sky by his peoples' chanting. They took his name upon themselves.
Storykeeper Jaru says: Ancient clans of centaur fought and died, hungry for war and blood. Then rose Maruuk Thousandbones, the Slaughterer of the Endless, to cut through these invaders.
Storykeeper Jaru says: But the other clans were not sated by the demon blood. Maruuk was too strong a warrior to live. They spread rumors that his wounds left him too weak to lead, then sent assassins in the night to murder him in his sleep.
Storykeeper Jaru says: Her hope burned brightly but could not warm the cruel chill of a sudden winter storm. Her caravan was never recovered.
Storykeeper Jaru says: His partner, Teera, the Guidemother, took up her bow and slayed the assassins. She charged into the tents of the other clan leaders, claiming their cowardly heads, as they were, in turn, too weak to lead.
Storykeeper Jaru says: Merithra, daughter of Ysera, flew to fight the centaur. And Teera met her bravely in battle.
Storykeeper Jaru says: Neither could fully vanquish the other, and when they were utterly exhausted and vulnerable, the proto-dragons struck.
Storykeeper Jaru says: Perhaps the elements have finally seen fit to set her free. I will go see to her.
Storykeeper Jaru says: Sensing that the continuation of their conflict would lead to the demise of both green dragon and centaur, Merithra and Teera ended their fight and turned to battle the proto-dragons, together.
Storykeeper Jaru says: Teera, intent on protecting her people, slew any creature that threatened our villages. And soon, there was a great confrontation with the dragons.
Storykeeper Jaru says: Ten thousand years ago, the demons invaded our world. Through portals ripped through our reality, they marched. Endless. Unstoppable. Unyielding.
Storykeeper Jaru says: The Horn of Drusahl stands as a symbol of that vow, and the Maruuk centaur honorably uphold it to this day.
Storykeeper Jaru says: There is one such tale... Long ago, in times of strife between dragons, a Khanam Dochra in the mountains-- a favored daughter, heir to the Khanam, sought to lead her tribe to safety.
Storykeeper Jaru says: They traveled across Kalimdor in search of a new home. The wind seemed to bless them, traveling alongside them and guiding their hooves.
Storykeeper Jaru says: They vowed that the centaur would come to the aid of the green dragons when needed, and the green dragons would do the same for the Maruuk. No more would they hunt each other.
Storykeeper Jaru says: They walked for many moons before arriving in our blessed plains. Then, Ohn'ahra appeared before them, revealing the true form of their guide. She sang her song of a new beginning; a new home.
Storykeeper Jaru says: Time passed. Though the world sundered and the dragons left the isles, the centaur remained steadfast.
Storykeeper Jaru says: To Teera they turned for direction. She led with strength, never faltering. She led the centaur to solidify themselves as a strong force in these lands, striking a deal with the dragons herself.
Storykeeper Jaru says: When he arose for breath, he stood upon a pile of demon corpses one thousand strong, earning his name. He returned to his clan, limping and wounded, to heal.
Storykeeper Jaru says: When the centaur first arrived in the plains, the green dragons were hostile and territorial, and the centaur defended themselves with great ferocity.
Storykeeper Jaru says: With a great, powerful blow, Teera knocked Merithra out of the sky, and their fight raged across the grasslands, pushing up hills and hollowing riverbeds.
Storykeeper Jaru says: With the guidance of Teera, by the grace of Ohn'ahra, the Windmother, they harnessed the powers of their new home, creating a legacy that lasts to this day.
Storykeeper Jaru says: With the sun's rising, Teera exposed this treachery against Maruuk. Though her actions deemed just, she rejected the clans. She and Maruuk set off to forge a new path for the future. Behind them formed a new clan, inspired by their honor.
Storykeeper Jaru says: With their combined might, they destroyed the proto-dragons. And then, they met upon the hill named Drusahl. There, they made their pact.
