Third boss encounter of Coilfang: Underbog. He has hunterlike abilities and a pet bear that soley melees. He will aimed shots, melee, and has an AoE "frost nova" trap. His bear does not despawn when he dies.

The Swamplord is a lot like a hunter, and is a pretty straight forward fight. His bear has a significantly more amount of health then the Swamplord himself. The bear does pretty minimal damage. The Swamplord has 3 main abilities: Aimed Shot, Freezing Trap, and multi shot. The boss will periodically use an AoE Freezing Trap (disarmable by rogues) which will freeze the whole group while he charges up an Aimed Shot. Other then that Swamplord will constantly multi shot a random target, dealing 700-1.3k damage. This is an easy fight, tank the bear, kill the Swamplord.

One thing to note is Claw's movement speed is very slow. As a warlock without Curse of Exhaustion, I was able to kite him all the way back to the hole in the wall my party came from without taking a single hit. When I reached the end, I turned around and was still able to outrun him without taking much damage. Taking Claw out of range (or out of line of sight) of Swamplord also removes his ability to enrage.

Another thing to watch is that he'll do a powerful knockback. One of my groupmates got punted literally to the entrance of the instance. Try to stay near a wall so the same doesn't happen to you.

The pet can be kited, A hunter can do this without any major problems. our hunter even killed him after he had kited him for a while, guess he got bored or something :P

We did this with four people, a rogue (me), a shadow priest healing, a feral druid tanking, and an affliction warlock. I went ahead and took the advice in this thread and figured I'd kite him around, which went actually quite well. We downed this encounter with no issues. It's worth noting that he is *immune* to crippling poison and gouge and such, so my kiting wasn't quite as graceful as I'd initially hoped. With a combination of sprint, evasion, and the 6,000 HP I have at level 64, it worked out just fine though.

Another thing to note about this fight is that around the corner to the left is a pat (one Bog Lord) which will walk right up to the corner where you'll be fighting Musel'ek. My guild always kills the pat first so that we don't agro it while fighting the Swamplord.

The kiting method worked really well for us.

I kited the bear no problem (lvl 64 hunter) and they downed the boss. I feign death'd and then we brought the bear down to about 40% until he reveals that he is a druid and turns friendly.

This druid is the last person to the quest you get by the Coilfang Reservoir meeting stone.

Swamplord
Abilities:
1.) Multi-Shot: Much like the hunter skill. Just spread out so that only 1 person is hit at a time.
2.) Aimed-Shot: Much like the hunter skill. Priests should shield whoever he is getting ready to hit with aimed shot.
3.) Freezing Trap: AE stun. Can be resisted, but don't bother trying. Just keep everyone topped off because he likes to aimed shot after droping the trap.

Claw:
Melee: Rather weak. Pet tanking is easiest solution.
Abilities: Armor reducing roar. Just keep him tanked far enough away from everyone else (15yd or so)

Tactics: Send your main tank in while your off tank peals Claw away before Claw can get his roar off (very annoying to have on the tank). Kill Swamplord and then take down Claw. Healers just need to keep everyone topped off so nobody dies after a freezing trap.

A very effective strategy against the Claw is to keep him CCed at all time. Claw, as a bear, is a Beast, therefore druid's sleep (Hibernate) works fine on him. With the timer added in last patch (2.1) this works miracles.

Sleep the bear, kill the boss, continue with the bear.

Piece of cake with a druid in your team.

I have done heroic underbog like 10 times with friends mostly from the guild...I have 26,k armor and 15k health usually when I tank there.What I always do is tank both and have the rest of the party next to the bear...I have never encountered a single problem in this fight.

And FYI the Bog Lord that is next to him HAS to die before u try Musel'ek(it is also the most difficult part of the instance hands down)...

My 64 warlock attempted to fear the bear, and it was immune. That's not to say that the HUNTER version of fear (which is specifically designed for beasts) won't work, but a warlock fear he is apparently immune to on normal (non heroic).

His Knock Away power could use a nerf. He can knock someone all the way into the water from the ledge where you fight him, maybe even farther.

On the plus side, getting knocked off the ledge seems to remove you from combat; one time, our group's Paladin tank got knocked off the ledge, and after the rest of us died Musel'ek and Claw simply reset themselves instead of going after the tank.

just did a run in normal UB, wipe due to a patrol that wander in, killing the healer..

the strange thing is that, the route of his patrol seems to be a distant from the healer.. no wonder how the patrol can kill the healer..

Heroic was NOT soloable by a feral druid and probably not anyone else (pally bubble, maybe?). The bear's feral charge was hitting me 3-4 times in a row, essentially disabling me for ~8s. Added with the -80% armor debuff and you are taking a ton of damage with no way to pop out and heal. Also when being knocked all over the place by the bear he can knock you up a wall and evade bug. All around very annoying fight and not worth the time.

Do not play with the Bog Lords. They will beat you down.

I don't know if it's intended or not, but, been leveling a hunter alt and whenever he does his aimed shot on me, the game with get an intense lagspike/freeze, and when it unlags I'm hit with a 14k damage non-crit aimed shot.

Just soloed this guy on my 77 (mediocre geared) feral druid. I died the first time.

Second time I checked here, and used hibernate on the bear before starting, and backed up to a wall. Seemed to be working fine. Swamplord down to about 20% when hibernate wore off, and my life was still at 100%. Then Swamplord aimed shot hit (not crit) me for 10,000.

Reminder: this is not on heroic. So this is intended for level ~65 players, and I'm level 77.

So after that 10k aimed shot, he followed up with two 3k multishots, a 1k melee, and a 1k shoot. I popped a runic health potion, a 2k health trinket, and frenzied regen to survive. Also barkskinned his 1st aimed shot, but it got scrolled off so not sure what it did.

Once Swamplord was down, my life was going up (from crits) while fighting the bear. Thank goodness, since I only had about 2-3k health.

As with the hunter and DK above me, I'm wondering if this fight is bugged as of 3.1. I don't remember it being hard when I've done it in the past, and I really don't see how any level 65 could survive through ~20k damage in 2-3 GCDs. From the comments above, that ~20k would have been more like 30k on an appropriate-level tank.

On normal mode:
Musel'ek cast Hunter's Mark and then Aimed Shot on our druid healer (5.5k hp), killing her in one shot. The warrior tank tried using Shield Bash, Shield Slam, Concussion Blow, Taunt, Mocking Blow and Shockwave and was unable to interrupt the cast or get him to change his target. I Rebirthed the healer and he did it again later in the fight, one shotting her again. A very painful attack that fortunately didn't cause a wipe.

Claw was kept Hibernated easily.

The bog giant by the boss has a huge aggro radius, so even if you think you'll be safe it's best to take him out first anyway.

And the bear can charge you from any distance, from right on top of you to 30 yards or so (she needs to teach me that trick!).

Nothin' new here, a lot of mobs can cheat (because they're even 10% as important as players, or something) by charging from melee range. Other examples include Bloodlord Mandokir, those big wasps at the start of AQ20, Blackheart the Inciter and Kargath Bladefist.

on normal, he aimed shot my level 65 pally healer for 5870 non crit. one shot kill. lucky we had a shaman in the party. wasn't looking forward to run all the way back.

This guy should of been a Troll even the trolls of all Internet trolls to the fact that he Managed to Tame a druid somehow! In fact he could be some Demi God even! Maybe its Just Loky who had became a Troll for us Hunters after his banishment and now taunts us with his "Pet".
