Ha-Li is a rare elite new to 8.3 that only seems to spawn in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms during a Mogu assault (not the N'zoth assault).

It spawns east of the Ruins of Guo-Lai around 36.6, 37.6 and flies in an irregular, anticlockwise circle high above the ground. Without body pulling it, you can engage it in combat from the cliff at 36.9, 36.3, near where it spawns, or from the pillar at 31.8, 44.1.

Ha-Li has 4.58 million health, has a few abilities and hits hard on non-tanks.

It has a chance to drop Clutch of Ha-Li, which is a recolour of the Clutch of Ji-Kun mount from Throne of Thunder.

Drop rate of the mount and exact respawn time of the rare are currently unknown but I'm going to assume it's similar to the Arachnoid Harvester. I've killed it five times now on different days/characters and in various size groups and haven't seen a mount drop, so I'm assuming it's a rare drop. Once killed, I experienced respawn times of 37, 40, 39, 48 and 34 minutes, which is in line with the Mechagon mount rares.

Currently on the PTR, Ha-Li is tap-to-faction, even when war mode is off. Hopefully this will be fixed before the patch goes live.

Ha-Li spawns near 29,38 in Vale and patrols in a circle in the sky. She appears only during the Warring Clans assault and drops Clutch of Ha-Li.

If you want to check if you've killed Ha-Li today and don't use an addon for it, you can use the following macro, which contains all the mount-dropping rares of 8.3:

Note that for the sake of simplicity I've included all NPCs, even though some won't be up on any given week. You can either ignore them or delete them from the macros. You can also consolidate the NPCs you're interested in into fewer macros, but there is a character limit so you can't fit them all into one.

If you kill BFA rares for pets, toys and mounts across multiple toons and want a way to track that easily, I created a do-it-yourself edit for the fantastic SavedInstances addon that adds tracking for a bunch of them like Ha-Li, Rustfeather, or Corpse Eater among others. You can make these changes yourself with any text editor.

Add the following lines to the Quests.lua file in SavedInstances addon folder starting at approximately line 60 (in the "_specialQuests" array):

The folks who made the SavedInstances addon have a stated policy of not adding tons of individual rares to the addon, but in comments on their project site pointed out how you can do it. It's one of my top must-have addons, and I recommend if you're a collection farmer you get it.

Can anyone verify if multi-character tagging still works? 9.1 just hit and I tried tagging Ha-Li on 3 characters as I was the only one around. Killed him and did get one gray item in the mail on two of the characters (the one that finished the kill got full loot obviously). And my handy notes addon didn't list Ha-Li as killed on the two that got the single gray item in the mail. I waited around for another spawn and took the full kill and got the full loot but that leads me to believe the multi-tag didn't work.

Working macro, as of 9.2.7 for all the BfA assault mount rares. Tells you clearly if they have "Yes" or have not "No" been killed for the day, per character. Color coded for quick visual aid.

If you're going to camp it - most people actually land on top of a little mound area (some call it a small mountain but it's too small for any small mountain - that's misleading) at location: 37 34. You will know you are at the right place because on top of these mounds there are 4 Black Bengal Goats. There are 2 on the 2nd level (right and left side) and one on top of the entire mound area, and one at the very bottom level in front of the tree/orange bush.

Not sure about the actual timer - but have read it is between 30 minutes to an hour.
Apparently at this location you can actually body pull the mob when it spawns. if you miss it - the flight path isn't very big and you should be able to shoot it down pretty easily (think Time-Lost Proto Drake kill).

EDIT: I actually missed the kill while typing this out :) So I'll record the actual timer (for me) starting right now (5:24pm): 5:54 spawn time exactly and no mount :(

30-60m timer. i killed it, switch to a different character, and waited. it took around about 45 mins to spawn again. so literally any ware between 30-60mins.
