okay and how do you catch it? the tooltip suggests violence, and i sadly killed the mom and dad and i still can't enter a pet battle to catch the fawn.

Saw two running with a stag and doe just east of Grove of Cenarius in Val'sharah. Following the tool tips advice I killed the parents. The pets we're indeed battle pets, they had the green icon above their heads. After I killed the parents I hovered over them and there wasn't an icon on the cursor to indicate I could battle them. Clicking on them didn't initiate a pet battle.

However
While moving my toon I accidentally double-clicked on one and was able to enter a pet battle and tame it. My husband was able to double-click and battle/tame it as well.

You don't need to kill the parents to click these fawns. They may not be interactable with a right-click (I.E. you can't shoot them) but you can left-click them just fine, thus starting a normal pet battle.

They sometimes spawn in groups of two or three along with their parentsw; if you see this, by battling the kids and leaving just one up, the other two (or one) will respawn after a time as guaranteed battle pets, thus letting you farm a group forever if you want your rare.

I got this pet today. As others have said, it can be found following around its parents. In my case there were 2 fawns following a stag and a doe and both fawns could be engaged in battle.

I got lucky and captured a rare P/P breed that has level 25 stats of 1400 health, 325 power and 260 speed.To the best of my knowledge this is the first fawn that can spawn in a P/P breed (not sure about the Rescued Fawn).

I saw these all over Val'sharah with "Track Pets" but was unable to right-click on them to initiate a pet batte. However, I was able to double left-click to initiate a pet battle.

Tamed one of these little guys this morning. Tried left clicking, nothing happened. Right clicked and the pet battle started.

Several spawned without parents in Lorlathil, Val'sharah. Still glitched to show a sword when mousing over, but right clicking did start a pet battle. Both I found were Common. One spammed tranquility while the other spammed Nature's Ward. Accidentally crit the tranquility one and used a mechanical pet on the Nature's Ward one when it had the nature debuff to make the attack weak since my Terrible Turnip isn't 25 yet.

still bugged to the left click - had to right click to start pet battle even tho the little paw icon wouldn't show up

I spotted 3 fawns near a mother and father at 57.9 65.8. Of the three, one was grey, one was white, and one was rare. I followed the recommendations of others and double left-clicked the fawn to engage in a pet battle.
