BFF Report - Ep 67 - Spiral Knights
Spiral Knights is a recently released java based hack n' slash/dungeon crawler from Three Rings and SEGA. Last time I played a SEGA game was.. a while ago. Initially, I was a bit of a skeptic getting into Spiral Knights, but now.. pfftt I'm still a skeptic, no game is going to change that :P

BFF Report - Mass Effect 2 - The Arrival DLC
I don't know about you guys, but I am a huge fan of the Mass Effect IP.. I even own a book that I've read at least 37% of, and I never read books! However, this newest DLC, which coincidentally is also the last, kinda makes me go :|
Have any of you tried it? What are you thoughts on this compared to the previous DLC?

BFF Report - DarkSpore
I'm sure a bunch of you have played Spore at some point in the past, or at the very least, seen videos/previews of it. Well, that same company has thrown down their own DotA/Diablo clone... or did they?

BFF Report - Gods and Heroes - WoW Killer?
Okay, maybe not..
Gods and Heroes is a Roman Mythology based MMORPG, complete with bath houses, floating heads and all. The game is currently in beta and doesn't have an announced release date, but I'm sure it'll be sometime late summer... assuming you're looking to fill that void in your gaming regimen that's lacking in SPPPARRTTAAAAA!!!
Check out the BFF Report after the break!

BFF Report - Everquest ONE (yes, 1)
I decided this week to go back and check out one of the original MMORPGs that helped shape the games that we play today. I think we've all heard the term "WoW-Clone" but did you know that alot of what WoW started out with was inspired by games like DAoC, Everquest, etc? Or even better.. have you ever known someone to complain about the "grind" in WoW? Well...

BFF Report - Cataclysm 4.1 - Zul'Gurub
Oh look, Blizzard is rehashing old content again.. or are they? I know that ZG is a "kind of a big deal" and the fact that its back is right up there on the "bigdealness" scale, so I decided to throw together a nice dungeon guide for those that are looking forward to it.. and for the noobs that can't not stand in things that kill you for some reason..
Since it's dropping prettydangcloseto raid quality gear, will those of you who aren't raiding yet focus on farming up ZG and ZA, or will you just skip it and get right to 10/25s?
Overall, how do you guys think it compares to OG ZG?

BFF Report - Battlestar Galactica Online
Since you more than likely can't play WoW at work, let me show you a possible time-sink alternative.. assuming you can get the unity engine installed on your corporate workstation, that is. Battlestar Galactica Online may not be the first browser based MMO, but it is easily the best looking and definitely the most basedonaTVseries'esque game playable in your Netscape (or whatever fancy browser you kids use nowadays) browser. Let's take a gander at it...
So, which of your all-time favorite games would you like to see a browser port of?

BFF Report - RIFT - It Has Dungeons - Just like WoW (again)!!
So this week I got a chance to put together a nice little dungeon guide for a handful of the first few instances in RIFT. I was pretty impressed with how they compared with pre-cata lowbie instances, but until my group has to defeat a slobbering biped who takes shelter in a bubbling cauldron, I'm not quite sold...

BFF Report - StarCraft 2 - Custom Maps
If you own StarCraft 2 and are looking for a multiplayer experience that doesn't require a bajillion actions per minute, or if you are just bad, I think I've found the custom maps you've been waiting for. Outside of Left2Die needing a major difficulty buff, this is a pretty solid set of custom maps from Blizz... now sup with the DOTA mod I played at Blizzcon huh??
True story: Played a game of Starjeweled last night with Draknorr (president of ZAM) on my team and he is SO BAD OMG GET CARRIED MOAR

BFF Report - RIFT - It Has PvP.. Just like WoW!!
If you've ever been in an MMO beta, you know that everyone in it is terrible at PvP. It's not that the terrible players from current games are looking for a new MMO (although it seems like it at times), it's that players are simply testing out different facets of gameplay.
"Oh look, I can kill people!"
*keyboard turns*
*clicks auto-attack*
*holds S until passes out*
It's the equivalent of someone grabbing the flag, running out the tunnel, making a 90 degree left and going right up the ramp. THIS IS EVERY GAME IVE PLAYED.
So, consider this a PSA for
non-PvP'ers
who are looking into getting into RIFT..
and PvP'ing

BFF Report - DCUO (part 2)
So many hoops have been jumped through to make this episode happen, but it was well worth it. Admittedly, superhero games are not very appealing to me, but I do love playing vicariously through the eyes of some rather iconic hero figures: Gizmo Duck, Commander Planet, Black Dyna..wait, what??

BFF Report - RIFT!
RIFT RIFT RIFT OMG RIFT OMGGGGGFFFUUUUUUUU-
That's pretty much been all I've been hearing these past couple of months. So, of course, I had to try it for myself...
This week's episode covers more of the general functions and mechanics of the game as I was playing through beta 3 & 4, and I try to do a bit of comparing against some
slightly
more popular MMOs...
So.. ARE YOU TOTALLY RIFTING BROz? Or do you think this game won't be able to live up to the hype (inb4 'nvr herd of riftLOL')?

BFF Report - DC Universe Online
I got to play this game back at E3, and the PVP was ssiiickkk. It felt like playing Unreal Tournament (and for good reasons), but with superhero capabilities. Unfortunately, due to some weird beta quirks, I wasn't able to get involved in the gameplay aspects of the game.
The good news: John Smedley, CEO of Sony Online Entertainment, watched the show and wants to hook me up with some gametime when it goes live since beta go rough towards the end there (as they tend to do). Next week I'm going to be covering RIFT (which Im
live streaming today
from 10-4pm PST), but after that I'm open to suggestions.. Would you guys be interested in a follow up episode to cover gameplay mechanics and pvp in DCUO?

BFF Report - Top 5 Most Controversial Games of 2010
While you guys were out having a good time with the Loot King, I was running all over the MMO-verse keeping up with the latest it had to offer. By proxy, I was also absorbing all the crazy crap that some of these developers do and figured it would be fitting to package it all up nicely into one big fat.. er.. fony report.
Any shockers?
p.s. A message from Darnell
regarding Tol Barad
.. he doesn't sound too happy.

Cataclysm: Old World Zone Changes
As you probably know by now,
patch 4.0.3a includes a complete restructuring of old-world content
. This ranges from
cosmetic changes
to
modifications to the leveling flow throughout both continents
. These changes have been documented in our handy-dandy
Cataclysm Guide
, but since we're all waiting for the servers to come up, we figured a primer might be appreciated.
Check out the information after the break, complete with some

BFF Report - Get You Some Cata Starting Zone Action
I know you guys have questions concerning Cataclysm...
Should I server first something?
Should I farm up some herbs and dominate the AH?
Do I like cookies?
Should I reroll?
These are all very important, and in some cases, life changing questions. The answers to these are:
No, unless you're doing the digital download, have it preloaded and have lots of Bawls.
Yes, but herbs may not be the way to go...
Hell yes you like cookies! As a matter of fact, you like oatmeal cookies. What's this? You don't? WELL YOU DO NOW.
This is a tough one, because unlike the above, I can't make this decision for you.
That's why I'm putting in the time to get you through the
first hour or so of gameplay
for each race and condensing it down to an easily digestible
8 minutes and 42 seconds
!
Starting with the Alliance...
