Comment by PandaabearHmm, I feel like there is quite a bit of Havoc bias in here, ngl. First, for fair sake, I'll point out I'm not a huge fan of Havoc in general. I find the sequence based "funnel" gameplay rather boring and stale tbh.

But my biggest problem with VS isn't even the Collapsing Star issue, is that we seemingly seem to devalue Void Meta into just a glorified buff stacker. To the point where you even "afk" sometimes to get out of it to smuggle/ship buffs.
From a spec fantasy POV, I think Devourer should always evolve around caring about Void Meta as state, not as a buff. You should always want to care about the resource drain and be rewarded for it, whether you cycle through Void Meta fast or have long lasting ones. (Which I believe should be the core focus of the two different hero specs. But both should care about *at least* Void Meta and the Resource Drain a lot.)

Nintern mentioned that people who first said they dislike the VS variation and then tried it on the PTR ended up shifting their dislike into liking it instead. That's not what I've personally seen from the Devourer discord channel. The majority seem to genuinely dislike it even after playing it on the PTR.
All of the people that were interviewed seem to be a melee fan and very biased to a playstyle I don't think makes Devourer shine as a unique spec. The resource drain. The Void Meta. Everyone hated the spec in PTR, but when the numbers became huge, they love it. People keep meta gaming, blizz will serve slop like this spec to appease. These chuds like devourer because its a meta spec and will say what they feel will help to keep it there. Never forget when blizz asked the community what dungeons to play in M+ and all people picked were trinket chase dungeons, that season sucked ass. Stop listening to these fools pandering for their cause or their wallet.

Criticism has been forgotten when in fact this spec is held together by duct tape. Insanely unhealthy, insanely punishing, built on a foundation that never worked and got removed from pretty much every spec that had it in the past.

Two hero trees that want to do completely different things with the core of the spec, one that wants to afk to leave Meta in AoE situations.

A resource system that plays against the spec and should be obvious to anyone. Floating souls getting consumed when you move, so the movement playstyle or moving for a mechanic actively punishes you by consuming the souls that you want to use on Reap to maximize proc tier chances. Hell, even souls themselves can spawn sometimes on top of you and get consumed immediately with 0 control from the player even if not moving.

Void Ray generating completely RNG amount of souls, giving the spec 0 consistency.

How "smuggling" is a core component of Devourer, something that is completely unintuitive and not explained anywhere except in guides.

Yeah no, this spec is not fine.
