Stormwind and Orgrimmar Updates Considered in Interview with PC Gamer

"It was a little scary, honestly, to go back in to tackle that zone again," says Gonzalez regarding Silvermoon and the Ghostlands, given their nostalgia-drenched position within the Burning Crusade. "Are we going to make the right choices, visually? Are we going to change it too much? Are people going to feel like we’ve taken something away from them?"

As a matter of fact, Gonzalez admits that "most parts of the city, it was just smoke and mirrors. There were a lot of parts of that city that just were not there." That's not too strange to hear—when Cataclysm rebuilt much of the game's two base kingdoms for flying mounts, there were a ton of zones (previously only accessible via out-of-bounds glitches) that were flat, featureless planes.

Even without that motivation, though, Kubit states that this is a sign of greater things to come: "We’re really anxious to see how players respond," he says, "If it’s positive, I think it opens up a bunch more storytelling opportunities." He then tells Heather that reimaginings for the major cities of the Alliance and the Horde—Stormwind and Orgrimmar, respectively—are an example of something they'd like to tackle.telling more stories within themredesigning Northrend for the Last Titan

SW and OG feel so outdated now !Comment by PixelfoxSilvermoon is gorgeous but it's mostly just big and pretty. I want the people who made Razorwind Shores to redo Stormwind. Razorwind is the most amazing zone Blizzard has ever produced. The sheer amount of detail and unique locations is fantastic.

Also, things that really piss me off are doors that can't be opened and chairs that can't be sat on. For me, it's incredibly important that they keep RPers in mind when doing so. Then start with the oldest other major cities and go from there.Comment by AtanaeWhile updates to SW and Org are definitely appreciated, I'm going to be "old Alliance yelling at clouds" and insist that it was more immersive when you had multiple cities. For our Horde friends, in Vanilla, the unofficial Alliance "capital" was Ironforge, for many reasons. And I always liked the idea that one of those reasons was that IF was breathtakingly close to a huge instance hub.

I think it was a missed opportunity to use the main racial cities as content hubs. I think they streamlined to SW and Org in Cata, right when having Darnassus and Org be the hubs for Hyjal would have been wonderful.

I'm not saying Blizzard shouldn't update the two main capitals, just that they should also update all the vanilla capitols andrestoreDarnassusandUndercitywhiletheyareatit.
