Selection and Judging
- Anyone is welcome to apply: all applicants have an equal chance of being selected. Your home will not be chosen based on your popularity or how well-known you are; the homes selected will be based on the merit of creativity.
- What do I win?: Both physical and digital prizes. Every player selected, as well as our alternates, will receive a prize.
- Judges: Special guest judges will pick their favorites of various categories, and award some very cool IRL prizes on two live streams while touring both neighborhoods!
- Fan Judging: We won’t just be letting our Guest Judges decide on homes, though! We’re going to open up community judging, allowing everyone to vote on their favorite homes and award additional prizes and awards!
This early access housing contest will serve a multitude of purposes:
- It will help showcase a wide variety of what players can do with their homes, and give players who now have access to housing and are stuck in the “now what” stage lots of fundamental, tangible ideas that they can use.
- Plus the Block Parties will allow them to walk through and see fun ways they can use their homes, not just browse picture on a website.
- Plus, there will be YOU! Our chosen “House Designers” that they can talk to about how you did such extraordinary things in person!
- An opportunity to gather people who are highly creative with this new feature together, and is a possibility for us to create a record for people to use for future inspiration. For example, walk-through videos, interviews about the different items you use in your homes, how and the tips you have and so on.
- A fun way to celebrate a feature all of us have been longing for many years with a unique community gathering around the end of the year
- Anyone is welcome to apply, and all applicants have an equal chance of being selected. Your home will not be selected based on your popularity or how well known you are; the chosen homes will be based on the merit of creativity and presenting the widest variety of homes across two neighborhoods.
Bonus:
- The event continues to spotlight Warcraft Care’s efforts this winter to raise funds for Feeding America and The Global Foodbanking Network.
I only have my PTR/beta house designs right now:
- We know! Show us your ideas of what you’re planning to build for the event!
- As long as you don’t go wildly off course once you show up, we’ll be judging your submissions based on that!
- If you DO make changes once things are live that are enhancements to your submission, it’s okay!
- If you make considerable, massive changes, ie, an entire theme change, contact us, and we’ll check how your designs impact others. We’ll check how your designs impact others that we may be placing you near!
- There will be additional details on the form about what we consider to be extreme changes, as opposed to expected ones so you aren’t stressing about the difference
Player Requirements:
- Players must follow the in-game code of conduct during the event and any events surrounding it.
- Because the social aspect of the event, where those selected get to show off their houses will be open to anyone with a World of Warcraft account and will be streamed and shared on various social platforms by us and many players visiting the event, we ask that you do your best to keep everything family friendly and below the teen rating on the game’s box.
- We know that you will encounter many different types of players during the event, and we will provide assistance. However, being able to show patience and kindness to others is a must.
- Additionally, we expect players to maintain good standing both online and in their respective communities.
- We expect those selected to demonstrate a history of good sportsmanship towards the other players.
- Additionally, being aware of how their chat communications are visible in-game, including addons, and utilizing these communications appropriately and in the same family-friendly manner.
- Changes to plot assignments should be made through organizers, not directly from player to player, to avoid players feeling pressured to switch.
- If players are under 18, we won’t reject you/your home, but please let us know so we can make appropriate arrangements for your sake.
Event Timeline:
- Houses will be selected during the Alpha, PTR, and Beta Periods. The Beta will be opening up on November 11th, 2025, for players with any copy of Midnight.
- Submissions will be selected via screenshots, and not via GIFs or videos, to keep submissions equitable. Screenshots should not be edited to the best of the user’s abilities.
- Applications will close at the end of November ahead of the December 2nd patch, and participants and backup participants will be announced by December 1st-ish.
- These participants will build their homes on live servers in their public, guild, or charter neighborhoods and then move into the two Horde and Alliance themed “party neighborhoods” the week before the events on the nights of the 14th and 15th.
- Players will have from December 14th/15th (depending on their move in day) to December 18th to complete their yard décor to their liking based upon their assigned plots, and make any internal adjustments as well. If any alternates need to be switched in during this time, we will do so.
- December 19-21 will be the days of the Neighborhood Block Parties, with the Horde and Alliance each getting an evening of focus on our streams and one night being just for enjoyment. Fan voting will open, and the judges on stream will pick their favorites from several categories. Times TBD, will be in the afternoon/evening PST.
- December 22-23, we may take some screenshots before you move back out, especially of the winners, but mainly we’ll be giving out awards to winners and celebrating how much fun it was to party with everyone!!
FAQ
- What if I can’t attend? Will I/My home still be eligible to win? Yes! We know you may have to work some/all of the nights. We just ask that you leave your home open to visitors. The question about availability has no impact on your selection, just giving us a heads up on finding an alternative rout to allowing people to ask you questions about your home if you’re open to it.
- What kind of Prizes? Updating soon, but we’re really excited about them!
- Who are the judges? We’re still loading the list of judges, but some of them include: Layria, Meggoart, MissMarvel & Shojo_AIE.
