Bonus Paladin-Themed Story Chapter with Arator in Midnight Leveling Campaign

Xbox gamescom livestream

Do want to go on a third chapter of the campaign which is actually a little bit different, it is not tied to any particular zone, but it takes you to some of the older places in the world, places like Light's Hope Chapel, places like Stratholme, a couple other interesting places as well.

And in that questline you'll be working alongside Arator, son of Turalyon and Alleria, and helping him interrogate his relationship with the Light.

Midnight's prequel novel, 'Blood Ties'

Sounds good, Arator hasn't really had much screen time since wandering around Honor Hold in TBC

A character like this has a high chance of Mary Sue problems (remember Med'an from the comics), so I hope they avoid that pitfall.

In vanilla, he was described as being very unique, as he is a half-elf. Everywhere else in-game they used a high elf-(then blood elf-)model because no one (certainly not blizzard) had any idea what a half-elf should look like.

The old warcraft rpg said that they look like really thin, effeminate humans or really fat, masculine elves. More accepted in human societies due to elves being the most racist creatures imaginable. All the half-elf has to do is cover up his or her ears and no one would even know they were elves.

I still have no idea how wiki articles from 2004 had ten times more knowledge of warcraft lore than even blizzard does (not that modern blizzard isn't purposely contradicting old lore out of spite).

20 years have passed, and now he looks more like an elf now than his own mother, and apparently more like an elf than anyone in the midnight cinematic (who all looked like b-list actors in bad prosthesis). Somehow, his eyes are glowing like a flashlight also when half-elves don't have glowing eyes.

I get no one put any thought into this, but come on.

If this modern game came out in 2004 instead of the wow we got, it wouldn't have lasted a month.

Censor me if you want, it's still True.

I love Arator, always have since BC.
I am... not a enthusiastic about his new design. I think it's the trailer-trash beard.
Also... for pete's sake, folks, give him half-elf ears. You have the option now in the barbershop. He's half human!

I am always up for good lore related questlines in the game. And by the looks, it's gonna be an "optional" chapter and not part of the main campaign that you must do to unlock end game content. I can go and do this any time I want on an alt or main. 👍

Nobody cares about the non canon sentence about him from 20 years ago. Let it go.

Comment by jiggler

I hope he isn't being set up as a future leader of the Blood Elves. We don't need more Alliance characters

We do need more Alliance characters.

Considering how blizzard has treated the sons of lothar members, i dont have high hope.

Also i will give my non-existent first born if strathome gets updated to not still be on fire

Oh I see. So it's Arathor's hand on Liadrin's shoulder in the cinematic

poor you

you are so much the victim of injustice and censorship.

how can you sustain the fight when you are alone in holding the light into the shadows os stupidity and tyranny ?

the truth is, blizzard officially said they will not follow the lore of the RPG (who was interesting and not that much contradicted )

and now they decided to, at last, clarify and use the character. So now they design more who and what is arator.

-
for the ones worrying Arator would be a "marie sue", there is no concerns, Arator will only be a paladin of light, and regent of the human kingdom by his father, and of course, manipulating powers of the Void, by his mother, versed in hunter abilities, and general of the quel'thalas army, so he will be triple-class, paladin-hunter-void mage,, quadruple specs, and leader of two kingdom. ;)

No wonder they de-canonized this crap. Seems like it was written by someone with major derangements/inferiority complexes.

lmao blizzard sure does know how to write them.

You do realize the old warcraft rpg is not canon right? Like it's been considered non-canon since at least 2011, so anything described in the ttrpg can be regarded as irrelevant to lore for almost 15 years.

I do believe that even you could understand that the rpg was based on the canon of the time, of which the descriptions of half-elves in it were based on how Arator himself was described officially.

you missing the salient point on top of that is on brand though.

you're dismissed.

Maybe it's just me... but what are those weird markings on his arms?

He looks like a mix between a Paladin and a Demon Hunter ...or at least a "light infused demon hunter" but that's just silly...

It's quite easy, actually, I'm neither weak or evil! Makes life easier than whatever horror that lead you to jump on me because the mere sight of A Man With A Chest reminds you of what you aren't.

As for my point, the rpg was mentioned (I also mentioned the wikis, which you were too busy trying to jump into the struggle to flog the scapegoat to notice) to point out that a story made with passion will have cogency and sense built in, because the passionate want to do right by what they love.

There is no love in modern blizzard, for the game, for you their most dutiful lemmings, or for even themselves. A snake eating its own tail, destroying itself in the process.

Again, censor me if you wish but it's ALL True.

No wonder they de-canonized this crap. Seems like it was written by someone with major derangements/inferiority complexes.

I cannot fathom how you got a bingo sheet of soviet execution words out of basic descriptions of how half-elves would look (bigger than an elf, smaller than a human), but the point of your message was to join in on the scapegoating to personally attack me by proxy. Being coherent was secondary.

your curses and that of ALL of your allies here are Consummately Returned and By My Final Authority you are Hereby Marked!

Two things:

1- We will probably encounter groups of paladins and other light-wielders combattants during this chapter and they will be part of the raid where the void attack Silvermoon and they will be part of the reiforcments emering from the Sunwell at the end of the cinematic trailer.

2- I really hope the zones of the old world that we will be visiting (Stratholme, Light's hope chapel...) will be updated as well otherwise the contrast in term of graphics and environnement quality beetween the new zones and the olds ones will be very brutal. Especially to new players.
