And with that, we're right back where we started. Xalatath has the Dark Heart, and Alleria vows to hunt her down and kill her. This whole expansion just went in a big, long-winded circle. I really hope Midnight and TLT will be better, because TWW felt like filler. It was nice to see Venari again, at least...
I imagine Alleria's oath here becomes a source of conflict with us. Like we trap Xal in the Dark Heart and need that power to prevent the Titans from commanding Azeroth, but Alleria destroys the Heart to kill Xal.
So The War Within really kind of sucked. I get that the expansion was repurposed when Metzen came back, but it just feels like nothing significant really happened. They might as well have just started with Midnight and we would have been better off for it story-wise.
time is a circle. so is alleria's motivations this entire expac"i vow to hunt down and end xalatath!" "i swear on my oath to hunt down and end xalatath!"its the same *!@# but with different words. we had very little actual character progression with alleria tbh
Ve'nari says: Rule 11. There is no rest for heroes.i start crying
I appreciate wowand its smaller stories like the arathis coming back, the goblins, and so onbut the BIG STORY ? No. it's repetitive, one note characters (they are just hu.. "evil" ) and it's true : the main arc we had Xal with a big magical thing, we have now Xal with a big magical thing..Xal was evil and laughing ? we have now xal evil and laughingDragon Flight CHANGED stuff and the conclusion was NOT the beginning.-so, yes I'm fond of the adventures in wow, the quests, azeroths and its characters, peoples, landsbut the "main story" is not interesting, just a background noise because north american industries are _convinced_ everything need an eternal narrative, a line connecting from start to end, to sell.-to be clear, I appreciate Xal'atath character when she is met in individual quests, or when she interacts with the player for something more than "*evil laugh*.. MUHOHOHOHOHO"same for many many others characters.and some isolated quests have nice and interesting little stories.
i like how LW supposedly did great evil and yet all he did was save his planet from dimensius(by nuking his planet admittedly)Also this line is perplexing:"She killed him because he trusted her. Because he understood who she really was."That implies that xalatath IS worth trusting(if he knew the real her and still chose to trust her),which is weird given what happened.
Considering the average age of a WoW player is probably late 20's or 30's now I wished they would actually attempt to write better. Last 3 expansions at least have had hilariously corny dialogue. I can't imagine the type of person who could take any of these characters seriously when they speak like this. Hopefully Gamescom saves the day because I doubt anyone is hype for Midnight for the story now.
