Season 1 Blue Post

Hello! We’d like to acknowledge the unusual situation here, where Season 1 gear upgrades are no longer available.

You’ll find that world content in in the new zone gives Season 2 gear, which can be upgraded. There’s some awkwardness to the one week transition period, but as of the patch going live, we need the world to be in a “Season 2” state in terms of currencies so that the Undermine zone content can function as expected. At the same time, we’re keeping Season 1 instanced content active just to make sure players have a few more days to finish some of the achievements that are still available.

We don’t currently have a way, technically, to keep Season 1 gear upgradeable after moving into a Season 2 currency ecosystem, which we have now done.

We understand that this can be confusing and frustrating, and we’ll continue to discuss further improvements to season transitions in the future.

Its plausible to think that each week in WoW starts on Tuesday(Server Reset day)

We should've gotten essence every week last month, it's so difficult collecting tier set transmogs with the limit to catalyst essence

Unlucky we only get 1 Catalyst every 2 weeks

The unable to upgrade is always annoying and the Catalyst charge limits have been punishing. I end up spending half of the Season in LFR to get Veteran Tier items because I need at least 8 charges for Cloak/Bracer/Belt/Boots and potentially 10 for the Tier slots. I usually upgrade Veteran > Champion and Hero > Mythic ilvl tracks for the mogs, Champion is pretty useless because I don't have the Catalyst charges to justify it. Did help having two of the same Class to speed up a few characters, but really shouldn't be needed.

Easy fix just make earning the mythic appearance unlock the lesser appearances.

there is no limit once season 3 begins, for previous stuff. IE: you have the full 623 ilvl undercoin set from season 2, you can make the entire thing into that tier set with no limit. the biggest annoyance is just what they mentioned, not being able to upgrade the ilvl of pieces to unlock different tints.

The smart thing to do over the season is to set aside an item in the appropriate item level range for each slot to catalyst the next season. Of course I never remember to do that :P

I have banks on various alts filled with base Veteran and then 5/8 Veteran, 5/8 Champion, 5/8 Hero track gears. Not EVERY slot, only those I haven't still unlocked xmog for.

It's pretty annoying to have anything between 6 - 20 (or even more) inventory slots "wasted" on gear just so I can convert it to tier and then vendor it. I HAVE to keep 5/8 as well since you can't upgrade previous season gear.

Why would they not have xmog appearances auto unlocked for lower tiers once you unlock hero/mythic version is beyond me. The ONLY way to get LFR variants is by doing LFR and rolling NEED on those...... Or waste precious catalyst charges on open world Veteran gear. The other obvious option is as I mentioned above, which I am doing.

Blizz really loves to see players with hero/myth track gear queue in LFR, roll NEED on tier gear, have those "Mole People" get upset seeing they lost a NEED roll to someone with hero/myth track item, then read the forums those Mole People complain about high geared players rolling NEED and simply laugh at them.... 🤦‍♂️

Limitation should just be removed completely last week of patch.

This is actually a giga brain fix, they could even do it mid-season or end of season to allow previous season gear to be upgraded for free to unlock transmogs. That way it doesn't mess with ilvl / balance.

Unlucky that a tier set has 9 pieces and you have a cap of 8 catalyst charges.
